Most Commonly Used Tech for Making Online Games

0

Gaming has quickly become one of the most popular means of amusement. Online gaming, in particular, has sprawled, amassing millions of fans and players due to its ease of access. Several technological advances aid this process, from game engines to programming languages.

This article will review some of the technology gracing us with online games. Read on to gain more insights.

Unity

This popular gaming engine is widely used to create 2D and 3D games. Unity is unique because it is easy to use and suitable for advanced and relatively new developers. This engine allows software developers to create games on several platforms, including PCs and mobile gadgets.

This platform uses C# programming language. This language facilitates the comprehensive blending of several gaming inputs and mechanics. Furthermore, the platform is well integrated to work with external tools like Adobe Photoshop to create the best games.

If you have any questions relating to the software, worry no further. The Unity community is highly interactive, allowing a free flow of idea exchange.

Unreal Engine

One of the features that has made gaming so famous is its stunning and realistic graphics. This technology manufactured by Epic Games is used to create quality 3-dimensional games and simulations. Some popular gaming titles stemming from this engine include Mortal Kombat and Fortnite.

Using this form of coding gives more power to the developer to manipulate and shape the game as they see fit. Additionally, the software provides other in-house and external tools, allowing producers more creative space.

This game engine’s primary language is C++. The language is widely used in creating several online games, including web browser games and online casinos, enabling players to play various games like pokies online. Software developers have optimized online pokies for mobile and tablet plays, making it easy for Australian players to access the sites on the go conveniently.

Unreal engine is so powerful that its potential spills over to various niches like filmmaking, simulation training, and architectural visualization.

Godot

With increased technological engagement, more developers want to enter the game manufacturing space. To do so, they need engines that are relatively easier to use. Godot, an open-source game engine, matches most of these developers’ ambitions.

This engine was created by a band of developers and is designed to provide a seamless experience to users. Its simple-to-understand user interface makes it a perfect option for beginners.

Like most popular engines, Godot also facilitates cross-platform integration to create the best games. Being an open-source engine, it is receptive to advancements from any developer who wishes to improve the software. This feature ensures the continuous development of the engine.

Cry Engine

Cry Engine is the perfect solution for you if you seek to create games with visually stunning graphics and rendering capabilities. Crytek makes this engine and has produced popular titles like the Crysis series and Ryse: Son of Rome.

This software similarly uses C++ programming language to create game features. It also uses a famous game development program known as Lua. It does a fantastic job of creating real-world environments.

Conclusion

Gaming is a diverse industry that has scaled to new heights thanks to technological advancements. Games manufactured are now more graphically appealing and fun than before. Several inventions have aided this process, from programming languages to development engines like Unity and Unreal Engine.

What Attracts Up to 900k Viewers to League of Legends Worlds: Top eSports Event

0

You’ve probably heard that League of Legends is one of the biggest games. But what about its annual event: The Worlds? That’s a world-class competition that attracts so many viewers that some non-eSports events get jealous. What’s the secret of it? How can a video game event be so popular? Let’s figure it out.

League of Legends is Extremely Popular

One of the primary reasons The Worlds has so many fans is the popularity of LoL. According to statistics gathered in 2022, the game has 180 million players. While 32 million play it daily. And what’s peculiar, the numbers are only snowballing. In 2018, the game had just 75 million players.

And now imagine that 180 million players know an event featuring one of their favorite games starts. They just can’t miss it, this spectacle of skill and excellence.

Moreover, many of these players go further than just watching. They predict match and event outcomes at the best League of Legends betting site. This allows them not only to be satisfied with spectating but also to raise additional cash.

The Worlds is a Place of High-Skill Playing

It’s a hell of a task to get to The Worlds. Only the best players can do it. To reach that level, they train hard for years. This allows them to develop super-high skill levels, leading them to victories. Imagine gathering all these people in one competition. And that’s literally what The Worlds does.

This makes every event match unique, showing something you can never find in ranked. Players’ moves are honed so that the match can last till the first major mistake. Competitors can play impeccably for tens of minutes! This is super satisfying to watch.

For many viewers who play league themselves, this is also a learning material. So they carefully watch the moves of the pros, extracting their value. This helps viewers to mimic the best players, which makes them better at the game.

The Event is Easily Accessed Online

Another big reason for so many The Worlds viewers is how easily you can access it. When the matches are on, you can find their live streams on Twitch or YouTube.

To view them, you just have to open your browser and do a little search. You’ll be watching one of the biggest eSports events in several minutes.

Live Stream Rewards

In addition to the effortless access to a stream, you can also loot rewards while you are on. So that’s one of the ways Riot (LoL developers) tricks many players into opening matches.

To get your reward, you must enter the League of Legends official website and log in. Then, the main page will feature a live stream window (transferred from Twitch). Join it! While you watch, you can catch LoL rewards like chests, keys, skins, and emojis.

Huge LAN Event

Each year, The Worlds tournament is in different cities. In 2022, these were Mexico and San Francisco. This year, LAN will take place in the cities of South Korea: Seoul and Busan. Two towns are required for conducting each event stage in separate locations.

All the competitors are gathered in big cyber arenas. That’s the place where The Worlds event conducts its matches. And it also contains a ton of visitors who have traveled land and sea to be the closest to players.

However, matches are not the only things you can see in these arenas. Riot hires show people to run the event. They keep the crowd cheered up, appearing between maps.

Cosplay events bring another element of entertainment. If you didn’t know, those are the competitions where people show their costumes of LoL characters. A presenter with the most realistic costume gets a win.

Both previously-described activities are available not only to LAN visitors but also to online viewers. They can watch them through streams too.

But event visitors also have access to exclusive experiences. For instance, Riot Games can randomly conduct a competition between visitors with exciting rewards. Or, banally, they have access to a souvenir shop.

The Worlds 2023

You can become a part of The Worlds viewing community this year too. The main event has four stages in 2023:

  • Play-ins  (10-15 October);
  • Swiss Stage (19-29 October);
  • Knockouts (2-12 November);
  • Finals (November 19).

If you are not up to traveling around South Korea, you better watch the live stream. But if you are down for visiting a LAN event, you can buy tickets online. They range from $23 to $62; you must buy five to see all the clashes.

