The Pro BFG controller from Victrix is something special. This modular beast is the perfect option for gamers who love multiple genres. Moreover, if you like to customise your pad to your liking, then this product will make you smile. Additionally, it is a versatile beast as it can be connected to a PS4, PS5, or PC. As such, you get a lot of bang for your buck and a controller that supports your gameplay style.

Alongside this, it has 4 customisable rear buttons that are linked to 3 user profiles. Consequently, you can give yourself an elite edge that will annihilate your opponents. You must also consider the amazing modular approach. If you wish to change an analogue stick, you can! Alternatively, maybe you want an old-school d-pad…bam, your wish is my command. Furthermore, if you love fighting games, you can swap out the standard buttons and enjoy a 6 button layout instead.

This versatility makes the Pro BFG controller a desirable accessory. Additionally, it is much more affordable than its elite peers and this should help to turn a few heads. What’s more, it can be used wirelessly or wired. Subsequently, the options keep flying, and you can choose the one that is right for you.

Technical aspects.

I’m going to jump right into the missing features. Sadly, the Pro BFG controller has no rumble feature, adaptive triggers, or haptic feedback. However, don’t let these shortcomings put you off. Instead, allow me to talk you through the mountain of positive points. The modular design more than makes up for these Sony staple features. Additionally, the excellent customisable rear buttons are wonderful to use. Their placement is comfortable, and the ample triggers are simple to locate and use. Moreover, a function button allows you to adjust your audio profile, mute your mic, and increase or decrease the game volume.

What’s more, the 20-or-so-hour battery life was suitable for marathon gaming sessions. Yet, if you run out of juice, the controller charges at a fast rate to keep you gaming. Another great feature was the “Tournament Lock” mode. Though this won’t appeal to everyone, but competitive gamers will adore this option. If selected, you cannot accidentally use the system buttons. This is essential as this can disqualify players during official tournaments.

Customisation.

The Pro BFG controller and customisation go hand-in-hand. If you want a longer analogue stick to improve FPS accuracy, this controller has it. Alternatively, maybe you want to improve your reactions when playing a combat title. Well, if you insert the fight pad module, this will give you a match-winning edge. Alongside this, you can pick from several d-pads to get the right build for you.

Whatever option you plump for, this controller will suit many genres. What’s more, it gives you an edge that makes everything more enjoyable to play! If you then consider the exceptional rear mappable buttons and the ease at which to customise the profiles, this controller is a winner. 

Thanks to the multi-position clutch triggers, you’ll get the trigger sensitivity just right. With 5 positions to choose from, you can select an ultra-responsive hair trigger or something more substantial. Either way, you can set up this device to play to your strengths.

Build quality.

The Pro BFG controller does many things right. However, unlike the Nacon Revolution X Pro, there is no ability to alter the weight. As such, it doesn’t feel as hefty as its competitors. Yet, you may love a lighter device. Consequently, this will not matter. Yet, when you consider every other aspect, this is an accessory that will not disappoint. The wonderfully textured grips and intelligent button placement make this a joy to use. Additionally, the ability to customise the trigger depth and the responsive inputs is impressive.

What’s more, the textured carry case stores every module, additional part, and USB cable. As such, you needn’t worry about losing any essential parts. Furthermore, it is easy to transport the device if you want to take it on holiday or to a friend’s house.

Is the Pro BFG controller worth it?

There are some fantastic PlayStation controllers available. However, the Pro BFG controller knocks it out of the park. Not only is it affordable, but it is jam-packed with impressive game-changing tech. Moreover, the ability to customise nearly every aspect makes it a truly versatile beast that’s worth every penny. The Argus 3 Ultra security camera from Reolink is a fantastic way to protect your house. Furthermore, its wireless approach ensures that you have a versatile piece of tech that doesn’t require a challenging set-up. Additionally, its straightforward approach is perfect for safety-conscious technophobes. Moreover, its video recording quality is impressive when you consider its wireless status.

