LG Officially Shows Off the LG G Flex

LG has today officially after all the leaks for this device, has now took the wraps off the LG G Flex, a smartphone curved to follow the contour of the face, the first device to offer such a design in the smartphone market. The latest device in LG’s premium G Series, the G Flex incorporates proprietary innovations from other LG companies in the form of the display and battery that have never been seen before. The LG G Flex also boasts new user experience (UX) features that take advantage of the curved form factor.

“The LG G Flex is the best representation yet of how a smartphone should be curved,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile
Communications Company. “The LG G Flex with its distinctive design, innovative hardware and consumer-centric UX represents the most significant development in the smartphone space since smartphone became part of our regular vocabulary.”

LG_G_Flex

Form + Function: Design that Understands Human Curves

The vertically curved design of the LG G Flex reduces the distance between one’s mouth to the microphone when the device is held against the ear, as traditional telephone handsets used to. The LG G Flex employs a curvature arc that is optimized for the average face, to deliver improved voice and sound quality. The curved form increases the sound level by 3dB compared to typical flat smartphones. The curved design also offers a more reassuring grip and fits more comfortably in one’s back pocket. What’s more, in landscape mode, the display offers an IMAX-like experience, with the result being the most comfortable viewing angle for watching videos or playing games.
LG_G_Flex-2
LG G Flex also features the Rear Key first introduced in the LG G2. Devoid of any buttons on the sides, there is less chance of accidentally powering off the
phone and the convenience of using one’s index finger to adjust the volume when conversing is maintained.

Innovation Delivered Through Collaboration

The development of LG G Flex was only possible through the successful collaboration with sister companies LG Display and LG Chem. The 6-inch display
found in the G Flex is the world’s largest Plastic OLED (POLED) display developed and mass produced specifically for smartphones. The ultra-thin, ultra-light flexible POLED display and curved OLED panel are built on plastic substrates instead of glass, giving LG G Flex its unique shape and durability. The POLED display is brighter and more precise thanks to the application of Real RGB, which contains all three sub-pixels — red, green and blue — in one pixel.

LG Chem developed the world’s first curved battery technology specifically for application in LG G Flex. The curved battery in the G Flex is designed with LG
Chem’s patented Stack & Folding technology, which reduces the physical stress on the battery pack when in the curved form and provides better stability and performance. Despite its thin form, the LG G Flex battery has a capacity of 3,500mAh, enough power for more than a full day of use.

User-Centered Technologies

Among the several new technologies, the LG G Flex is the first smartphone to apply a “Self Healing” coating on the back cover. The elastic coating has the
ability to recover from the daily wear-and-tear scratches and nicks that un-cased smartphones are likely to receive, keeping the G Flex looking newer longer.

Users of LG G Flex will have a wider selection in the ability to enjoy in various format of music — MP3, CD quality or 24 bit/192kHz Hi-Fi playback. UX
features, such as KnockON, Guest Mode and Plug & Pop, which were positively received when first introduced in the LG G2, can also found in the LG G Flex.
The LG G Flex also includes an array of new UX features:

LG_G_Flex-1

– QTheater gives users quick access to photos, videos and YouTube right from the lock screen. By touching the screen and dragging outward along the curved
surface with both fingers, the apps appear with the effect of theater curtains being drawn.

– Dual Window divides the wide 6-inch screen into two separate windows for more effective multitasking.

– Swing Lockscreen alters the image on the lockscreen depending on how the G Flex is held.

– Face Detection Indicator displays the LED on the Rear Key in green to confirm status of face detection and focus.

– Camera Timer flashes the Rear Key LED to indicate that the countdown has begun.

– Urgent Call Alert flashes the LED on the Rear Key in red when several consecutive calls from the same person go unanswered.

The LG Flex will be available in Korea starting in November through all three major local carriers. Availability in additional markets will be announced thereafter.

Sony Announces the First Information of Day One Patch for the PS4

1

Today Sony released first information on the day one PlayStation 4 system update version 1.50 that adds two important features.