How Social Media Is Shaping College Life in 2023

In our contemporary digital era, social media has become an intrinsic part of our daily routines, significantly influencing higher education, among other things. These vibrant online platforms have evolved beyond just social interactions. They are instrumental in molding students’ academic journeys and experiences. How, therefore, is social media shaping the university scene in 2023?

With the growing pressure of academics, students are turning not only to professional essay writing services, such as Essayservice with the write my discussion post requests, but also to the boundless opportunities of social media to enhance their learning experiences, connecting them to resources and peers in ways never before possible.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Virtual Study Groups and Collaborations

One of social media’s core strengths is bridging people from diverse locations. More students than ever are gravitating toward platforms like Facebook and Discord to create collaborative study sessions. These virtual hubs foster collaborative work, brainstorming, and mock testing. The interactive nature of these sites elevates the learning experience, with many finding it beneficial, especially when tackling challenging tasks.

Access to Global Knowledge

The advent of social media has ushered in unparalleled access to international knowledge. Through platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, and specialized educational forums, the contours of student learning are being reshaped. Moving past conventional classroom instruction and textbooks, students are diving into global dialogues, partaking in current debates, and staying updated with educational breakthroughs. These digital avenues grant them direct insights into international symposiums, online workshops, and team projects, thereby enriching their knowledge base and broadening their worldviews.

Social Interactions and Mental Well-Being

Building Communities and Friendships

Platforms such as Instagram and TikTok have become stages for students to broadcast moments from their college life, from everyday dorm escapades to significant events. Such digital sharing fosters a profound sense of community, enabling students to align with kindred spirits, nurture lasting bonds, and create connections that outlive their collegiate years.

The Mental Health Conversation

Previously whispered in quiet corners, mental health is now being spotlighted, much credited to the transparency ushered in by social media platforms. Students find comfort in recognizing they aren’t alone in their challenges, drawing courage from shared experiences. With the increasing openness surrounding mental health, a supportive community is emerging where peers bolster and inspire one another.

Career Opportunities and Personal Branding

Leveraging Platforms for Career Advancement

As we navigate the modern digital landscape, the demarcation between our personal and professional lives has blurred. Platforms are now not just for personal connections but also pivotal arenas for career development and personal branding. Sites such as LinkedIn, Clubhouse, and Instagram are evolving into essential tools for aspiring professionals. For students preparing to dive into the professional world, these platforms transcend traditional social interactions. They serve as pivotal resources for personal branding, establishing networks, and unearthing job prospects.

Beyond Traditional Job Searches

The era where internship searches were confined to perusing job listings or solely depending on college placement drives is fading. Today, social media offers a proactive strategy for career exploration. By engaging with industry influencers, participating in specialized groups, and even highlighting their academic projects, students position themselves prominently in the eyes of potential recruiters. Virtual job fairs, online networking events, and webinars also offer students an edge, equipping them with insights and connections that can be invaluable as they transition from college to career.

Gleaning Industry Insights

Staying updated with industry trends, emerging job roles, and company cultures has never been easier. By following industry leaders and participating in relevant discussions, students get a clearer picture of their chosen field’s landscape.

The Flip Side: Navigating the Downsides

Over-Reliance and Distractions

Social media can be as alluring as a magnet, drawing you in with endless notifications, chats, and shared posts. While these platforms can be a fun way to unwind and connect with friends, they can also become massive time-sinks. If you’re not careful, before you know it, you’re deep down a rabbit hole when you should be studying. When deadlines are on the horizon, these distractions can cause stress and delays. Finding your balance, like setting special times for social media or limiting how long you spend on apps, can keep you focused and on track.

Protecting Privacy and Mental Well-Being

In our digitally-driven age, much of our personal narrative unfolds online. Every interaction, be it a post, like, or comment, creates a digital echo. This ongoing digital storytelling has its pitfalls. Living online has its ups and downs. Your online profiles are more public than you might think. Employers could be sizing you up, and cyber threats are never far away. And then there’s that itch of feeling like you’re missing out as you scroll through all those perfect snapshots of other people’s lives.

Just keep in mind that what you see online is often the highlight reel, not the real deal. Taking a break from social media now and then, and recognizing that those posts and images are just a slice of life, can help you maintain a grounded and balanced perspective.

To Sum Up

Navigating academics and social media in 2023 is like walking a tightrope. The online realm is rich with opportunities for learning and networking, but it’s not without its pitfalls. Beware of misleading profiles and lurking distractions. Stay true to your goals and values. If you’re ever in doubt, there’s support—from the best paper writing services to online friends. Embrace the internet’s potential, but set boundaries and remember it’s only a part of the bigger picture. This way, you can enjoy the digital world without losing sight of your true self and aspirations

Review: Mr. Run and Jump

Mr. Run and Jump is a speedrunner’s dream. This impossibly precise platformer will test your resolve and your patience. Moreover, it is accessible and user-friendly thanks to its Dynamic Assistance options. Accordingly, this can be as tough or as easy as you like. However, no matter how simple you make it, it will still push you all the way.

Developed by Graphite Lab and published by Atari, this is an arcade platforming title. What’s more, it is wonderfully vibrant and deceptively difficult. As such, this is one game that will suck you in, chew you up, and spit you out for good measure. Furthermore, it is distinctly old-school with its side-scrolling approach and tantalising collectables. Consequently, this is a great game for older and younger gamers alike.

Avoid the frog and leap the gaps.
Where it begins.

Mr. Run and Jump will save the day!

No one wants their world to be destroyed. Furthermore, unruly creatures are a big no, no, whenever you want to live a peaceful life. However, this is the pain that Mr. Run and Jump must go through every day. Yet, with the help of his trusty sidekick, Leap the Dog, he will undertake a dangerous adventure and save the day.

You play the part of Mr. Run and Jump. This neon-infused hero must run, jump, and leap over obstacles on every level. Additionally, he will learn cliched tricks to climb walls and avoid his enemies. En route, he will collect Power Gems from the Realms of Color. What’s more, he will undertake multiple journeys into the void. This dangerous place wishes to devour you and wipe you from all existence. Yet, you can not let this happen. Instead, you’ll use all of your skills to outpace the void as it closes in on your position.

Classic platforming action.