Alongside this, its impressive 6000 mAh battery lasts around 10 to 12 days on one full charge. Alternatively, you can wire up the Reolink Solar Panel 2 to enhance your experience further (more on this later). Either way, thanks to the incredibly intuitive app, you can keep on top of your battery life. Furthermore, you can use the app to change an array of settings, observe any footage, and download any incidents. As such, it is extremely user-friendly and impressed me immediately.

Technical aspects.

A security camera is only as good as the footage it has recorded. We have all seen horrible screenshots or short videos of crimes being committed. Unfortunately, the perpetrators evade capture as the image is grainy, pixelated, and terrible to look at. Thankfully, though, the Argus 3 Ultra bucks this trend. Its incredible 4k quality at 3840 by 2160 is impressive to look at. What’s more, the 125-degree FOV captures a larger area without jeopardising video quality.

Additionally, a moderately impressive daytime 15 fps and 12 fps night colour vision and black and white infrared recording create a smooth video stream. As such, you can capture key moments of any incident without worrying about losing details or blurred faces. What’s more, the low light recording facility blew me away. Accordingly, no matter the time of day, the Argus 3 Ultra delivered crisp and accurate imagery.

Connectivity and storage.

Reolink has delivered a dual-band device that is straightforward to connect to. Thanks to its QR code system and the app as mentioned earlier, you’ll be connected in no time at all. Furthermore, you can use either the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi bandwidth. Consequently, you’ll reduce interference and improve the strength of your wireless connection. Alongside this, it ensures that the 2-way talk facility and other key elements perform at their best. Moreover, the camera is compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. As such, this enhances its usability further.

Storage is another key element to consider. 4K footage takes up masses of space, and you don’t want to worry about losing key recordings. Accordingly, this issue is resolved thanks to the impressive 128 Gb Micro SD compatible slot. As such, you’ll record hours of footage without having to wipe or exchange your storage facility.

The Reolink app is free to download and is an intuitive piece of software. Moreover, it is used to adjust every setting of the camera and highlights your frames per second, battery life, and live stream. Additionally, you can activate the 2-way talk function and turn on the bright lights to get the attention of would-be trespassers.

On top of this, you can adjust the sensitivity and mask out any privacy areas or deliberate blind spots. What’s more, you can select whether you want the camera to focus on vehicles, animals, or people. This was great, especially if you live in the countryside. No one wants warnings of foxes, deer, or badgers strolling across their lawn. As such, you can eliminate this issue at the touch of a button.

Argus 3 Ultra build quality.

The IP65 waterproof rating ensures that the Argus 3 Ultra survives the harshest of elements. Moreover, its impressive battery capacity ensures that this device keeps working for extended periods. However, if you want to keep this device running without worrying about charging it, I recommend investing in the Reolink Solar Panel 2. This 6W charging device is easy to set up and keeps the camera rolling indefinitely. As long as you have a decent soaking of sun, the solar panel will trickle charge the camera without damaging the battery life. Consequently, it is one less issue you need to worry about.

The camera is robust, compact, and great to look at. Thanks to its sturdy wall mount, this device will stay on your wall or fascia board without concern. Furthermore, it was a cinch to unscrew the camera or plug in the USB cable. Accordingly, if you need to charge it or change the storage card, it isn’t a problem.

Video quality.

I was impressed with the clarity and smooth nature of the video footage. Whether I observed it on my phone or watched it on a larger screen, the level of detail was excellent. Additionally, the ability to change the settings to improve the final product was a game-changer. What’s more, you can adjust the sensitivity of the PIR sensor to meet your needs. As such, you may wish to focus on a smaller area such as a driveway or a shed. Alternatively, you can focus on a vast space, so you never miss a beat. Whatever your preference, the PIR operated efficiently from around 8 metres. Consequently, you’ll need to place the camera in the right area to optimise your security needs.

Is the Argus 3 Ultra worth it?

The Argus 3 Ultra delivers impressive video and audio quality for a wireless device. However, the wired alternatives in this range perform slightly better. Yet, they have the issue of unsightly cables and an arduous installation process. Thankfully, this wireless alternative can be placed anywhere you like, and its waterproof rating ensures that it can withstand brutal weather fronts. Alongside this, the excellent app is intuitive and simple to set up. Accordingly, this is a great security camera and I recommend that you buy it here!