With the 1.50 patch that will weigh in at 300MB, with Sony says it estimates, will take about 5-15 minutes to download with a broadband speed of 5~10Mpbs, will be released alongside the PS4 in North America on 15th November.

It adds remote play with the Vita and gameplay sharing via the Share button on the DualShock 4 controller.

PS4_09

Sony listed the features that will be available at the launch of the PS4. They are republished below.

  • Remote Play: Users will be able to access PS4 titles displayed on their living room TVs and play them on a PS Vita system over Wi-Fi networks by using PS4 Link. SCE anticipates that most PS4 titles will be playable on the PS Vita system through Remote Play. (Remote Play will not be enabled on all games, including those that require peripherals such as PlayStation Camera or certain third party peripherals.)
  • Second Screen: Users can use the PS4 Link application for the PS Vita system, and PlayStation App for iPhone, iPad, and Android based smartphones and tablets, to use these devices as second screens in supported titles. PlayStation App has the ability to enable users to interact with games with their mobiles devices. For example on The Playroom, a title pre-installed in all PS4 systems that requires PlayStation Camera, users can draw pictures on their mobile device screens and flick them towards the TV. The images then appear as a 3D object within the game.
  • Record, take screen shots, and upload gameplay effortlessly: The PS4 system provides dedicated, “always on” video encoding systems that enables seamless uploading of gameplay. Users can share their epic triumphs by simply hitting the “SHARE button” on PS4 Wireless Controller (DUALSHOCK4), take screenshots or scan through the last 15 minutes of gameplay, tag it and return to the game – the video uploads as the user plays. At the PS4 system’s launch in North America, users will be able to share their images and videos with friends on Facebook and screenshots with followers on Twitter.
  • Broadcast and spectate gameplay: The PS4 system also enhances social spectating by enabling users to broadcast their gameplay in real-time to game fans around the globe, using Ustream and Twitch live internet streaming services. SCE provides two ways for users to view live broadcasts. First, the Live from PlayStation application on PS4 aggregates streams from all PlayStation users. Second, users can spectate friends’ PS4 gameplay from PCs, and applications such as Ustream, Twitch, and browsers, which are installed on their mobile devices. These applications can be easily started up via PlayStation App, and users can also use these applications to post comments to gameplay broadcasts. Furthermore, users with PlayStation Camera can stream camera images and microphone sounds along with their live gameplay broadcast.
  • Play as you download: This feature enables users to play supported digital titles as they are being downloaded. When a game is purchased, users can start playing after PS4 downloads a portion of the data, while the rest of the game is downloaded in the background during actual gameplay. Games may be downloaded in stand-by mode.
  • Multi log-in: A maximum of four users can log-in to a single PS4 system simultaneously. These players can use their own save data to play games, and also earn trophies on their own Sony Entertainment Network accounts even when playing a multi-player game together on a single PS4 system.
  • Party (Voice chat): By using the Mono Headset bundled with the PS4 system, users will be able to chat with up to eight friends enjoying different applications or games. Furthermore, users can use Party to chat between PS4 and PS Vita systems.
  • Face recognition and voice commands: Users with PlayStation Camera will be able to register their facial image onto their PS4 system, and login to their system using facial recognition instead of DUALSHOCK4. Furthermore, users can use either the microphone of the Mono Head set connected to DUALSHOCK4, or PlayStation Camera to navigate through the PS4 home screen (PlayStation Dynamic Menu) with voice commands to start up games and shutdown the system, among other features.
  • Background music player: Users can enjoy gameplay while listening to music in the background with Music Unlimited, a cloud-based digital music service. Users can also voice chat with friends while listening to music.
  • Online Multiplayer: PlayStation Plus (PS Plus) members will be able to play PS4 titles online with other players via the network. PS Plus makes it easy for members to join available online multiplayer matches in a variety of ways, including the ability to easily join a game from a live stream broadcast or Party voice chats.
  • Blu-ray Disc and DVD player: Users can enjoy not only gaming on their PS4 system, but also Blu-ray and DVD video contents (at first time use, users must connect to the internet to activate this feature).

