Review: Hogwarts Legacy

Is it possible to make a good combat and exciting gameplay from a game that its only weapon is a wand with various spells?

Can you give Harry Potter fans who have experienced wonderful stories in movies and read in books a story that will thrill them?

Is it possible to attract even those who have not seen Harry Potter movies and books and are just gamers to the game and provide them with an attractive world?

Now we are going to get the answers to these questions one by one.

STORY

The story of the game takes place in the 1800s and begins with the arrival of a fifth-year student at Hogwarts, and on the way to Hogwarts, things happen to him/her and his/her traveling companion, Professor Fig, which makes them realize an exceptional power in the main character of the game.

The main story of the game has flaws that cannot be ignored, but at some points the story reaches a surprising peak and immerses you in the story for a few minutes.

The last stage of the game is one of the most magnificent stages that I have seen so far in the games that I have played, so that my hair stood on end and tears came to my eyes, my heart beat increased and I continued to play in this state for several minutes.

The story of the game is by no means perfect, but it still has a good and exciting story, but it may not be as good as the Harry Potter stories, but it can still be an interesting story for Harry Potter fans.

The characters that are mentioned during the main story or Side quests and direct and indirect references to some stories that are exciting and familiar for Harry Potter fans.

Most side quests also have interesting stories that are worth your time.

CHARACTER DESIGN

There are many characters that you see during the game, but they are all so unique and well designed and it is very difficult to forget them.

The emotions of the characters you see are amazing and the amount of detail in the face and the facial detail when it comes to emotions will surprise you.

It is clear that small laughs and round eyes are caused by the excitement and all the characters you see have all these details, and these are not only limited to a few special characters.

GAMEPLAY

The combat is unexpectedly great and attractive.

Spells with the power to set enemies on fire and prevent the enemy from attacking.

Explosive spells that damage multiple enemies at the same time. Long-range and close-range attacks that throw enemies at each other.

Lifting and levitating enemies, grabbing and pulling enemies toward yourself, rotating enemies in the air, turning them into objects, all of these are well implemented in the game.

But what makes the games combat the most enjoyable is the combination of these spells to lift the enemy from the ground and then drag it toward yourself and then throw it towards the other enemies or turning it into an object and throwing it. you can combine any spell you wish and defeat your enemy in the way you like.

One of the reasons that made the combat lovely for me was throwing various objects in the environment toward enemies, which can create very interesting combinations with your powers.

The variety of spells is great and it gives you different options to create your own favorite arrangement to use the spells you like, although you may be wondering if having only 4 spells at once is not enough? And isn’t it annoying that you have to go into the spells menu and move them around to change your usable spells you made?

This problem can also be solved and avalanche software has thought about this problem.

By buying new talents and spending your talent points, you can quickly change the arrangement of spells by pressing the d-pads of your controller.

But it’s not just spells that are involved in your battles, but there are also some types of potions and plants that you can use in battles, such as mandrake, which produces an ear-splitting sound and confuses the enemies for a while.

The parry and dodge system of the game is also very interesting and a bit challenging.

Defending in limited time and dodging attacks that cannot be defended against makes the fights more challenging and lovely.

OUTFITS

The outfits you find during the game are all unique, beautiful, glorious and impressive.

I spent a lot of time trying on different outfits during the game and it was always difficult to choose between them.

Of course, the game’s inventory is sometimes annoying, but these problems can be solved by doing the Merlin Trials, but I don’t think it is necessary to keep all those clothes, because in terms of the appearance of your outfits, you have an infinite inventory, which by taking the outfit even after selling them, you can put the appearance of that sold outfit on your current outfit.

VISUALS

The game is graphically stunning and spectacular and is well optimized for 9th generation consoles.

I played it on the PS5 on fidelity mode with raytracing and uncapped frame rate, and even though my monitor did not have VRR, I confronted very little stuttering.