Review: Blood West

Blood West is a title that I got to test at Develop: Brighton. However, its limited gameplay didn’t leave too much to the imagination. Well, roll on several months and the developers have added plenty of content to a cruel but enjoyable experience. Consequently, there are now 3 chapters to “enjoy” and many despicable creatures to annihilate en route. As such, there is enough to turn your stomach and entertain you for hours.

This first-person shooter was developed and published by Hyperstrange. What’s more, it focuses heavily on slow stealth mechanics. Accordingly, if you love a run-and-gun experience, this will not be for you. However, if you can slow things down and think methodically, then you’ll adore every ball-breaking moment.

The hero is hiding in the shadow. However, an ominous figure approaches.
I think you best start running.

Blood West tells a tale of despair.

Being trapped in a personal prison is a horrific endeavour. However, this is exactly what awaits the Undead Gunslinger! This gruff hero is doomed to walk the barren lands unless he can purge his curse and free his soul. Yet, this isn’t easy as everything is out to kill him and death is just around the corner. Consequently, you must use your mind and savvy to overcome obstacles, avoid monsters, and survive to fight another day.

Alongside this, 3 enormous bosses must be destroyed if you wish to be successful. To say these abominations are tough and cruel is an understatement. Furthermore, defeating them requires a lot of luck and plenty of tactical nuance. Subsequently, you must be prepared to fail and learn from your mistakes. Additionally, you must be patient and improve the hero’s talents if you want to make your life easier.

Freedom to explore.

Where Blood West excels is its vast open world and the freedom to explore. Moreover, there are masses of collectables and plenty of safe places to trade and improve your character. However, finding valuable items and completing quests is no mean feat. Unfortunately, there are swathes of undead monstrosities that stand between you and success. Subsequently, you must stay hidden and kill them without raising their suspicion.

This stealthy approach requires a reset of modern gaming practices. Instead of running in all guns blazing, you must calculate every risk. However, if you wish to be a hero, you can expect to die and increase your chances of becoming cursed. When this happens, you’ll hinder your progress and undertake arduous tasks to remove each curse. Sadly, this is almost unavoidable, and only the best players will tackle this without weakening the protagonist.

Blood West is a gory-pixelated dream.

Though the blocky pixelated finish may put some gamers off, I adored the old-school approach and the crisp UI. Furthermore, the stealth bar was easy to follow even if it was a little basic. Accordingly, it lacks complexity as players must simply focus on a line of visibility and the sound of their footsteps. Yet, this understated mechanic doesn’t undermine the action, even if it is undeniably retro in its design.

Each chapter utilises a unique approach with various monsters to destroy, What’s more, the open world is large, grim, and oppressive. Consequently, though the finish is dated, this doesn’t detract from a wonderfully atmospheric title.

The grim audio complemented this sinister feeling. The aggressive and often OTT soundbites and sound effects enhance the drama. Moreover, the brilliantly gruff acting is wonderfully ridiculous whilst adding to the insane spectacle.

As such, you must consider this whenever you tackle any enemies.

Thanks to the exploration elements, Blood West offers plenty of depth and replay value. Furthermore, the talent tree enables you to tailor your hero to your play style. Additionally, the cruel bosses test your ability and skills as they repeatedly slaughter you. Consequently, you’ll “enjoy” 20 or more hours in this hellish and sinister world.

I love it when a developer throws a curveball. Blood West does just that with its slow and unforgiving gameplay. Furthermore, its retro pixelated style and obnoxious audio tweak those nostalgia-fuelled heartstrings. My only complaint is the sheer brutality of the learning curve. Yet, if you can forgive this element, you’ll enjoy one hell of an indie title. Accordingly, I recommend that you buy it here! Can you escape the barren lands and purge your curse? Complete the quests, kill the bosses, and survive for as long as possible.

House Flipper 2 crashes onto the market at a crazy time of year. Consequently, this relaxing endeavour is the perfect tool to unwind after a hectic day. Moreover, it has strong foundations thanks to its much-loved predecessor. However, sadly, it doesn’t have as much content as the original. Yet, I’m sure that will change as time goes on.

