Activision announces The Walking Dead video game to be voiced by Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker

Activision has announced that Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker are bringing their talents to The Walking Dead video game.

Walking-Dead-Video-Game_thumb1

As things are ramping up on the third season of AMC’s Emmy Award-winning drama “The Walking Dead”, Activision is proud to announce that series stars Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker will reprise their respective roles as fan-favourites Daryl and Merle Dixon in Activision’s upcoming The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. Their addition is central to developer Terminal Reality’s commitment to delivering an engrossing, original experience that stays authentic to the characters, tone and storyline of the series Entertainment Weekly called the “greatest thriller ever produced for television.”

TWD_Michael_Rooker.jpg.jpg.jpg TWD_Norman_Reedus.jpg.jpg.jpg

In the game, players assume the role of the mysterious, crossbow-wielding survivor Daryl Dixon. This first-person survival title takes place within the universe of “The Walking Dead” and before the events of the AMC show, following Daryl and his brother Merle on a gruesome journey to reach the supposed safety of Atlanta as the world around them ends. Reedus and Rooker will bring life to their characters’ desperate, unforgiving struggle against limited resources, the nightmarish walkers and, perhaps, their fellow survivors…

The Walking Dead video game is scheduled for release in 2013 for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation3 computer entertainment system, and Windows PC, and is currently rated “RP” (Rating Pending) by the ESRB.  For more information, visit www.TheWalkingDeadBegins.com

I am a big fan of both the comic and the TV show, and I really like what TellTale Games have done with their game so I am excited to see what Activision will bring.

YouTube App for the PS Vita Updated to Version 2

2

Sony released an update for the PS Vita YouTube app today.  Read on for details.

Vita Home Screen

Sony updated the YouTube app for the PS Vita today, adding support for subscriptions and cleaning up the appearance.  Here is the change log:

  • Subscriptions and channels: Now you can view and manage your subscriptions (including your subscription to the PlayStation YouTube channel), browse all videos on a specific channel and check out detailed information in the “About this channel” menu option.
  • Improved controls: We’ve added new functions on controls including Next/Previous buttons, a loop video option and the ability to browse videos while another is playing, making it easy to select preferred videos without interrupting playback.
  • Playlist settings: You can now create playlists and add videos to your playlists, including your Favorites or Watch Later lists.
  • Closed captions: Captions help deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers enjoy YouTube videos, and they’re also useful if you forgot your headphones and want to watch videos in a loud (or quiet) setting while on-the-go. Now you can display closed captions when playing videos. Look for the captions icon on the video thumbnail. You can even change the language of captions in the options menu.
  • Continuous playback: In the settings menu, you can now enable continuous playback, so your next video selection will start to play automatically.
  • PS Vita buttons: You now have the option to use the PS Vita buttons to control playback and menus, which can be enabled in the Settings > System menu.
  • Share: Show that you’re tuned in—Tweet, Email or group message your friends the name and URL to the latest video. You can also invite people to check out any channel on YouTube — like the the PlayStation YouTube channel — via group message, so they don’t miss a beat.
  • Improved search: You can now use search filters — sorting by upload date or duration, for example — making it easier than ever to find your favorite videos.

This is a nice update; I missed the subscriptions and channels features on the initial YouTube app.  If you have a PS Vita, go ahead and grab this update!

Advanced Admin Console for Windows Server 2012 Essentials now available

Andreas Miceli has released the popular WHS 2011 add-in Advanced Admin Console for Windows Server 2012 Essentials.

aac_2011_wse2012_purchase

This is what Andreas posted:

As announced two weeks ago a new release of the Advanced Admin Console 2011 AddIn is now available. This new release is fully compatible with Windows Server 2012 Essentials and also still supports earlier Windows Server Solutions operating systems (Windows Home Server 2011, Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials and Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials).

The following changes have been made since the first final release (version 1.0.0):

  • CHANGED: Offline activation made easier.
  • CHANGED: Added “upgrade from earlier version” to the “Purchase License” functionality.
  • ADDED: Compatibility with Windows Server 2012 Essentials
  • ADDED: Access to Storage Spaces (Windows Server 2012 Essentials only).

The Advanced Admin Console 2011 AddIn has always been free for home users and business users have always been required to purchase a license after the initial trial period of 30 days had ended. Since Windows Server 2012 Essentials is targeted at business users by Microsoft the Advanced Admin Console 2011 AddIn now always requires a license on this platform when the trial period is over.

Users are eligible to purchase an upgrade license at a reduced price if they’ve purchased an Advanced Admin Console 2011 license for an earlier operating system and have either upgraded their server’s operating system or replaced the server they initially purchased the license for.

Download the Advanced Admin Console 2011 AddIn (version 1.5.0) from the Download page.

Fable: The Journey – An interview with Jennifer Clixby and Ben Brookes from Lionhead Studios

At a recent event I got to sit down with Jennifer Clixby and Ben Brookes from Lionhead Studios to talk about Fable: The Journey.

fable_jouney_emea_pegi_fob_jpg_jpgco[1]

Fable: The Journey immerses players in the tale of a young dweller named Gabriel and follows him on a journey to change his fate and become the hero that battles the corruption that plagues Albion. As the first Fable title built from the ground up on Kinect for Xbox 360, Fable: The Journey features new territories of an expanded Albion alongside bigger and badder enemies. The game also marks the return of Theresa in her fourth Fable game and greatest role as the spark that fuels Gabriel’s magical evolution.

Using the Cover

Fitting the iPad Mini into the Classic Cover was simple.

CDW Review of the Belkin Classic Cover for the iPad Min - 8 CDW Review of the Belkin Classic Cover for the iPad Min - 9

Final Thoughts

The cover is very thin – Belkin actually describe it as Ultra-thin and lightweight – and they are not wrong. It really is lightweight and it doesn’t add much bulk to the iPad Mini.

There is a small hole on the back for the rear camera and all the buttons and ports are easily accessible.

Fitting and removing the Mini to case was easily too.

I carried it around in my bag with other items that could mark or damage a leather case and there wasn’t a mark on this one at the end of the day.

My only criticism of the Classic Cover is that the four corner mounts that hold the iPad Mini in place actually touch the screen and are not entirely straight (take a look at the picture at the top of the review to see just what I mean). It doesn’t effect the use of the Mini, but it just takes something away from the overall look of the case.

The Classic Cover retails for £17.99, so a bargain to keep your iPad Mini safe.