Sony also confirmed that some features will not be available at launch of the PlayStation 4, such as “suspend/resume mode”, this feature that keeps the PS4 system in a low power state and promptly takes users back to their game. Sony said it will provide more information on this in the near future.

Sony also announced it will release the free to download PlayStation App on 13th November in North America and 22nd November in Europe.

This app which will be available from the iOS App Store and Google Play, lets you use smartphones and tablets as second screens in supported PlayStation 4 games. You can also use it to access PlayStation Network features such as Friend Lists and Trophies on the app aswell.

BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea – Episode 1 Dated

0

2K and Irrational Games announced today that BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea – Episode 1, the second add-on content pack for BioShock Infinite, will be available for download worldwide on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows PC starting 12th November.

BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea – Episode 1, developed by Irrational Games, the studio behind the original BioShock and BioShock Infinite, features Rapture as you’ve never seen it before—a shining jewel at the bottom of the ocean, built almost entirely from scratch in the BioShock Infinite game engine. Join Booker and Elizabeth in a film noir-style story that places them in a shining, pristine Rapture on the eve of its fall from grace. Explore the underwater city, try your hand at a grift or two, and even encounter some old “friends” from the original BioShock.

BioShock Infinite - Burial at Sea

The combat experience has been rebalanced and reworked with a greater emphasis on stealth and resource management that merges the best parts of BioShock and BioShock Infinite. It includes a new weapon, an old favorite weapon from the original BioShock, the return of the weapon wheel, a new Plasmid, new Gear, and Tears.

BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea – Episode 1 will be available via online marketplaces on all participating platforms starting November 12, and can be purchased separately for £9.99, or as part of the BioShock Infinite Season Pass. The Season Pass, which is currently available for purchase, contains over £23 of playable content for £15.99, including both Burial at Sea episodes, the previously released Clash in the Clouds add-on pack, as well as the Early Bird Special Pack that has powerful weapon upgrades, exclusive gold weapon skins, and infusion bottles to upgrade player abilities.

“This is a love letter to the fans, but it’s also the beginning of a story that will give gamers a new perspective on the BioShock universe,” said Ken Levine, creative director of Irrational Games. “With Burial at Sea, we built a Rapture not from BioShock and BioShock Infinite scraps and pieces, but with environments almost entirely crafted from scratch.”

Still in development at Irrational Games, and also included in the Season Pass, is BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea – Episode 2, which brings gamers something they have been asking for since they first met the character of Elizabeth: the chance to see the world through her eyes and face challenges as she would. In this second episode of Burial at Sea, players will experience a new storyline, and a new stealth-oriented gameplay experience.

The previously released add-on content pack, Clash in the Clouds, allows players to take Elizabeth and Booker through a series of unique and intense challenges, and combine the diverse toolset of weapons, Vigors, Gear, Tears and Sky-Lines in all-new ways. This combat-focused content features 60 Blue Ribbon challenges in four stunning new environments. By completing challenges, players will delve deeper into the world of BioShock Infinite via the Columbian Archeological Society, gaining access to Voxophones, Kinetoscopes, concept art and more.

BioShock Infinite is rated PEGI 18 and is available now for the Xbox 360, PS3, Mac, and Windows PC.

Titanfall 001

“To celebrate the launch of Xbox One we have designed one of our most integrated and comprehensive global campaigns ever.  The campaign is a celebration of our fans – an invitation to a new generation of games and entertainment.  And it showcases experiences that only Xbox One can deliver,” said Robert Matthews, General Manager of Consumer Marketing, Xbox. “Through the authenticity of the ads, to a massive 75 city experiential tour, to social campaigns that encourage their participation, to creative media executions that let fans become directly involved – we are inviting the world to celebrate the launch of Xbox One.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1mfIg1I3zE

The Xbox One television campaign launches in the U.S. on October 27 during Sunday Night Football on NBC and will subsequently roll-out around the world. Titled “Invitation,” the advertising is centred on an invitation to fans to enter a new generation of games and entertainment. The campaign highlights characters and content from games, sports, movies and TV shows that are part of Xbox One, who literally come into your world and invite you into theirs. The campaign was directed by award-winning director Bryan Buckley with visual effects from The Mill.

