CG studios Blockade Entertainment and Rainmaker Entertainment will be behind the film, while Insomnaic will play a hands-on role with production, the screenplay, character development and animation consulting.
“One of the biggest questions we’ve gotten in the last few years is, ‘When are you going to make a Ratchet & Clank movie?'” said senior community manager James Stevenson.
“The truth is, we’ve wanted to do a movie for a long time! Ratchet & Clank‘s action, humour and galaxy-spanning adventures have really been the basis for a fantastic game series, and we think it’d translate perfectly to the big screen.”
The last game in the series, Ratchet & Clank: QForce, was released on PS3 last year and will soon receive a PS Vita version.
Announced last year was Ratchet: Gladiator HD, a re-release of the 2005 PS2 game that sees Ratchet & Clank compete in an underground reality combat show.