This old-school arcade title relies on classic platforming action. Furthermore, it has an array of deadly enemies, traps, and obstacles that must be avoided if you wish to succeed. As you undertake each level, you are against the clock and plenty of cruel monsters. Moreover, there are Power Gem shards to collect throughout every world. On top of this, there are orbs that must be obtained from the most challenging of locations.

By running, jumping, wall sliding, wall jumping, and catapulting yourself across each level, you’ll dodge and weave past the array of spiked traps. Moreover, you may have to crouch under enemies or avoid frogs as they move from lily pad to lily pad. Either way, you will need to be pinpoint accurate if you wish to collect every orb and every shard. Both of these items are essential in the later part of the game. Accordingly, you’ll want to collect as many as possible during your first run-through.

Use your surroundings to reach every platform.
Reach those higher platforms.

A challenging speedrun title.

Mr. Run and Jump doesn’t break the mould for the speedrun genre. Furthermore, the tough gameplay pails when compared to Super Meat Boy. However, I think that it hits the sweet spot between tough and enjoyable. Yet, I couldn’t help but think that it was a challenging speedrun title. With many collectables to gather and the unbelievable accuracy required for each section, it will make you scream with rage.

Thankfully, though, the Dynamic Assistance options mix things up a bit. Additionally, if you die repeatedly, the developers allow you the ability to use a checkpoint system. Moreover, if you die further still, you are issued a “Mario-style” invincible star to romp past each obstacle. I must stress though, that this should be the last option you take as it reduces that euphoric feeling of reward over challenge.

Mr. Run and Jump looks fantastic.

Atari’s Recharged franchise is renowned for its striking style and amazing audio. Thankfully, Mr. Run and Jump maintains this breathtaking approach. Each stage is vibrant, interesting and well-designed. Moreover, your enemies and the obstacles are easy to identify. Alongside this, I loved the vivid neon hue and the varied backdrop for each world you explore.

The audio complements the visuals. The playful yet synth music is enjoyable to listen to. Moreover, it reminded me of the repetitive soundtrack from each Super Mario Bros. title. Alongside this, the sound effects are crass, in your face, and fantastic. I loved the shrill noises, especially when you linked commands together. It was enjoyable to hear the protagonist leap, roll, and glide through the air.

Mr. Run and Jump must avoid every obstacle.
Avoid the angry face.

Exceptional controls.

A precision platformer requires tight controls. Fortunately, this one delivers that and much more. Thankfully, the inputs are accurate and responsive. Moreover, the commands are simple to understand because of the excellent, albeit straightforward tutorial.

Like its speedrunning peers, Mr. Run and Jump oozes replay value. Not only do you have every collectable to find and gather, but you have a ticking clock to beat. On top of this, you can make the game super challenging if you wish to be tested further still.

Mr. Run and Jump is a great indie title.

This is a love/hate genre that makes you scream with anger. Yet, it is this extreme emotion that makes it undeniably rewarding as well. Though failure is all but assured, I adored the brutality and the ability to make it easier if I so wished. What’s more, the excellent visuals and upbeat audio were equally good. Accordingly, I loved this new IP and I recommend that you buy it here! Can you collect the Power Gems and save the world? Leap every chasm, run past every enemy, and avoid every spike in this cruel but enjoyable indie affair.

Review: Blasphemous 2

I’m sort of a laissez-faire heretic. I was raised Anglican, at least until I began worshipping my pillow every Sunday morning instead. As such, things like guilt and penance weren’t massive themes. What can you expect from a religion that was the result of a severe case of royal blue balls? I did, however, do a lot of praying. After playing through Blasphemous 2, though, I find myself quite grateful that these prayers weren’t answered. God would be a being far beyond our imagination, how could they understand our whims?

I’d pray to fall ill before a big exam and I’d wake up covered in flesh-eating beetles or horrifically fused with the bed. It’s an interesting thought and Blasphemous 2 gives us a glimpse into what that reality would look like. As you’d expect, it’s idiosyncratic, intriguing and thoroughly disturbing. What’s more, our means to explore this world is a drastic improvement over the original Blasphemous. The end result is a game that is as enjoyable as it is unsettling.

Blasphemous 2 - The penitent one dashes past a skeleton holding a candelabra.

Salve Regina

Rather than my usual habit of dryly summarising the plot, let me see if I can paint a picture of this world instead. In the world of Blasphemous 2, everything revolves around the Miracle. This is a vague, deity-like being that has bestowed its blessings upon the world and its inhabitants. Unfortunately, those blessings have reduced most of the population into tortured, grotesque versions of themselves. One lad had a dream about bees making a hive in his soul and awoke to find he was continually disgorging honey. I’d maybe just convert to Buddhism at that point.

The themes of guilt and penance are as strong as they were in the original Blasphemous and a large part of the joy is just seeing what you’re going to run into next. Talking to the inhabitants, you get the sense that the only constant in this dying world is faith. At times, it feels like you’ve climbed into twisted versions of classic religious paintings, as people bemoan what they’ve been blessed with. Like you’ve climbed into The Supper At Emmaus and everyone’s moaning about how they’re sick of eternally eating chicken. Into this world awakes The Penitent One, forced again to go on a journey of penance.

This time, his job is to prevent the birth of another child of the Miracle. If that sounds familiar, it’s because we tangled with the last one at the end of the original game. Not too keen to do that again. There’s a lot of world to fight through before we get to that point though. The core gameplay has been tightened up a lot. Jumping feels nice and smooth and chaining together a dash, slash and parry flows very well. Platforming no longer feels like a chore either, as everything feels a little faster than it did before. It crossed off one of the major gripes I had with Blasphemous.

Blasphemous 2 - A large skeleton boss strikes the Penitent One as he parries the blow.

Et Concepit De Spiritu Sancto

The tighter gameplay focus is crucial because the Metroidvania format demands backtracking. This became something of a frustration in the original but Blasphemous 2 makes exploration a joy. There are lots of unique items and small storylines to keep you poking around in the corners. The world is expansive and different areas feel distinct, both due to the visuals and Carlos Viola’s excellent score. There’s a lot fine attention to detail as well. In one area, I was bludgeoning what appeared to be monks lashed to coffins. After killing one, I noticed that the background of the area was littered with them, making me feel like I’d stepped into a bizarre mausoleum.