This life-sim title was developed and published by Frozen District. Additionally, it has a pleasant, albeit familiar storyline that keeps you on track. As such, though there is the addition of a sandbox mode, it plays out as a mainly linear experience.

Starting as a rookie handyman can be unforgiving and tough. However, practically every resident in House Flipper 2 is begging for your help! Whether they need someone to clean their mess, rewire their house, knock down some walls, or wallpaper, there is always something to do. Alternatively, maybe you wish to do up a rundown house and make a humongous profit. Either way, you’ll be kept busy from beginning to end.

Alongside this, the more work you do, the better your skills become. Whether you collect more rubbish, paint larger areas, or demolish walls at lightning pace, it makes a vast difference. Subsequently, tackling the minor early-game tasks improves the endgame experience exponentially.

House Flipper 2 is mostly a relaxing endeavour. However, the developers have incorporated a mini-game assembly option that tests your accuracy and skills. This mode isn’t entirely necessary, but it is fun and reduces costs on certain items. Accordingly, if you want the highest profit margin, then you need to tackle every assembly project.

The audio, though comfortable, rarely blew me away. The laid-back soundtrack was understated and pleasant to listen to. Furthermore, it worked with each of the realistic sound effects. Therefore, I was never overwhelmed, even when I was demolishing walls with my sledgehammer.

I haven’t played House Flipper for a long time. However, this mattered not as the controls were easy to understand. House Flipper 2 utilises a range of radial and submenus to select tools and furniture to buy. Moreover, your list of tasks is easy to follow. However, the ability to dump purchased furniture into a corner annoyed me. Subsequently, I wish the developers had been stricter with this aspect of the game.

Though it doesn’t have the large catalogue of furniture of its predecessor, I wasn’t too worried. Within time, this will evolve to outshine House Flipper. Furthermore, the detail of every asset and the mind-blowing potential make this an extremely exciting proposition. In its current build, it is great. Yet, with time, this will be an addictive and insanely huge simulation title.

House Flipper 2 is a great sequel. 

Developing a great sequel is no mean feat. However, House Flipper 2 is a success. Despite the smaller catalogue, I enjoyed everything on offer. Additionally, the inclusion of a sandbox mode was a fine choice. As such, I love it and I recommend that you buy it here! Being a handyman is never easy. Kona II: Brume does a fantastic job of balancing each of its core mechanics. As such, though the supernatural element is at the fore, it isn’t clichéd or overbearing. Additionally, the puzzles are not too complex, and I never felt out of my comfort zone. Where this excels is the exploration mechanics. Diving into a chilling blizzard as you move from house to house is uncomfortably worrying. As you watch your health and heat deplete, you must light a fire or use first aid kits to stay alive. This sense of urgency adds drama and despair to an already bleak experience.

The lore of Kona II: Brume is wonderfully explored thanks to documents that highlight backstories and the history of this oppressive location. Moreover, there is an array of strong characters to interact with. Each of these moments adds depth to an already interesting and captivating plot. However, what wasn’t so good was the combat elements. Sadly, this felt like an unnecessary afterthought that should have been better executed. I’m not saying they are woeful. However, they don’t match the polish and intensity of the other core mechanics.

I adore this approach as the team has created a sense of openness, although the game focuses on a mainly linear structure. Alongside this, the attention to detail was impressive. Each structure looks fantastic and the minor pieces of furniture and the frozen bodies are accurate and unnerving. 

The audio is equally good. The narration is spectacular, whereas the sound of howling wind and crunching snow will chill you to the bone. Furthermore, I loved the crackle of every fire and the overbearing sound of any gunfire. As such, this is a dramatic title that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Kona II: Brume is relatively slow-paced. As such, the controls didn’t need to be responsive. However, the well-considered button layout and intuitive UI help to keep things moving. Furthermore, it is easy to select usable objects or to solve any puzzle that you encounter.

