I’m a sucker for RGB lighting, and if I can make my setup shine loud and bright, I take every opportunity. However, I’ve never used backlighting for my TV. I’ve always been put off by the expensive HDMI sync boxes and the additional wiring needs. Thankfully, this is a thing of the past thanks to the STV1 from Lepro. This easy-to-use device uses a built-in camera to bring your TV to life. Furthermore, it is unbelievably responsive, and this increases the immersive nature of every film, TV program, and game you enjoy.
Lepro create some of the best RGB solutions. Whether it is decorative lighting, light bulbs, lamps, household external lights, camping lanterns, or this mighty TV backlight, they are all fantastic. I’ve tried and tested many of their products, and I’ve never been disappointed. Accordingly, I had high hopes when this product landed on my desk.

Technical aspects.
Simple backlighting isn’t an issue, but it doesn’t have that wow factor. If you are going to the effort of making your gaming room or living space pop, you want the best visual outcome. The STV1 relies on real-time visual processing via the fisheye camera. This ultra-wide-angle lens delivers a large over 180-degree field of view. It’ll continuously monitor your TV to adjust the mounted LED strip and match the on-screen action
This monitored state has an auto adjustment to correct the distorted fisheye lens. In short, the LED strip adjusts the lighting to match every zone on your TV. This delivers accurate and vibrant colours that expand beyond your TV screen. The ambient hue reacts to the action, and this creates a dramatic and immersive experience.
Unlike HDMI sync alternatives, the lightIMS instant sync translates screen changes into colour instructions. This high-performance processing chip delivers almost instantaneous results that are up to 36% faster than its competitors and dated technology.
The STV1 goes one step further, as this isn’t just an RGB strip. It uses RGBIC strips for addressable lighting. The result is an array of distinct colours that match the on-screen action. Consequently, you don’t endure just one shade of colour. Instead, it offers layers of vibrancy that make your TV and wall come to life.

Build quality.
Lepro designs some of the best quality products in this field. Therefore, I wasn’t surprised that the build quality was second to none. The lighting strip is flexible and strong. Moreover, it can be adjusted depending on the size of your TV. Mounting it was easy, but it requires a little patience. If you take your time, this will remain on your TV without any issues.
The strong adhesive tape can be handled with ease. There is an easy-to-remove backing, and lining up the strip was a breeze. Mounting the integrated camera was just as easy. Although this may be a little intrusive when compared to the hidden HDMI sync option, I preferred the simplicity and the low-latency performance. The camera rests upon your TV without risking any damage to the screen. Therefore, if you need to move it, you will not notice where it was previously mounted.

Customisation.
The RGBIC strip will last the test of time. The low power draw and vibrant colours make this an affordable and eye-catching option. The lights should last thousands of hours, and there is an app to install if you wish to make adjustments to any of the settings. Furthermore, you can talk to the app and tell it your favourite sports team. The backlighting will automatically change to your team’s colours, and this will create the ultimate fan zone.
If you are not into sports, but you love music, the STV1 has a music sync mode. This smooth, eye-catching mode delivers pulsing, vibrant flashes of colour that bring energy to any party. It reacts to every beat and creates a real head-turning conversation starter.

Are the STV1 lights worth it?
RGB lighting isn’t really a need-to-have option. Instead, it is one of those nice-to-have elements in any entertainment area. I adore anything RGB, so I was always going to love this product. However, I was blown away by the simple setup, the vibrancy, and the intelligent use of AI. Furthermore, I love its low-latency performance, deep and varied colours, and affordability. Accordingly, I think they are great, and I recommend buying it here!