There’s a good deal of enemy variety too, each with their own unique death animations. The bosses all stand out too. It’s extremely impressive. On the subject of enemies, let’s look at the combat. This time around, we have a choice of three weapons: twin rapiers, a heavy flail and a chunky sword. This gives us a choice of fast, strong or balanced. I tended to flit between the flail and the sword, depending on the enemy, which reflects good design. They double as your movement mechanics too, so you can’t leave any to gather dust. There’s a strong dodge and parry focus, which is necessary as enemies hit hard. It’s still a brutally difficult game, not least because the Penitent One is a bit of a drama queen and takes a while to get back into the action after taking a blow.

Is it perhaps too hard? Well, my metric for that is to see whether I blamed the game or myself for a death. Invariably with Blasphemous 2, it was myself. The stun after being hit was frustrating but getting hit in the first place was my fault. So with that crossed off, do I have any gripes? Well, there are a few annoying enemy types, like the ones that pop up without warning and explode. I’m also not keen on the ‘Guilt’ system when you die. It locks off a section of Fervour (think MP) and increases the drop rate of upgrade tokens. That’s fine. What grates a little is that it drops defence. I don’t like mechanics that punish me for trying to learn enemy patterns. These are minor quibbles though, not really worth a flagellation. Maybe just a whip with a rolled up towel.

Blasphemous 2 - The Penitent One fights two ghostly figures in coffins, who are throwing spears at him.

Verbum Caro Factum Est

Blasphemous 2 made me realise that the spice that’s been missing from a lot of metroidvanias is an interesting, unexpected world. It’s walking into a boss room and seeing a man suddenly explode into a gigantic skeleton or turn into what looks a giant iron maiden. It’s seeing a giant man carrying a baby, with a few extra features that are thoroughly disturbing. It all works together to create a wonderful atmosphere. The good combat and movement, and challenging boss fights, are the icing on the cake.

It’s worth mentioning that Blasphemous 2 doesn’t feel like a distinct entity from the original Blasphemous. It’s a direct story continuation from the DLC, for one. This lack of innovation might have knocked a few points off other titles but the world of Blasphemous is so idiosyncratic that I found I didn’t mind it. It’s just an interesting place to be. Now that the major gameplay frustrations have been cleaned up, the world has become a lot more accessible. If you fancy an evening of guilt, penance, and giant skeletons, then you can’t do much better than Blasphemous 2.

The Evolution of Gambling in Canada: Tracing its Historical Roots, Current Landscape, and Prospects Ahead

0

Gambling has a long and intriguing history in Canada, with its roots tracing back to the early indigenous cultures. Over time, gambling has evolved into a significant industry, featuring various games, and platforms. In this article, we’ll go back in time to trace gambling in Canada back to its roots, analyzing how the activity came to be what it is today, and the prospects ahead.

Historical Origins

Indigenous peoples in Canada had their own unique games and forms of gambling, which served as both entertainment and cultural practices. These activities were often linked to spiritual beliefs and played important roles in community gatherings. As European settlers arrived, they introduced new forms of gambling, such as lotteries, to raise funds for public projects like building roads and bridges.

During the 19th century, horse racing gained popularity, leading to the establishment of racetracks across the country. This marked the first significant form of organized gambling in Canada, drawing crowds to watch and bet on horse races. These racetracks laid the foundation for the development of a broader gambling industry in the years to come.

The Birth of Modern Casinos

Legalized gambling in Canada can be traced back to the early 1800s when Montreal served as a central trading post for fur. By 1892, the popularity of gambling had exploded and there were six casinos in operation across the country.

At first, gambling in Canada was only available to the wealthy. Expensive membership fees meant you needed to have a fortune to get a chance to partake. The first casino in Canada opened its doors in 1892 in Niagara Falls. Just two years after that, the first ever legal gambling destination in Canada was created at the Quebec Club in Montreal. The popularity of gambling among the upper class in Ottawa kept surging, with the opening of the Rideau Club in 1898.

The general public had to wait until the 20th century before they could access any form of gambling. In 1910, the first government-run lottery in Canada was established in Quebec. With its success, other provinces created their own lottery system. By the mid-20th century, gambling was fully accessible to all people living in Canada.

Online Gambling and Casino License

The 1970s brought licensing and regulation into the gambling industry. Before then, many gambling venues did not have the legal status to operate, leaving many players vulnerable to the law. However, the introduction of licenses did not change much at first. The reasons for this was that licenses were too costly and they were only issued to a limited number of people; the high-end establishments. With time, gambling and casino licenses became widely available.

The Rise of Online Gambling

The 21st century ushered in a new wave of innovation with the advent of online gambling platforms. These platforms offered convenience and accessibility, allowing individuals to engage in various gambling activities from the comfort of their homes. Online casinos, betting sites, and poker platforms became increasingly popular, contributing to the industry’s growth.

In most provinces in Canada, players could only engage in online gambling on government-owned platforms. This lack of variety pushed players to seek offshore gaming sites to enjoy a wide selection of choices.

Current Gambling Landscape

Today, the gambling industry in Canada is thriving. There is a wide variety of options, encompassing a wide range of activities, including land-based casinos, lotteries, sports betting, and online gambling. Each province has its own regulatory framework, ensuring that gambling activities are conducted in a fair and responsible manner. Land-based casinos remain popular destinations for entertainment, while online gambling continues to gain traction, particularly among younger generations.

Future Prospects of Gambling In Canada

The gambling industry plays a vital role in Canada’s economy. It generates substantial revenue for provincial governments, which is channelled into funding essential public services such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure development. Canada’s gambling industry is worth over $15 billion and it could be worth more in the future if more provincial governments open their markets to offshore operators.

Looking ahead, the gambling landscape in Canada holds promise. Advancements in technology, such as augmented reality and  virtual reality, could potentially revolutionize the way people experience gambling.

Preview: No Body

No Body is an old-school title that is filled with wit and crass one-liners. Moreover, it has a plethora of weird and colourful characters and a strange and surreal world to explore. Accordingly, it is oddly oppressive and uncomfortable to play. However, once you get past the oddities, you’ll enjoy a deep title that covers a range of taboo subjects.

