The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past 2 will contain a light and a dark world, Nintendo has confirmed. Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma confirmed the news to CNET, before stressing the importance of the system’s 3D capabilities.

The use of 3D has allowed the developers to breathe new life into old environments, something that will make the game feel “different” to previous releases.

Aonuma also revealed that Link’s ability to become a drawing was inspired by the battle with Phantom Ganon in Ocarina of Time.

Announced last month, the adventure will feature the same game world but offers new dungeons and a new storyline.

Set from a familiar top-down perspective, a heightened sense of verticality in dungeons will make use of the system’s 3D screen.

Elsewhere, Link will be able to become a flat drawing that can move onto walls, round corners and through windows to solve puzzles and explore new areas.