Most of the fps drops and stutters I saw happened only a few seconds after fast travel and in my experience did not cause any problem.

MAP DESIGN

Hogwarts Castle is incredibly detailed, with secret doors, classrooms, library, restricted section of the library, living portraits that are always doing their own unique thing, instruments that are played without musicians, and so much more that you have to experience them yourself.

During the day, the environment of the castle is very alive and always full of students and professors, and during the night it is quiet and empty.

The game map is very large and all the game environments like the castle have the same feeling of being alive.

Flying on the broom, hippogriff and thestral is magically amazing so that you just want to fly and see the beautiful world of the game from another perspective.

When you enter Hogsmead for the first time, the game constantly prompts you to talk to the interactive characters and learn more about them.

SOUNDTRACKS

The soundtracks of the game is always caressing your ears, and in different parts of the game, the music matches well with the atmosphere of the game and makes the atmosphere of the game more enjoyable for you.

BEASTS

The beasts in the game are very spectacular. During the game, I spent many hours collecting beasts, feeding them, and taking care of them, and I spent a lot of time just watching them.

Some of them are cute and funny, and some of them are glorious, huge and beautiful.

CONCLUSION

Hogwarts Legacy has a great character design and could have had a great story too but the story is not so strong. the gameplay feels great and exploration is so entertaining. visually its great and Hogwarts castle is so detailed.

Review: HONOR Magic 6 Pro

The HONOR Magic 6 Pro is an advanced unit that will impress innovative tech lovers. However, this innovation comes with some caveats. Unfortunately, when you push the envelope, you expect some issues. Accordingly, I wasn’t surprised that there were some glitches within HONOR’s matrix. Yet, I forgave these shortcomings as the exceptional AI, market-leading battery, and phenomenal camera are a real head-turner.

Alongside this, the phone feels spectacular. The high-end casing is pleasant to hold, and the screen is super responsive. When you combine the next-gen AI technology with the buttery smooth and responsive screen, you get a performance that is to die for. Moreover, if you love to stream, game, or create content, then this device stands up against its peers. Consequently, though it is pricey when compared to other Android phones, I think you get a lot of bang for your buck.

What’s in the box of the HONOR Magic 6 Pro?

  • The sleek packaging has a professional edge. Furthermore, it can be recycled if you so wish.
  • The HONOR Magic 6 Pro is available in 2 colours. I was sent the Epi Green, but a discreet black option can be picked. The device has an impressive front-facing camera and a large rear cluster of lenses. Additionally, the tactile case is easy to hold, reducing the risk of accidents. The body is streamlined and there are no unnecessary buttons or switches.
  • A USB-C to USB-C cable is provided for charging. (No charger is provided).
  • Open the sim holder with the tool.

Technical aspects.

The HONOR Magic 6 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with 12 GB of RAM. This combination delivers a powerful, smooth performance that puts other devices to shame. Moreover, no matter what game or program you throw at it, it never stumbles or overheats. Subsequently, if you love to snap photos, create movies, or game on the move, this phone has you covered.

Processing power is all well and good, but if your battery is poor, you’ll be out of juice in no time. Thankfully, the industry-leading silicon-carbon 5600 mAh capacity battery is impressive. If you are a moderate user, you can expect to get around a day and a half usage before charging. However, if you love to push your phone to its limit, you’ll probably enjoy around 18 to 22 hours of heavy usage before reaching for a charging cable.

When you combine the 2 elements, you get an almighty powerful phone that is impressive on many levels. Yet, these 2 key components weren’t the thing that blew me away the most. No, that accolade is reserved for the incredible AI technology and the awe-inspiring camera. Finally, I cannot forget the impressive OS.

The HONOR Magic 6 Pro has an awesome camera.

