Wicked Audio Evac Headphones Review

Comfort

The Wicked Audio Evac is an on-ear headphone and it fits nicely on the ear.  The ear pads are nicely cushioned and were comfortable to wear for long periods.  The headband is nicely cushioned, although it is wrapped in a fabric that is destined to attract pet hair.  The headband is easy to adjust for fit, but I found that the adjustment would slip out of place, requiring multiple adjustments while wearing it.

Performance

The Wicked Audio Evac sounded pretty good over a range of music types, but bass response is a bit muddy and highs are not as crisp as on the RHA SA950i that I reviewed recently.  Movies sounded just fine.

Overall, the sound quality is short of the Beats Solo or the Jabra Revo, but these headphones are 1/4th the price.  Considering the $50 price point, sound quality is just fine.

Features

The Wicked Audio Evac sports fabric-lined cables, which should help prevent snags when stowing the headset.  There is a nicely cushioned headband, and since the headset folds up, it will stow away nicely.  There is no microphone on-board, something that is included in the RHA SA950i at a slightly higher price point, and something that would be nice to have.

Overall build quality is good, and the styling is nice.  Plastic and fabric dominate the materials used, and distinctive styling accents were added via silk screen.  The overall effect is nice without screaming cheap, a nice accomplishment at this price point.

Overall Evaluation

The Wicked Audio Evac is a budget headphone that is aimed at teenagers on the move.  It delivers acceptable sound quality for the $50 price point, and since the teenage boy who looked at these asked for them after the review, I’d say that the styling hits the demographic that it is intended to appeal to.  Fabric wrapped cables are nice and the fact that it folds is also nice.  If you place more of a premium on sound quality and can live without the folding option, the RHA SA950i at $10 higher price point may be a better option.

Overall, the Wicked Audio Evac is a nicely executed option at this price point and earns a 4/5 Silver Award.  Check it out today!
