CAPCOM Unveil Resident Evil Spin off ‘Project Resistance’ at TGS 2019

0

Today at Tokyo Game Show, Capcom unveiled a new type of survival horror set in the Resident Evil universe, Project Resistance . This asymmetric online five-person multiplayer game combines both cooperative and competitive dynamics, with the opportunity for players to create their own survival horror experience. Four Survivors must work together to escape an insidious experiment and outsmart the twisted Mastermind behind the scenes.

Capcom is developing Project Resistance in partnership with NeoBards Entertainment, utilizing the proprietary RE Engine known for high quality gameplay and remarkable visual fidelity in games such as Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry 5. It is currently being developed for the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox One X, and Steam.

In each 4v1 match, one Mastermind player tracks the four Survivors through a network of security cameras, staying one step ahead at every turn to prevent their escape. The Mastermind plots a deadly course by wielding a strategic deck of cards to create dangerous obstacles for the Survivors, such as summoning vicious creatures, setting traps, manipulating the environment, and weaponizing security cameras. He or she can also directly control zombies in play. In addition, Mastermind players can even step into the trench coat of the towering, deadly Tyrant for the first time in franchise history. In turn, the Survivors must cooperatively work together as a team to fend off the Mastermind’s attacks and complete puzzle style mission objectives to escape the map before time runs out. Each Survivor possesses unique skills to help their team overcome the Mastermind’s challenges and survive the sinister experiment.

There will be a special early access opportunity to playtest this working project at TGS. In addition, Xbox Insider Program members and RE Ambassadors will be eligible for a chance to participate in the Project Resistance closed beta on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The closed beta will run from October 4 through October 7.

Registration will be open between Sept. 11 and 18 at https://www.project-resistance.com/en/. More details on Project Resistance and the closed beta will be revealed at a later date.

SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have announced that the latest entry in the RGG / Yakuza series, Yakuza: Like a Dragon (Japanese title – Ryu Ga Gotoku 7) is releasing in Japan on January 16, 2020, for the PlayStation 4, with a Western launch planned for 2020.

Actors Shinichi Tsutsumi, Ken Yasuda, and Kiichi Nakai will be lending their appearances and voices to the game’s main cast members, with Kazuhiro Nakaya voicing the game’s main protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga.

This new game introduces a new main protagonist for the first time since the series’ inception over a decade ago – Ichiban Kasuga, a low-level yakuza member looking to prove his self-worth, and follows him and his motley crew of unlikely allies as they attempt to rise from rags to riches in this modern human drama.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is much more than just a new chapter in the Yakuza series. Much like the new English title itself, Yakuza: Like a Dragon is a complete reimagining of the franchise, a landmark to coincide with the series’ 15th anniversary. With the bulk of the game taking place in the large-scale, painstakingly-realized setting of Ijincho in Yokohama, players will explore an entirely new side of Japan never-before-seen in the series. Not only that, but Yakuza: Like a Dragon’s combat system has undergone a major overhaul, combining Yakuza’s established brawling action with a turn-based RPG battle system.

A Preview look at Pirate Pets and Pirate Emporium coming to Sea of Thieves with Smuggler’s Fortune Update!

0

The next big update for Sea of Thieves lands this week with The Smuggler’s Fortune update, which will bring Pets and the new Emporium Store finally to the game. Watch the new behind the scenes look at how the new store, which will bring real world money purchased cosmetics to the world!

Want to know more about Sea of Thieves’ new premium store? Jon is joined by Executive Producer Joe to discuss how it works, what’s stocked at launch, where to load up on its currency of Ancient Coins and how its offerings will change over time.

The Pirate Emporium arrives with our Smuggler’s Fortune update, bringing in the first selection of purchasable pets! Jon is joined by Design Director Mike and Game Designer Josh to explain what these parrots and monkeys will get up to in the game!

The new in-game currency known as Ancient Coins is purchased with real world money, and it is rather alarming just how expensive the much sought after Pets and new cosmetics items are going to cost players:

So Ancient coins can be purchased in different amounts as shown above (prices will no doubt be like for like in different regions so same amount in British £). Pets will cost 649 Ancient Coins which as you can see, would set you back at least £6.98 which is a lot of money though RARE say in the trailer above that pets are very complicated new characters to the game with their won full behavioural patterns and animations.

The above image taken from the live stream shows the full cost of a new Ship Set which going by the prices of Ancient Coin packs would set you back an astonishing £23.99 to have which to me is just crazy ridiculous pricing. Now RARE have revealed that “Treasure Skeletons” can be found in the would and if shot with a blunderbuss will drop all the Ancient Coins they carry but right now we do not know how much they will drop or how rare they will be to find in the world.

This update is focusing completely on adding microtransactions into Sea of Thieves, and whilst I am one of the fans of the game who have waiting for Pirate Pets ever since year one, this pricing model has already killed my excitement for them sadly.