Purists hate mobile camera phones. Yet, there is no escaping the benefits of this modern movement. I adore my SLR, but the HONOR Magic 6 Pro gave it a real run for its money. The 50 MP main lens has a variable aperture (f1.4 – f2.0), a 180-MP telescopic lens with a 2.5x optical zoom or 100x digital zoom, and a 50 MP ultra-wide lens. Alongside this, there is a 50 MP front-facing camera and a 3D depth camera.

I loved each of these options, except for the ultra-wide lens. Unfortunately, the phone tries to compensate and alter images beyond what is necessary. The result is a mixed bag of oversaturated colours or photos that are stretched beyond what is expected or acceptable. The other lenses are incredible by comparison. The resolution and depth are spectacular. Additionally, the low-light performance was amazing, and I loved the quality of the front-facing option.

The video recording will bring a smile to your face. Each of the lenses is capable of recording at 4K, but it is worth noting that 60 FPS is the maximum option for the rear camera and 30 FPS for the front. If this isn’t enough, there is a movie mode if you fancy trying something different.

AI.

I should embrace AI, but I admit I’m still on the fence. The HONOR Magic 6 Pro has proved that AI technology is going to be a massive part of the mobile phone industry. When incorporated correctly, you enjoy a user-friendly experience that enhances many of our daily apps. For example, Magic Text allows you to extract text to add to another app or make a phone call. Now, I know there is a form of copy and paste, but this takes it to the next level.

Furthermore, the Magic Portal pushes this idea to the next level. You can flit between screenshots, images, text, and more as you grab the bits that capture your eye. These items can then be placed into another app to help autofill information. Though this may seem a little clunky at the moment, I can see this smooth process becoming commonplace in the not-so-distant future.

HONOR promises to incorporate more AI features within its interface in the future. Apparently, you will be able to activate apps and respond to notifications with a certain look. Alternatively, you can use images and text to create videos. I’m not sure how effective these features will be, but they sound great, and I can’t wait to see how well they work.

Usability.

The HONOR Magic 6 Pro uses HONOR’s MagicOS 8, which is based on Android 14. As you’d expect, there are plenty of unnecessary software elements that can be ignored. This didn’t concern me as I uninstalled anything irrelevant. What concerned me more was the occasional software crash and other minor issues. I expected a phone with advanced ideas to have some teething problems, so I swept these concerns under the carpet. Accordingly, if you can put up with a few glitches and the odd reload, then you will adore the rapid interface and the wonderfully vibrant screen.

Build quality.

A phone with a hefty price tag has to be extremely well-built. This device didn’t disappoint at all! The anti-drop display is created using HONOR’s NanoCrystal shield. Though it isn’t bulletproof, it will protect your device in the event of some scenarios. This was reassuring, as I’m forever fearful of breaking a touchscreen phone. Furthermore, I hate the idea of having to buy a case to keep things safe.

The risk of dropping this phone is reduced thanks to the impressive tactile grip case. The slightly rigged body feels great to hold, and the large camera cluster doesn’t cause an imbalance with the rest of the device. Finally, there is no 3.5mm audio port. This may disappoint you, but I prefer the streamlined finish. Therefore, if you love to listen to music or a podcast, you will have to use a wireless option.

Is the HONOR Magic 6 Pro worth it?

The HONOR Magic 6 Pro is a phenomenal device that has a few teething issues. The minor software faults can be easily ironed out. What’s more, the inclusion of extra AI features makes this stand out from its peers. I understand that it has a hefty price point, but if you want a market-leading option, then you have to invest. Your well-spent money will buy you an incredible camera, top-notch AI, and a battery that performs exceptionally well. It is for these reasons that I have to recommend that you buy it here!

Review: Hidden Through Time 2

Hidden Through Time 2: Myths and Magic is a fantastic title if you have kids who love hidden object games. However, if you don’t have youngsters in tow, you will still enjoy the colourful worlds and the mind-boggling problems you face. Alongside this, I loved the theme of myth and magic. The developers have done a cracking job of incorporating plenty of creative licence into every aspect.

