UK retailer Asda has once again reduced the price of the Nintendo Wii U. Prices have dropped by a further £50, meaning that the basic model can be purchased for £149, while the Premium version now costs £199, reports Eurogamer.
Asda was among the first retailers to significantly reduce the price of the Wii U back in March, offering basic and Premium bundles for £199 and £249 respectively.
A number of retailers followed suit, including Amazon and HMV, the latter of which began selling the Premium console with a copy of Nintendo Land and ZombiU for £200.
Wii U life-to-date sales currently stand at 3.45 million, down on Nintendo’s revised forecast of 4m and its original target of 5.5m.
Only 390,000 Wii U consoles are believed to have been sold since Christmas. Nintendo hopes to sell a further 9m Wii U consoles during the next fiscal year, and 18m 3DS handhelds.
To do this it will focus on delivering more of its core games in overseas territories without long delays.