This action-turn-based RPG hybrid is developed and published by Ghost Coast Games. What’s more, this dreamy title will make you chuckle at the childish humour and familiar friendly banter. However, it is the heavy themes and the depiction of desperation and suicide that make this stand out. Consequently, this won’t be a game for everyone and the graphic depiction of mental illness, torture, and physical abuse makes this horribly uncomfortable to experience.

Clownface loves to explore dangerous locations.
Clownface explores a dangerous world.

No Body takes you on a twisted adventure.

No Body chucks you into the action with no context at all. This confusing opener was disheartening and frustrating. Yet, if you muddle through the initial weirdness, you “enjoy” a game that somehow grows on you. Additionally, the strange but straightforward combat adds another layer to this surreal adventure title.

You play the part of Clownface. This bizarre protagonist must team up with his friends to destroy anomalies in a place known as “The WELL”. This oppressive location is filled with cruel creatures, treasure, and puzzles. Subsequently, the team must work together to fight large creatures or slash minor minions where they stand. On top of this, there are simple problems to solve, plenty of treasure chests to open, and an array of minor dungeons to explore.

Turn-based action with a twist.

The action flits between turn-based combat and real-time Zelda-like slashing. The latter option requires minimal skill and a chimp could execute this portion of the gameplay. However, turn-based moments require more finesse and a good memory.

Each of the unusual creatures belongs to a particular category. What’s more, they have a weakness that must be uncovered by the team. Whenever you encounter a foul monster, you must use your senses to identify its weakness. Whether you taste, touch, listen, smell, or look, it will alter the course of each encounter. If you pick the wrong sense, you give your opponent the upper hand. However, if you choose wisely, you will weaken your enemy and eventually, they will enter a state called “No Body”.

“No Body” allows your team to manipulate the creature and kill them. Yet, though this element is vital, it was frustrating to identify which sense to use correctly. Fortunately, there were written clues to help you on your way, but most were cryptic and this made the hint too ambiguous for my liking.

A faceless individual is surrounded by large white hands.
Another ominous image.

Visual novel elements.

The fighting and exploration were great. Yet, it was the intriguing lore and excellent story writing that impressed me the most. The slower portion of the gameplay flows like a visual novel. Each character has a key part to play, and it was the bond between the group that made this portion tick.

I adored the blend of familiar characters. Clownface, The Witch, Marked, Angel, and TOB-13 were sly and sarcastic, but loving towards each other. It was this love/hate relationship that worked wonderfully against the surreal backdrop. Furthermore, though the story wasn’t always clear, the excellent protagonists and their bonds were fascinating to explore.

No Body is rough and dated.

I love a pixelated game. However, I think No Body could have been more polished. The odd stage design and unique character models leave a lot to be desired. As such, only nostalgia-fuelled gamers will appreciate the crass colour scheme and the confined and semi-open-world-level design.

Though the overworld and exploration elements left you wanting, I enjoyed the excellent combat elements. The detailed character models and basic UI were distinctly old-school. As such, I liked the roughness and the often unexpected twists.

The audio focused on annoying sound bites! This was an underwhelming decision that quickly grates on you. However, if you can somehow ignore this element, you’ll enjoy the exciting and dramatic soundtrack. Additionally, the sound effects were basic, but they worked perfectly with the overall aesthetic.

Clownface is held by a weird creature.
That is pretty creepy!

The controls are basic but suitable.

I liked the developer’s desire to create a simple-to-understand title. Consequently, the control system is rudimentary but serviceable. However, I disliked the input timings as you repeatedly made mistakes whenever you flitted through the menus. This issue could easily be resolved by a confirm action button. Instead, you may inadvertently select the wrong course of action and your team will suffer as a result.

Though the controls frustrated me, I could have slowed down to advert this issue. What wasn’t a problem, however, was the amount of replay value and longevity. Thankfully, there are 3 endings to enjoy and plenty of side quests to undertake. On top of this, No Body oozes lore and learning the finer elements of this strange world was fascinating.

No Body doesn’t shy away from its responsibilities.

Using taboo themes can lead to tasteless and clichéd ideas. Thankfully, No Body avoids this problem, as it doesn’t shy away from its responsibilities. Though the tough-to-swallow themes are overwhelming, they are wonderfully depicted without being OTT or patronising. As such, you can empathise with the protagonists and enjoy the surreal nature of the plot at the same time. Accordingly, I enjoyed this excellent title and I recommend that you wishlist it here! Review: Th8S Shifter Add-On

The TH8S Shifter Add-On from Thrustmaster is an incredible way to alter your driving setup. This robust but easy-to-use tool is straightforward to install. Moreover, it adds a layer of realism that I didn’t experience with the flappy paddle gearshift. Thankfully, this smooth but obvious addition is perfect for gamers that love a more old-school time.

This great device can be added to any Thrustmaster steering wheel on PC or any console steering wheel that has the Force Feedback racing base. For this review, I was kindly provided with the T248 PlayStation and PC wheel. I won’t be covering this particular device, as Andrew covered it in 2022. If you wish to know his thoughts, click the link here. I used the complete setup on PC, and I was thoroughly impressed with the realism. What’s more, the incredible build quality took me by surprise.

What’s in the box of the Th8S Shifter Add-On?

  • The box is as loud and garish as you’d expect. The red and black livery is combined with striking images and key selling points. Moreover, it is completely recyclable, and that was great.
  • The Th8S Shifter Add-On is surprisingly lightweight. This moderately sized device is easy to handle and can be connected to any flat surface. Thanks to its clamp connection, you are assured of a sturdy and secure unit.
  • Gaming cables. Thrustmaster provides a USB cable as well as a cable to connect the unit to the steering wheel base. Both items have a rubberised finish and appear to be hard-wearing.

Technical aspects.

Racing games demand quick reactions and seamless controls. Thankfully, Thrustmaster has this covered with its incredible steering wheels. Yet, I wasn’t happy with the modern flappy paddle gear shift. Though they work perfectly well, I love that arcade clunk that a manual shifter provides. Fortunately, the Th8S Shifter Add-On replicates this experience.

