Farming simulation titles are big business. For unknown reasons, fans of this genre are an obsessive bunch! They work tirelessly to run their virtual farm with the aid of the latest and greatest inventions. However, how would this fan base feel about stripping back the technology? Well, now they can if they invest in the upcoming title Ancient Farm.

Developed by Rural Game Studio and published by UF Games, this is a ye-olde farming simulation title. As such, it strips back the machinery and modern know-how and leaves you with backbreaking work. What’s more, the recent trailer highlights a slow and methodical approach that utilises yaks, basic aqueducts, and rudimentary tools. Therefore, every element of this game looks to be painstakingly difficult and hard work, but somehow undeniably moreish.

What can you do?

The game focuses on a lowly farmer who owns acres of overgrown land. The surrounding Kingdom is wealthy, but the people are hungrier, still. As such, you are tasked with working hard, sowing crops, and selling goods. If you are lucky, you’ll get into the good books of the ruler and become a wealthy man.

The basic idea is clear, but what jobs must you complete? Well, like modern farming titles, Ancient Farm asks you to care for livestock, clear land, sow seeds, harvest crops, and deliver goods. Furthermore, you’ll have to make flour, dig aqueducts and repair infrastructure. Consequently, there is a lot to do, especially as the technology is dated and underwhelming.

Ancient Farm is bound to be a smash hit.

Watching the trailer made me want to play this game. Accordingly, I’m not going to be alone in this judgement. As such, I believe that Ancient Farm will be a smash hit when it’s released on Steam. Subsequently, if the idea of back-breaking work takes your fancy, you can pre-order it here
