A MORE DETAILED LOOK AT THE SONOS BUNDLE 250

The Bundle 250 comes with a ZP120, and ZP90 and a CR200. What are they you ask?

THE CR200

Here is how Sonos describe the CR200:

The Sonos Controller 200 (CR200) gives you instant, wireless access to all your music and all your rooms at the touch of a finger. It’s 100% dedicated to multi-room music control so every time you pick it up or touch the screen it’s instantly on. And, with SonosNet it works wirelessly all over the house.

The CR200 is a touch screen Sonos Controller that looks a bit like a PDA. It has a beautifully clear colour screen. Along with the CR200 you get a charging station, which holds the CR200 and charges it at the same time, making it easy for you to either pick up the CR200 and use it, or to use it whilst it is still in the dock.

All you have to do is plug in the power cable into the dock, and then place the CR200 into the dock.

We shall look at using the CR200 in a moment – for now we are leaving it to charge Smile

ZONEPLAYER 90

Here is how Sonos describe the ZonePlayer 90:

The Sonos ZonePlayer 90 lets you play all the music you want, all over your house, on all the audio equipment you already own — your home theater receiver, stereo system, powered speakers, and more. Just connect the ZP90 to any amplified audio device in any room and it’s instantly part of the wireless Sonos system.

For the review I connected it up to my existing home theatre system – only took a few moments to do.

ZONEPLAYER 120

Here is how Sonos describe the ZonePlayer 120:

The ZP120’s state-of the-art digital amplifier delivers audiophile-quality sound to any room. The energy-efficient Class D amplifier provides 55W per channel of power with a THD+N <.02% for excellent audio quality playback — without hisses, crackles or hums. And because the amplifier is built in, you won’t need to connect to a stereo to play your music. Just plug it in, connect to speakers and enjoy.

For the review I used the ZonePlayer 120 in my office, and connected up the SP100 speakers to it, and also connected it to my home network using the supplied Ethernet cable. Total time to connect it all up – less than 3 minutes! And I could have done it quicker but I was being careful with the speaker cables!

You can of course connect it up to your own speakers if you want.

  1. I can imagine the reluctance to box it up and send it back. I've had Sonos in my house for ~3 years. It's dead easy to use. One of my prime considerations was ease of use for my wife.