With 7 forward gears and 1 reverse gear, you have plenty of scope for a realistic driving session. Additionally, it mattered not what style of racing you undertook. As long as you map the controls correctly, the Th8S Shifter Add-On works perfectly every time. What’s more, every gear change worked in conjunction with the study pedals. As such, it enhances your simulation gaming session.

Build quality.

I adored the responsive and smooth movement of this gear shift. Yet, I know that racing games can be hard work on your peripherals. Therefore, it is essential that they are hard-wearing and built to last. Fortunately, the Th8S Shifter Add-On ticks both of these boxes. Thanks to the H.E.A.R.T technology that is derived from Thrustmaster’s top-end shifters, this is built to last and with precision in mind.

On top of this, this gear shifter looks amazing! The 4 cm shift lever is ergonomic whilst maintaining a sport-style finish. As such, it is the perfect accessory if you love rally racing, F1, NASCAR, or truck simulator. Alongside this, the excellent clamp system was easy to use and sturdy. Once the device is attached to your desk or table, it doesn’t move. This was incredible, as the gear shifter got an absolute beating once I got carried away. Consequently, no matter how harsh I was with it, the device never faltered and I never had a problem.

Is the Th8S Shifter Add-On worth it?

If you love the racing genre, then you need the right tools for the job. Accordingly, Thrustmaster is your go-to brand to have the best racing experience. Not only do they provide the best steering wheels, but their add-ons are equally good. Subsequently, if you already have a compatible wheel, then you shouldn’t hesitate to buy this peripheral. However, if you love the genre but don’t have a steering wheel, what are you waiting for? The Th8S Shifter Add-On is a game-changer that shouldn’t be avoided! Furthermore, it is built to last and is easy to use. As such, I loved it and I recommend that you buy it here!

Review: GUNNAR Torpedo-X Razer Edition glasses

The GUNNAR Torpedo-X Razer Edition glasses are a stylish way to improve your gaming experience. These attractive glasses help to prevent eyestrain and fatigue. Furthermore, they block uncomfortable blue light penetration to make every session more pleasurable. On top of this, they are Razer branded, so you know that the build quality will be top-notch.

These glasses will impress you with their amber tint and strong frames. Moreover, they make extended game time a pleasurable experience. As such, your eyes won’t feel tired and scratchy and you’ll be on form from the first game until the last. What’s more, uncomfortable headaches and painful eyes are a thing of the past. Accordingly, if you are serious about topping that leaderboard, you should consider investing.

What’s in the box of the GUNNAR Torpedo-X Razer Edition glasses?

  • Unsurprisingly, the packaging was enticing and attractive. However, it was oddly simple. Before you get to your glasses, you have to open several boxes. This was strange, but I enjoyed the weird solo game of Pass the Parcel.
  • The GUNNAR Torpedo-X Razer Edition glasses are incredible! These lightweight gaming specs are a head-turner. With striking aesthetics and the classic Razer logo, they look amazing.
  • A Razer textile case is provided. This simple fabric bag is enough to keep your glasses safe.
  • Clean the frames with the small but handy cleaning cloth.

Technical aspects.

I don’t want to get too scientific. However, the main selling point of the GUNNAR Torpedo-X Razer Edition glasses is the blue light protection. These incredible lenses block 35% of harmful blue light and 100% of UV. The benefit of this is a vast reduction in fatigue and eye stress. Moreover, they help to prevent both short-term and long-term damage.

Anything that helps to prevent ill health must be applauded. However, to do this and to look great at the same time is a massive bonus. Alongside this, the amber lenses make reading tablets and work documents an unbelievably comfortable task. The sharp whites are mellowed out, and this was great after a long day at work. Additionally, this calmer approach works perfectly when you are gaming. As such, your eyes are less tired and this helps you to compete at the top level.

Build quality.

I’m fortunate that I don’t have to wear glasses. Yet, I loved every moment with these specs. The lightweight frame and stylish lenses look fantastic. Moreover, the striking green-on-black finish was eye-catching. What’s more, the presentation was great, and I adored the textile case as well as the fantastic packaging. In short, Razer maintains its high-end aesthetic.

The oversized lenses may not be everyone’s cup of tea. However, I liked the coverage and the consistency of my peripheral vision. Alongside this, the yellow tint didn’t impact any other colours, and this ensures that your gaming experience isn’t compromised. Furthermore, the padded material on the arms was comfortable, whilst complementing the Razer theme.

Are the GUNNAR Torpedo-X Razer Edition glasses worth it?

Gaming glasses are viewed as an unnecessary purchase. Moreover, they are seen as an elite product that isn’t run of the mill. However, I believe that this viewpoint should be altered. The GUNNAR Torpedo-X Razer Edition glasses are a phenomenal tool that helps to improve every gaming session. Additionally, you don’t have to be a pro to reap the benefits of this product. From the first moment you wear them, you’ll realise that your “gaming career” has changed for the better. Accordingly, I loved these specs and I recommend that you buy them here!

Review: JSAUX 8-in-1 RGB Docking Station

The JSAUX 8-in-1 RGB Docking Station is a must-have device for handheld gamers. If you fancy a convenient way to hook your pride and joy up to a display, then look no further. Moreover, it allows you to attach USB peripherals to enhance your experience further still.

On top of this, the wonderfully vivid Docking Station is compact and sturdy. Additionally, it can charge your machine as you game and you can hard-wire it to any compatible Internet connection. Accordingly, this tiny box delivers an almighty powerful punch.

You may be thinking to yourself, “What’s the point? Purchasing a handheld device is all about the tiny screen and portability.” Now, both points are fair. However, modern handheld machines are beefed-up enough to play all sorts of high-end and retro games. Furthermore, with the expansion of affordable controllers and wireless mouse and keyboard sets, the JSAUX 8-in-1 RGB Docking Station makes perfect sense. Subsequently, this is the ideal tool to improve your gaming setup.

What’s in the box of the JSAUX 8-in-1 RGB Docking Station?

  • The packing is understated but informative. Furthermore, it keeps the contents protected and it can be recycled.
  • The JSAUX 8-in-1 RGB Docking Station is surprisingly lightweight and small. This compact device has a pop-out stand for your console, a power button for the RGB lights, and plenty of ports to the rear.
  • An offset USB-C to USB-C cable is provided for the USB-C in port.
  • Understand the basics with the refined user manual.

Technical aspects.