This 2D hidden object title was developed and published by Rogueside. Furthermore, it is a single-player experience set across 4 unique gameplay worlds. The blend of themes and the strange hidden items will make you smile and keep you on your toes. However, there are helpful hints to ensure that your children are never out of their depth. This user-friendly approach was perfect as my kids enjoyed working through each puzzle they selected.

Hidden Through Time 2 allows the pictures to tell the story.

Though each world has a special backstory, these don’t sit at the fore. Instead, the fun cutscene sets the mood for each puzzle you encounter. Alongside this, the characters match each theme and I loved the cheeky nature of every stage. Whether it was unruly animals, servants, magical beings, or treasure, you have to have your eyes peeled to find them all.

The action demands that you explore a small area loaded with different items. Additionally, you can shift each stage from night to day or winter to summer. Either way, there are special things to find in each scenario and there is a special hidden object that must be located. As you search through one mode, you will not be able to find every object. Instead, you must shift the perspective to find every element. This was a fascinating way to expand the action without adding too many levels. Furthermore, I loved how each world changed depending on the season or the time of day.

Become a creative genius.

Searching for every item was great fun. Yet, I adored the Architect 2.0 mode. If you are a creative genius, and you wish to show your creations off to the world, now is your chance. Hidden Through Time 2 allows you to use every in-game asset to create your own hidden object puzzle. If this isn’t enough, you can share this with your friends and strangers online to see if they can solve your puzzle.

Alongside this, you may test your mettle against other people’s creations. I tackled some weird and wonderful maps and each made me smile. Yes, there were some rubbish ones, but I applauded the effort. Whenever I stumbled across a spectacular effort, I was blown away by the creative ideas and the attention to detail. As such, this creative mode ensures that you will always have a new world to explore and never-ending possibilities.

Hidden Through Time 2 looks amazing.

Hidden Through Time 2 had the potential to be overwhelming and difficult to look at. Thankfully, this wasn’t the case as I loved the clean character models and vibrant stage design. What’s more, the difference between night and day and the changes in the seasons were fantastic.

The audio is fun and energetic, but subtle. As you spend most of your time focusing on tiny items, you don’t hear the upbeat soundtrack. This was a shame as the music matched each theme. I wouldn’t say that the subtlety was a waste, but it would have been better if the music was more in your face and obvious.

Excellent controls.

The controls make this a particularly easy game to play. Thanks to the excellent button layout and the responsive inputs, anyone can play this. Moreover, the superb UI helps you find hints and highlight every missing object. The camera control is smooth and navigating each level was a cinch. Rarely do my children just get on and play a game. However, Hidden Through Time 2 has succeeded where many others have failed.

If you simply look at the core gameplay mode, then this has limited replay value and longevity. Yet, if you love to get creative and try out other people’s ideas, then this will keep you coming back for more. On top of this, there are many secrets to discover; each map will test your observation skills and patience.

Hidden Through Time 2 is a great game.

I’m not a massive fan of hidden object games. They are normally clunky and “adult” affairs. Subsequently, I tire of them quickly and generally stop playing before I should. Luckily, Hidden Through Time 2 bucks that trend. The fun themes and colourful worlds make it a joy to play. In addition, my kids can play it easily, which is always a winner. Accordingly, it is great and I recommend buying it here! Can you find every item that is hidden in plain sight? Explore each level, search every nook and cranny, and find the hidden items.

The Digital Casino Revolution: How Casinos and Tech Are Reshaping Gambling in 2024

0

The hi-tech age has affected most branches of our lives, and casinos are no exception. They have changed the way individuals gamble by transposing the feelings of casino gaming and placing gambling at the consumer’s fingertips.

As it is seen, online casinos became one of the major reasons for the increase of possibilities of entertainment in gambling. Therefore, instead of being bound to geographical restrictions of land-based casinos or a certain time of the day, players can now enjoy their favorite games anytime. This aspect has been a strong selling factor in the expansion of the online betting market, thus seeing more companies such as Betway establish themselves.

