A Closer Look
The dock is quite small – about the size of a hard drive, and weighs very little.
On the side of the dock is a power connector, a USB connector and an on/off switch.
One side of the dock is labelled Source and the other Destination. Both have connectors for IDE and SATA hard drives – both protected by rubber stoppers.
The top of the dock has an LCD display and 6 buttons for operational use.
Connecting Drives
If you are connecting a SATA drive you just remove the rubber stopper and connect the drives as shown below.
If you want to connect an IDE drive then you need to connect one of the ribbons and power connectors to the dock and then connect those to the IDE drive, as shown below.
The only issue I had here was that the IDE ribbon was longer than the power connector and wasn’t that flexible so the drive wasn’t connected as securely as with the SATA drives, however I would guess that after some use the IDE ribbons will become more flexible.
The box contains all the ribbons and connectors you need for any type of drive, which means you don’t need to buy anything else to use it.