Modern gaming is defined by great picture quality and rapid speeds. No one has the patience for slow data transfer or poor visual performances. Thankfully, the JSAUX 8-in-1 RGB Docking Station delivers a stellar result in both of these aspects. Thanks to the 2xUSB-A 3.0 ports, you get rapid data transfer. Moreover, it expands your compatibility options and this can only be a good thing. On top of this, there is a slower USB-A 2.0 port and a speedy USB-C port to play with.

Alongside this, you enjoy a powerful 100W-PD USB-C port and a stable Gigabit Ethernet connection. The latter option may not be everyone’s cup of tea. However, given the chance, I’ll always choose a wired connection over wireless. What’s more, for those gamers who love to tinker, you can customise your RGB light array! Impressively, there are 6 colour patterns to wow and mesmerise you. Simply plug the device into your PC and get to work using OpenRGB software controls.

Finally, docking stations must deliver excellent visual outputs. With only 1 HDMI port, you may be disappointed. However, this robust and stable connection pushes out 4K gaming at 60Hz. Subsequently, it produces a comfortable performance that I was more than happy with.

Build quality.

RGB products are all about the wow factor! Furthermore, you want every device to sync as best it can. Luckily, thanks to the aforementioned customisation approach, this is achievable. Accordingly, the JSAUX 8-in-1 RGB Docking Station looks great and doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb. Furthermore, the low-lying light strips generate a stylish RGB hue. As such, the vibrant display creates a warm and exciting glow rather than an in-your-face mess. Additionally, the lights can be switched off without impacting performance.

The port placement is well-considered. The USB ports stack together to minimise messy cables. Moreover, the slower USB-A side port was perfect for wireless dongles or shorter wired controllers. The retractable stand activates using a push-release button. Its drawer is large enough for modern devices and can be moved to create a sturdy base. On top of this, the device is lightweight but feels robust whilst looking great. Its sharp lines and darkened finish promote a sci-fi edge that I loved.

Is the JSAUX 8-in-1 RGB Docking Station worth it?

If the JSAUX 8-in-1 RGB Docking Station was only compatible with the Steam Deck, you may question its validity. However, it boasts a versatile approach that works with any USB-C gaming device. Additionally, this compact docking station is inexpensive, whilst delivering outstanding results. Thanks to the 4K@60Hz output and the high-speed USB ports, gaming has never felt so good. Consequently, I loved this stylish device and I recommend that you buy it here! Alongside this, why not pair it with the incredible JSAUX RGB backplate?

Review: JSAUX RGB backplate

The JSAUX RGB backplate is the perfect tool to customise your Steam Deck. This easy-to-install accessory is vibrant, strong, and undeniably comfortable. Moreover, it has additional vents, a choice of back buttons, and a wonderful RGB light array.

The modding community is alive and kicking. As such, you see some incredible Steam Decks. Whether you want a new hard drive, thumb sticks, anti-glare screen, or personalised plates, the world is your oyster. However, many of these modifications are daunting. Consequently, your average gamer will avoid them like the plague. Yet, the JSAUX RGB backplate is a piece of cake to work with. Thankfully, there are plenty of know-how videos and plenty of wonderful guides to talk you through the process. Subsequently, if you want a stylish finish to your prized possession, I suggest you keep on reading.

What’s in the box of the JSAUX RGB backplate?

  • The packaging is relatively understated. The compact box is adorned with imagery and relevant key selling points. Moreover, it is recyclable, and that’s a massive plus point.
  • The JSAUX RGB backplate is lightweight and easy to work with. Furthermore, every sensitive area is well protected, and this prevents unnecessary damage in transit.
  • You are provided with 3 different profiles of back buttons. Accordingly, you can get the right fit for your play style.
  • Tools and screws. This is a one-stop shop. As such, you don’t need to worry about providing your own tools.
  • Silicone grips are provided that highlight the RGB lighting.
  • A USB-C cable is suplied to charge the RGB battery.
  • The user manual is basic and could have been more descriptive.

Technical aspects.

The JSAUX RGB backplate is one of the easiest mods I’ve come across. Its plug-and-play approach can be tackled by any DIY enthusiast. Therefore, you needn’t be afraid of taking your Deck apart. Instead, you can confidently tackle this project with minimal effort.

The backplate has additional vents to help cool down this wonderful handheld device. Additionally, a helpful thermal paste is used to reduce temperatures further still. This excellent choice alleviates a common issue with the Steam Deck. If you play any hard-hitting title, the Deck burns up like a firework on bonfire night. However, the inclusion of extra vents and thermal paste reduces the temperatures greatly.

Alongside the helpful vents, you have a battery-powered RGB light rig. These vibrant lights add some razzmatazz to your device. Furthermore, they can be powered on and off with ease thanks to the rubberised tactile button. You can flit between red, pink, blue, green, and a rainbow effect. This was fantastic as there is a colour for every taste. What’s more, the placement of the light strips ensures that it doesn’t impact your view of the screen. Instead, it creates a wonderful hue that lights up your hands.

Putting it together.

Now, I’m not going to do a know-how guide. Instead, I’m going to highlight how straightforward this is to work with. Thanks to the hardened plastic, this is easy to handle. Additionally, the well-labelled protective sheets are straightforward to remove and this was reassuring.

If you don’t like the stock back buttons, you can change them within a couple of minutes. By unscrewing the internal screws, you can remove and replace the buttons. Once this is sorted, it’s time to use the rubber finger protectors. These god-awful-looking items prevent static and help to protect your electronic device. Next, you have to undo 8 screws and use the prying tool to remove the back. This was the most daunting part, but again, there was nothing to worry about. The Deck comes apart easily and patience and a methodical approach are a must. With the backplate off, you simply push the new one on, clip it into place, and screw it in. Finally, switch on your RGB and enjoy the new look.

Build quality.

I was impressed by the exceptional build quality of a reasonably affordable accessory. What’s more, every button feels great, and the plastic doesn’t feel cheap. Alongside this, the RGB lights are striking, bright, and great to look at. Whenever this is used against a darkened surface, the lighting pops. As such, this would look incredible in any gaming stream or whenever you are commuting to work.

