New Gameplay Trailer for Winbound as Pre-Orders go Live

0

Deep Silver has announced that Windbound, a stunning survival-crafting RPG-adventure from developer 5 Lives Studios, is available to pre-order for Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store with all other platforms to follow soon. The game has also been confirmed for Google Stadia.

Deep Silver also exclusively unveiled the first Windbound gameplay reveal trailer during The Escapist’s Indie Showcase. A new day dawns on the Forbidden Islands. Kara, driven to find the path that leads her back to her tribe, pushes on in her extraordinary odyssey into the unknown.

The islands are alive with magic and enchantment telling the tales of their origin and revealing the role Kara unknowingly plays in it as each artefact that she unearths unlocks a new clue to her past.

Witness Kara’s evolution in survival as she scavenges for resources and gains the skills to craft and equip her with the ultimate sea vessel and the strongest combat-ready attire and weaponry. Increasingly ferocious battles on land and now at sea will transform her into the hardened warrior she was born to become. All the while, a storm unlike any she has ever seen, is pulling her through the treacherous waters to face a mystical presence that lies beneath the sea.

Players who pre-order the game via PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Nintendo eShop, Steam or Epic stores will receive three exclusive Ancestral items.

  • Ancestral Attire – This treasured garment – fit for either a warrior or a priest – has been handed down from generation to generation, and now the time has come for Kara to honour her past.
  • Ancestral Oar -The Oceanic Gyre was revered in times past, though its true significance is enigmatic to Kara’s people today. Nevertheless, this salt-treated wooded oar remains sturdy and functional, despite its age.
  • Ancestral Knife– How or where the ancestors acquired these Sea Shards remains a mystery, but few would deny their efficacy. Luminous, durable and impossibly sharp, this blade cuts as well today as it did a hundred years ago.

To Kara’s tribe, the exploits of her ancestors are legendary. Hunters, fishers, warriors, poets and philosophers, their stories tell of a people who lived in perfect harmony with the natural world and swam the deep waters in the company of gods. Though the tale of their downfall has been lost to time, their legacy lives on in these artefacts that have endured to this day.

Pre-order Windbound via the official site windboundgame.com

Windbound launches on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, Steam and Epic on August 28th.

All the News from and Our Reaction to PlayStation 5 Reveal Event!

0

Well this was certainly a long anticipated event for PlayStation fans as Sony has kept the gaming world waiting a very long time just to see the PlayStation 5 console itself let alone the launch and first year lineup of games for the PS5, but now the wait is over.

Below you will find the news, trailers and my own reaction to the special PlayStation 5: The Future of Gaming event from June 11th 2020!

Event opens with a nice look at the life span of the PlayStation 4 and the big titles of this soon to be “last generation” of PlayStation….which actually felt more like a send off than a celebration by the end of this event.

Strange to see the event open with yet again GTA V and GTA Online somehow getting another remaster for the PlayStation 5 but “Expanded” and with the announcement that appears to show that every PS5 over will get it for free and until then, PS4 owners of GTA V will get $1million per month until enhanced version launches for PS5.

Jim Ryan Pres CEO of Sony PlayStation talking about GTA partnership and a year of talking about the PS5 and now to talk about the games coming to the PS5 leaving us with the go home line of “Have the games do the talking”.

Pragmata Announcement Trailer – 2022 Release

HORIZON II: Forbidden West

Finally to end on….The first look at the PlayStation 5 console itself, in two versions, PS5 with a disc drive and an All digital version

My Thoughts…

Well that was certainly an unmissable build up to the big reveal of the PlayStation 5 console and jumping straight to that, I do like how it looks compared to the Xbox Series X but do feel the Series X design has a very sensible will fit in your room easily whilst the PS5 is definitely a statement almost over designed concept feel to the look and seeing an all digital version as well is a logical option and clearly borrowed from the Xbox All digital option which I expect to see replicated for the Series X either at launch or year one.

But to the games and there are some old faces returning, some expected names mentioned and some very interesting new titles to keep an eye for in the weeks and months leading to the next generation launching. The Miles Morales Spider-Man game feels very much like a spin off game rather than a full sequel to Spider-Man PS4 but great to see him get a full game rather than a side part in the possible sequel. Horizon II: Forbidden West looks incredible, I loved the original so more of this and with the power of the PS5 is going to be incredible.

But, putting on my devils advocate hate for a moment and being impartial, this event did suffer the very same limited showing of actual PS5 gameplay just as the Microsoft Xbox Series X 3rd Party game event last month suffered so we had a lot of snazzy announcement trailers but not actual gameplay or at least, nothing that was identified as being gameplay.

I am also a little worried that they seemed to offer no real answer to Microsoft’s Smart Delivery system for their own 1st party now PlayStation Studios as the logo kept popping up identified, with all titles only showing as being for the PS5 which I appreciate this event is all about the PS5 but as someone very much unlikely to be able to jump to PS5 on launch, there is a real heartbreaking moment to see follow up to PS4 games I loved like Horizon Zero Dawn, Spider-Man: Miles Morales for example, that as of tonight I am expecting not to be able to play unlike over at Xbox with smart delivery, if I can’t make the jump to the Series X I will still be playing HALO Infinite this holiday season on my Xbox One X.

There was also a lack of mentioning or showing of anything PSVR for the PS5, no answer to what is in my opinion, the best value for money gaming subscription in Xbox Game Pass Ultimate with maybe a new version of PS Now and with a new generation where the services will matter as much as the exclusive games, Sony PlayStation seem to be either keeping their cards close to their chest or they do not have any answer right now to what Xbox is offering already.

