Using as a Drive Duplicator
Once you have connected the drives to the dock, just switch on the dock and wait for it power up and detect the drives.
Then you can choose whatever task you want from the menu – in this case it Copy HDD because we want to duplicate a drive.
You need to ensure that the target drive is the same size or larger than the source drive otherwise you can’t perform the duplication and you will be told the drive is “not ready”.
Once the copying has started you can watch the progress on the display. Depending on the type of drives you are duplicating and the size of the drives, it could take a while, so be patient.
After the duplication has completed you can perform a HDD compare to ensure everything has worked – this does take longer than the duplication itself though.
Using as a Docking Station
You can also use it as a docking station using the USB cable provided in the box. Basically connect the drives you want to use (you can use one connected to source and one connected to destination) then connect the USB cable to your computer and switch on the power.
Windows should find the drive or drives and then you can just use them.
This is really useful if you have some old IDE drives with data on them but don’t have the kit to read them easily anymore.