Another change that can be mentioned among the major trends in online casinos is the incorporation of live streaming. This innovation has made it possible to integrate online casinos with physical ones so that players can be awarded a real-world casino experience. Live dealer games let a user engage in a game with real dealers in real time which adds a social aspect to online gambling that wasn’t present before.

The second reason that has mainly contributed to the popularity of online casinos is the variety of games. Gamblers will find that it ranges from traditional table games such as blackjack, roulette, and so on to video slots. Some of the reliable online casinos have promised an enormous list of online slots that players of all classes and categories can explore. Numerous games are characterized by bright graphics, interesting music, and extra bonuses that create the atmosphere of the game and attract more people.

Adoption of new technology has remained an area of focus, especially in what concerns the possibilities for gambling online. ’Advanced’ technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) are gradually finding their way into the industry, and production would indeed be even more engaging. Even though these technologies have not become popular among numerous casinos they indicate that in the future the difference between a physical and an online casino will be nearly unnoticeable.

These and many more have also contributed to the establishment of mobile casino apps that accompany the convenience and variety of viewing online platforms. These applications make and allow players to play their desired games from any place making it even more convenient. For instance, the mobile aspect of betting on the Betway platform entitles the users to play various games such as online slots on their phones or tablets.

Thus, while the online casino market continues to develop, the issues of responsible gambling remain essential. Betway, which is one of the most reliable and trusted online gambling sites, to name just a few prevention measures: self-exclusion, setting limitations on the deposits, and education for those who have problems with gambling. This follows a commitment to the welfare of the players which is imperative in upholding the integrity of the sports industry as well as longevity of the business.

The impact of online casinos extends beyond just the gaming experience. These platforms have also revolutionized payment methods in the gambling industry. Digital wallets, cryptocurrencies, and other alternative payment options have made transactions faster, more secure, and more convenient for players worldwide.

In conclusion, the rise of online casinos has fundamentally changed the landscape of gambling entertainment. By offering convenience, variety, and innovative features, platforms have opened up new possibilities for players around the world. As technology continues to advance and regulations evolve, the online casino industry is poised for further growth and transformation, promising exciting developments for both operators and players alike.

Review: Zenless Zone Zero

0

Hoyoverse has been on a roll for the past few years. Releasing Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, they have become the kings of the gatcha game. Zenless Zone Zero returns Hoyoverse to their roots of action combat seen in their first game, Honkai Impact 3rd. ZZZ sets itself apart from its other games with its unique setting while maintaining its signature style of great combat and characters.

Future Retro

Zenless Zone Zero takes place in a post-apocalyptic future. Enemies called Ethereals have destroyed most of humanity, forcing people to form cities to survive. You take on the roles of Proxies or support characters that help people explore areas called Hollows where Ethereals come from. You can choose between the male proxy Wise and the female proxy Belle, but both play an integral part in the story. While the world of ZZZ is a post-apocalyptic future, the blend of futuristic technology with retro technology melds together seamlessly. There is an area to place a VR arcade while supporting old-school arcades. The proxies base of operations is a video store with a throwback to the days of Blockbuster. It is a dreary future that is somehow fun to exist in.

As proxies, you encounter different factions with various goals in exploring the hollows. You assist the Cunning Hares in retrieving a briefcase containing a powerful item, which later becomes your AI assistant, Fairy. There is Belabog Corp, which needs assistance retrieving their work robots from the hollows. Many different factions and characters intertwine with the proxies, creating fun interactions with the various factions, with the signature charm expected from Hoyoverse’s characters.

Fight!

Exploring the hollows takes place in two parts. The first part is an exploration phase, which puts the players on a grid made of TVs. It’s up to the proxy to explore every bit of the grid to collect data, which results in a better score and better rewards. The main objective is usually to find something or someone. Proxies can also encounter puzzles, which reminded me of boulder puzzles in Pokemon games. There are story missions, puzzles, and combat-centered hollows for players to explore and get rewards.

