Rumour is that Nokia is reportedly working on a phone-tablet hybrid to rival Samsung’s Galaxy Note line. The Financial Times sources claim that the Finnish firm is planning to release a handset with a super-sized screen later this year.

The device in question is said to feature a similar screen size to the Galaxy Note 2’s 5.5-inch display, but with more powerful innards.

Larger-display devices are growing ever popular, with the Huawei Ascend Mate, ZTE Grand Memo and the Samsung Galaxy Mega all arriving on the market in recent months.

Nokia’s rumoured hybrid handset is one of several new products the firm has been tipped to release this year, along with the ultra-slim Nokia Catwalk and an EOS phone equipped with a 41-megapixel PureView camera.