The choice of 3 different back buttons was a winner. I opted for the stock version, however, I can see the attraction of the other profiles. Another element I liked was the robust RGB button and its charging port. This simple switch is hard-wearing and should last some rough and tumble.

Is the JSAUX RGB backplate worth it?

I’ve resisted all temptation to mod my Steam Deck until this point. I’ve been petrified of breaking my prized gaming toy. However, the JSAUX RGB backplate is a game-changer. I loved its style and build quality. Yet, more importantly, I adored how easy it was to install the device. Accordingly, this looks great and will stand out from the crowd. As such, I recommend that you buy it here!

Mobile Casino Apps vs. Browser-Based Gaming: Which Is Better for Players?

2

Mobile gaming is growing, giving players two popular options: mobile casino apps and browser-based gaming. Choosing the best platform depends on individual preferences, device capability, and internet connection. This article compares the two platforms to help you decide which suits your gaming needs better. We will delve into key aspects such as accessibility, game variety, and user experience, among others.

Mobile Casino Apps: Pros and Cons

Mobile casino applications have carved a niche due to user-centric approach. For many, they represent the future of mobile gaming. Here are a few benefits they provide:

  • Enhanced User Experience: The apps ensure optimal graphics and fluid gameplay,  design and interface can better harness portable devices’ capabilities.
  • Exclusive Features and Rewards: Users often enjoy accessing unique features and bonuses, and exclusive offerings can enhance gaming.
  • Convenience at Your Fingertips: Playing your favorite game is as easy as a simple tap. This spares you from the redundant steps of opening a browser and logging in, thus creating an effortless gaming experience.

With such advantages, it’s no wonder many players are gravitating towards mobile casino apps. The tailored approach promises an immersive experience. So, everyone who wants to experience the thrill of mobile gambling can find top Australian mobile casinos at the AussieBestCasinos reviews offered by professionals. This platform lists the most reliable casinos in Australia, detailing pros and cons, so you can make an informed decision.

There are also potential downsides which include:

  • Storage Space: One main concern with apps is the storage on your device. Over time, as more games and features are added, the app’s size might increase, hogging valuable space.
  • Update and Compatibility Issues: Mobile applications need regular updates. Sometimes, the updates introduce bugs or compatibility issues with certain devices. Players might find themselves waiting for patches or solutions.
  • Limited Game Selection: Apps sometimes have a limited game library compared to their browser-based counterparts. Some games available on the browser might not be present on the app.

Applications offer a personalized and streamlined experience but come with a few challenges. The rise of mobile apps demonstrates their appeal despite drawbacks remaining a practical choice for many gaming enthusiasts.

Browser-Based Gaming: Pros and Cons

In the digital age, browser-based gaming has emerged as a vital platform. These games offer players an alternative to downloadable ones. Here’s a look at their pros:

  • No Downloads are Required: A major advantage of browser-based gaming is that it doesn’t need downloads or installations. Users just go to the casino site, sign in, and start playing. This protects precious storage space on devices with tight capacity limits.
  • Always Updated: Playing games on web-based platforms means you always play the most up-to-date version. There is no delay for updates or fixes, guaranteeing uninterrupted enjoyment.
  • Universal Compatibility: Browser games are designed to work on a wide range of devices, spanning various operating systems. Gaming ensures you’re never left out on an Android or iOS browser.

Despite these advantages, there are some limitations to browser-based gaming. Here are a few possible downsides:

  • Potential Graphics Compromise: Browser games might not offer the same graphics quality level.
  • Optimisation Concerns: Some games, especially older ones, may not be optimized for mobile browsers. This can lead to slower load times, or less-than-ideal gameplay.

In conclusion, browser-based gaming offers players a flexible, accessible platform without downloading. It ensures players enjoy their favorite games, irrespective of their device or OS.

User Experience and Gameplay

When evaluating mobile gaming, user experience and gameplay quality stand at the forefront. Both mobile casino applications and browser-based platforms have their unique strengths in such areas.

Dedicated apps often offer a simple gaming experience. The games are tailored for mobile devices, ensuring optimized graphics and fluid animations. With intuitive interfaces, navigating through the app becomes a breeze. The very structure of the apps lends itself to a more immersive gaming environment. As they’re built with the device in mind, responsiveness is high, meaning faster load times and minimal lag during gameplay.

Browser-based platforms shine in convenience. The platforms are a godsend for players wary of downloads or those with storage constraints. There’s no commitment to install, yet a vast gaming world awaits. Many modern browser games have improved the ease of navigation. Plus, such titles cater to players across various devices, ensuring a broad reach.

Game Selection and Variety

The variety of game offerings often sways players’ choice between apps and browser-based platforms. Each avenue provides its unique gaming landscape.

Some casinos have identified the growing trend towards mobile gaming and have thus invested in applications and might offer a richer array of apps games. Exclusive games can be a significant draw enticing players to download the app for a unique session they won’t find elsewhere.

Some casinos pride themselves on expansive browser-based libraries. They ensure web platforms are as diverse and rich as any app could be. Such platforms are ideal for players who value the breadth and don’t want the hassle of downloads. The flexibility of accessing a vast game selection without the commitment of an app is a significant advantage.

Security and Privacy

In online casinos, security and privacy stand as pivotal concerns. Both mobile casino apps and browser-based gaming platforms face unique challenges.

For app-based gaming, security starts with the source. Players must download them from official stores like the Apple App Store. This ensures the app is legitimate, reducing the risk of malware or fraud. Reputable applications use end-to-end encryption to secure transactions and player data. It makes unauthorized access almost impossible.

HTTPS protocols are a mark of security for those who prefer gaming through a browser. Reputable online casinos utilize advanced SSL encryption to protect information transfers. This guarantees that player details remain private and safe from potential breaches.

FAQ

  • Which platform offers a better gaming experience?

Both have some merits – mobile apps often provide optimized gameplay and exclusive features. Browser platforms offer flexibility without downloads. The best choice hinges on individual preferences.

  • Are mobile casino apps safe to use?

Yes, when downloaded from official app stores and reputable sources. Ensure the casino is licensed, and look for reviews or certifications that vouch for its security measures.

  • Do browser-based platforms have fewer games than apps?

No. Game variety depends on the casino’s focus. Some casinos may offer a broader range on the browser platform, while others prioritize app selection.