Overall this is still early days for the PS5 and Sony were playing catchup with Microsoft who have been showcasing the Xbox Series X since December 2019. We now know what the console looks like and a good idea of games in the first year of the PS5 but questions remain and whilst many expected a price and release date following yesterday leak of a £599.99 price tag on Amazon UK for the PS5, we are still left with questions.

PlayStation fans have a lot to be excited for and now eyes turn to Xbox in July when the Microsoft Studios will reveal their Xbox Series X games line up and I hope they have as diverse number of games as we were treated to tonight.

The road to Next Generation gaming….has finally fully begun!

Destiny 2: Beyond Light Expansion Revealed for September 2020

Bungie held a big reveal event that pretty much roadmaps their intention for Destiny 2 content for at least the next three years. Instead of announcing Destiny 3 which many had expected, we were given a look at what to expected starting with the next big expansion…Beyond Light coming September 22nd 2020:

The splintered houses of the Fallen have rallied and built their new empire on the icy moon of Europa. Brave the unrelenting glacial frontier, infiltrate the Golden Age Braytech facility, and uncover the secrets that lie deep under the ancient ice.

But for right now, Season 11 starts today with ‘Arrivals’

Fragments of the vanquished Almighty burn in the sky, but celebration is cut short as mysterious Pyramid ships reveal themselves throughout the system. An obscured message emerges from the darkness. Is it a greeting, a threat, or something else altogether? Eris and Zavala call upon you to find out…

My thoughts….

This event certainly got my attention….but it was not enough to make me want to return to Destiny, just yet. A lot of information was dropped today and right now my attention in September is very much on Cyberpunk 2077 and the Beyond Light expansion releasing just a week after has not done enough from a trailer to make me change my plans to include a return to Destiny.

But it has factors that has me interested such as The Stranger returning and a new location on Europa and Bungie laying out a full three year roadmap plan for Destiny 2 content that takes it into the next generation of gaming whilst they acknowledge mistakes made in recent years especially with seasonal content was good to see. But pricing will play a huge factor in if I make the jump back to Destiny 2.

Party on Dudes with First Teaser Trailer for Bill & Ted Face the Music!

Well this is exactly what I was hoping for this morning following the release of the Film Poster for Bill & Ted Face the Music….the first Teaser Trailer has just dropped!!

Directed by Dean Parisot with returning franchise writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, the film will continue to track the time-traveling exploits of William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. and Theodore “Ted” Logan.

Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle aged best friends set out on a new adventure when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it. Along the way, they will be helped by their daughters, a new batch of historical figures, and a few music legends — to seek the song that will set their world right and bring harmony in the universe.

Bill & Ted Face the Music is directed by Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest), written by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon (Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure) – and produced by Scott Kroopf, Alex Lebovici, and Steve Ponce.

And remember: be excellent to each other.

First Film Poster for Bill & Ted Face the Music!

EEXXXCCCEELLLLEEENNTTTT *Air guitar*……well how else do you react to the first poster for the Bill & Ted Face the Music Poster?

This was teased yesterday as a new Twitter social media account for Bill & Ted appeared and many fans including myself had hoped for the first actual trailer….though that could still happen…..but for now, we will have to settle for the first poster for the film showing our heroes Bill, , played by Alex Winter and Ted, played by Keanu Reeves as well as the iconic Telephone booth time machine (I still prefer the TARDIS).

With everything happening in the world, “Be excellent to each other” has never been more relevant!

Tune In Tonight to see the Next Chapter in Destiny 2

With Season 10 coming to an all be it lengthy protracted finale this past weekend as Destiny 2 featured its first ever LIVE in game event as Rasputin was finally fully powered up and fired on The Almighty (90 minutes….really Bungie??) but now it is time to see what Bungie has in store for the next chapter of Destiny 2.

I have to admit that I dropped out of Destiny quite some time ago, it just became really not fun to play as the grind and repetition for very little reward just made it more of a chore than a game to enjoy. Since Bungie broke away from Activision, Destiny 2 has been kept going with expansions that had little story driven content and more focused on the hardcore faithful than delivering the Destiny experience that I invested in when I purchased a PS4 just to play the first Destiny,

So will this live reveal event today at 5pm BST today show us another season, will it reveal Destiny 3 and with the next generation of console gaming arriving later this year in 2020, how does Destiny look to carry on into the realms of the Xbox Series X and PS5?

I wish I could say I am excited to see but I do believe I am not alone in being a Destiny player looking for a big reason to return and not another seasonal content pass.

PS5 Event Announced for Thursday June 11th

Following the postponed event originally planned for June 4th has been confirmed, well it was originally leaked via a Twitch ad, to have been rescheduled for Thursday 11th June at 9pm BST:

The expectation is that the PlayStation 5 console will finally be revealed along with the launch line up of titles in what should be the first chance to see what Sony have in mind for the ‘Future of Gaming’. Personally I am hoping to see if or what Sony has in answer to Microsoft’s “Smart Delivery” feature for the Xbox Series X where you can buy a game for the Xbox One and receive the Series X upgrade for free when available, meaning you can buy a game once and play it on any of the Xbox console family.

Will Sony have something similar, will they have a version to rival Xbox Game Pass Ultimate’s subscription model or will they stay true to form and use the power of their exclusive game sequels such as a possible God of War and Spider-Man PS4 sequel to drive players to the PS5 on launch?

We will soon find out this Thursday!
