Here is our review of the Amazon Echo Auto (2nd Gen).

Echo Auto is a hands-free Alexa car accessory that helps you make the most of your drive. Just ask Alexa to play music, make calls, set reminders and more. Featuring a slim design that’s easy to place in your car, 5 microphones that can hear you over music, aircon or road noise, and a fast charger to charge your phone on the go.

Driving is more fun with Alexa as your companion. Stream your favourite music and podcasts from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify and Deezer, or listen live to radio stations. Just ask Alexa to play music, a new podcast, the news or a best-selling Audible audiobook.

Ask Alexa to make calls. Use your voice to update to-do lists, set reminders, check calendars, share your ETA or drop in to Alexa-enabled devices at home to say that you’re on your way.

Echo Auto works with compatible smart home devices, so Alexa can help set the thermostat, turn off lights and more while you’re away from home.

What’s in the box?

The box contains the Echo Auto, cable, car charger, stick on pads and some instructions.

A Closer Look

Final Thoughts

To set up Echo Auto, use one of the sticky pads and place that on a hard surface in your car. Then you fix the Echo Auto to that and connect the other end into a USB port in your car or if you haven’t got a USB port in the car you can use the supplied cigarette lighter adaptor. You can also use that to fast charge your phone too.

Then you must complete the setup using the Alexa app on your phone. Then whenever you get in your car, make sure your phones volume is all the way up and that you have Bluetooth enabled (or use the supplied aux cable). You can then use Echo Auto for whatever you need, whether it’s news, weather or playing music. You can also use it for anything the Alexa app controls – so if you have smart heating or lighting at home, you can tell Alexa to switch it on whilst you are driving home.

There are two buttons on the Echo Auto – Action and Mute. If you press Mute then it will stop listening to you and you will have to press the action button to use it.

The speaker is quite good and should suffice for most situations.

The Amazon Echo Auto (2nd Gen) is available now priced around £59.99.