I loved playing this title but the short playtime was disappointing. At around 10 hours of game time, this isn’t the longest game I’ve played. However, I loved how the story didn’t outstay its welcome, thanks to the introduction of interesting characters. Moreover, the drip-fed lore holds your attention throughout. As such, though replay value and longevity are limited, it is still great value for money.

Kona II: Brume is a great sequel.

This sequel outdoes its predecessor in most departments. As such, I was impressed by every aspect I saw. Additionally, the incredible storytelling and the haunting environment were impressive. What’s more, you can enjoy this if you somehow missed the first game. Yet, that is an inexpensive title that should be tackled if you have the time. Yet, this iteration revolves around the expansion of your farm, and exploring a vast open world. Accordingly, it takes the franchise to a new level that impressed me.

Alongside this, there are 5 different towns to discover and plenty of unique crops to find. What’s more, there is an array of farm animals to care for and plenty of animals to befriend and ride. The latter idea was a great choice as exploring the monstrous map is a little arduous and time-consuming. Subsequently, it was great fun to ride a horse, zebra, or unicorn. Furthermore, the idea of riding a unicorn appeased my youngsters.

The quests and farming elements form the backbone of Harvest Moon: The Winds of Anthos. However, getting every task done is no mean feat. The hero has a limited energy supply and every activity drains it. Consequently, you must consume food, rest, and pick your activities wisely.

Whether you are chopping trees, mining for ore, running across fields, or helping out each villager, you must watch your stamina bar. Thankfully, the developers have incorporated transport nodes that enable you to fast travel across the map. These simple but essential tools are a must-use facility, especially in the latter game.

Yet, this wasn’t perfect, and I encountered a few glitches and screen tears during my adventure. Thankfully, though, they weren’t game-breaking and could easily be ignored.

The audio was wholesome and pleasant to listen to. What’s more, the sound effects were realistic and not too overpowering. As such, you can listen to this without worrying about it being uncomfortable. Additionally, in typical Harvest Moon style, this is perfectly safe for youngsters. Therefore, parents are assured that there is no cussing and that their children can be left to their own devices.

Though the core fundamentals are easy to understand, getting through to the end of each run is no mean feat. As you explore space, you must deal with each encounter on the grid-like map. These events include hiring new staff, finding treasure, attacking pirates, rescuing merchants, fighting aliens, and much more. Moreover, each realm has a final boss battle that will test your ship, skills, and resolve. As such, failure is all but assured if you are not prepared.

Yet, you can overcome these issues if you buy new equipment or upgrade it with perks and stat boosts. What’s more, your characters level up and this improves their combat ability, repair status, and movement speed. On top of this, there is an array of weapons to unlock and buy that will destroy the toughest of opponents. Subsequently, you must find the right combination that works for your vessel and play style.

The fundamentals are straightforward. However, tackling fires, mines, broken ship panels, destroyed weapons and an array of special events isn’t easy. As such, This Means Warp is gloriously maddening. Every element piles pressure onto an already challenging experience. As such, when you and your crew fail, your ship is bound to explode.

When this happens, your progress and everything you’ve worked towards is lost…damn rogue-like elements. However, this makes it spectacularly rewarding and unbelievably moreish.

Using an isometric viewpoint, players get a great look at the playing area. Depending on which ship you select, you will have to avoid an array of obstacles and automatic doors. Additionally, each vessel has unique mechanics that must be studied and understood. Alongside this, there is an array of enemies that look fantastic and the cinematic is a treat. What’s more, I experienced no bugs or issues.

The audio is just as good. The upbeat sci-fi soundtrack was fun to listen to. Moreover, the loud and often obnoxious sound effects keep you on your toes. Whether it is the crash of explosives or the whoosh of a laser beam, it never gets old.

The action is hectic and hard to manage. However, the controls are responsive, and the layout is intuitive. As such, once you understand what is happening, you can work on your tactics to defeat every alien.

Alongside this, there are unique characters to add to your roster and plenty of ways to successfully play the game. Therefore, this will keep you playing for hours.

I had high hopes for This Means Warp, and I wasn’t let down. Every aspect of the gameplay is rewarding, challenging, and moreish. Moreover, playing this with friends online or locally is great fun.