“The ads were designed to celebrate that for the first time, the best in gaming is coming together with the best of entertainment, all-in-one place,” said Matthews. “Authenticity was a key goal for the campaign design, from including one of only three McLaren P1’s in the world to represent ‘Forza Motorsport 5,’ to including Liverpool football star and England national team captain Stephen Gerrard, to actor Zachary Quinto representing Spock.”

The next installment of the blockbuster Batman: Arkham video game franchise is available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, with the Windows PC (boxed) and Wii U system versions available from 8th November.  Also available today is Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate for the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS.

Developed by WB Games Montréal, Batman: Arkham Origins is based on DC Comics’ core Batman license.  The game features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline set several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, the first two critically acclaimed games of the franchise.  Taking place before the rise of Gotham City’s most dangerous criminals, the game showcases a young, unrefined Batman as he faces the defining moment of his early career and sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight.

Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, a companion game to Batman: Arkham Origins,  is a 2.5-D handheld game developed by Armature Studio, which brings the core Batman Arkham pillars, such as FreeFlow combat and Batman’s infamous gadgets, to the PlayStation Vita handheld entertainment system and Nintendo handheld format for the first time. Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate allows players to continue the storyline of the console version and discover more details of the Dark Knight’s past.

“It’s a big responsibility taking on the Batman: Arkham franchise and the WB Games Montréal team has dedicated itself to giving players an experience that is worthy of the name,” said Reid Schneider, Vice President and Executive Producer, WB Games Montréal.  “Batman: Arkham Origins allows fans to play through a new take on Batman’s story while experiencing some enhanced game-play mechanics.”

Batman: Arkham Origins features a pivotal tale set on Christmas Eve where Batman is hunted by eight of the deadliest assassins from the DC Comics Universe. Along the way, players will experience a fresh take on iconic Batman characters, including The Joker, Black Mask, Penguin, Deathstroke, Bane, Deadshot, Copperhead and others yet to be revealed.

Also new to the franchise is the online multiplayer mode, which is developed by Splash Damage. Friends and foes can play online in 3v3v2 gameplay that blends traditional Arkham gameplay with third-person shooter mechanics.  Gamers can hunt as Batman or Robin against the most challenging opponents yet – friends and other online gamers – or take a walk on the dark side as a Super-Villain Elite and be part of The Joker or Bane’s gang.  Those playing as a Super-Villain Elite will also have a chance to seize control of either The Joker or Bane for a limited amount of time.

Players looking to extend their gameplay experience can buy the Batman: Arkham Origins Season Pass now for £15.99 and receive £27.99 worth of content.  The Season Pass is comprised of five of the game’s upcoming downloadable content packs, which includes two exclusive skins, as well new content from the Batman Arkham Initiation Pack and a separate all-new story campaign.  The Initiation Pack content tests Bruce Wayne’s skills of detection, evasion and confrontation among the mysterious temple high in the Paektusan mountains of Korea, where his greatest teacher, Grandmaster Kirigi, is holding a final class.  The Season Pass is available on the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo eShop and Steam.

The Batman: Arkham Origins free-to-play mobile game, developed by NetherRealm Studios for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, is available on the App Store and delivers the stunning graphics and quality gameplay fans have come to expect from the team who brought to market fan favorite mobile games Injustice: Gods Among Us and Batman: Arkham City Lockdown.  The title pits players, as Batman, against a number of DC Comics’ most deadly assassins as they fight their way through Gotham City’s most dangerous locales.  Those who also own the console versions of the game and are registered for a Warner Bros. ID (WBID) account will be able to access exclusive content not available elsewhere.

The PS3™, Xbox 360 and Wii U versions of Batman: Arkham Origins are priced at £49.99 suggested retail; the Windows PC version is priced at £39.99.  The suggested retail price for the Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate handheld game is £39.99.  Also available in limited quantities is the Batman: Arkham Origins Collector’s Edition for PS3 and Xbox 360, priced at £79.99 SRP.