When the proxies encounter enemies, you will enter 3D arenas to fight them. You bring teams of three with a bangaboo, which acts as a supporting character. Your characters have a normal attack, charge attack, skill, and ultimate ability. You also have an assist button, which lets you swap between your party members. The main goal in combat is to build up a combo meter. Building up your meter and attacking enemies enough to stun them lets you perform a chain attack. Chain attacks enable you to swap into another character that unleashes a powerful attack before swapping to a third character to finish the combo. Chain attacks are the bread and butter of this game, and being able to perform multiple chain attacks feels incredible. Building up 3000 points in your combo lets you perform your ultimate attack.

Life In New Eridu

What sets Zenless Zone Zero apart for me is team composition and combat optimization. Zenless Zone Zero behaves like a fighting game where figuring out the best ways to combo is critical. Figuring out which synergies I have and finding the best way to use my roster has been a lot of fun. The downside is that it felt like I was mashing one attack button at the beginning of the game, which didn’t feel great. That feeling isn’t helped by enemies feeling like damage sponges until the game lets you loose and you can upgrade your characters’ stats. However, once you get into the game’s flow, enemies die quickly, and it can feel amazing to perform multiple chain attacks into an ultimate.

Outside of hollow exploration, you will find plenty to do to keep you occupied in Zenless Zone Zero. The name of the Hoyoverse games is building up enough polychromes to roll on the characters you want. You have dailies that involve taking pictures of cats, eating ramen, and running the video store. There is a time-gated currency called battery charge, which can be spent by grinding combat trials to gain resources to level up characters. A cafe lets you buy coffee, which can double resource drops and restore battery charge. It is an interesting system that I hope is brought to their other games. There is also a roguelike mode similar to Simulated Universe in Honkai: Star Rail.

Gatcha!

If you are familiar with a Hoyoverse game, then the gatcha system here will be familiar. There is a guaranteed five-star character at 90 rolls, with at least a four-star character every ten chances. If you miss the banner character the first time, you are guaranteed that character next time you get a five-star character. There is a standard banner, a character banner, which rotates between limited five-star options, and a weapon banner. Unfortunately, I felt that the starting roster of characters was a bit thin compared to previous Hoyo entries, so I felt like I wasn’t getting a lot of characters to try different team compositions out. It is a problem that will be fixed with more updates, but the initial pool is smaller compared to Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail.

Something unique to Zenless Zone Zero is the bangaboo banner. The bangaboo banner functions differently than the other banners because they have a different currency than regular banners. You can pick which five-star bangaboo you want to roll for without worrying about winning coin flips. While you can’t buy this currency directly, you will get the currency you can exchange for bangaboo rolls by rolling on the other banners, which can be purchased for real money.

Zero or Hero?

Zenless Zone Zero feels like a fresh take on a genre that Hoyoverse has done already. Its setting feels unique, and its combo-centric combat allows players to experiment and express their playstyles through team compositions and combo theory. All while maintaining what makes a Hoyoverse game unique: its cast of fun characters and stellar combat. The learning curve for this game is steeper, and the roster is thin out of the gate. For those looking for an action game to stick with for a while, Zenless Zone Zero is worth checking out.

Review: Overwatch D.Va Tokki Edition Glasses

The Overwatch D.Va Tokki Edition Glasses from GUNNAR are unique. The feminine-focused style won’t be for everyone. However, if you like to stand out from the crowd and love Overwatch, these glasses will be perfect. The oversized lenses are paired with a stylish and vibrant frame. Moreover, some pleasant details add a layer of “wow” factor.

Alongside this, these glasses will benefit your eye health. Not only do they reduce fatigue, but they prevent dry lenses and headaches. Furthermore, the intelligent frame design reduces pressure on your temples. Accordingly, you can wear these all day long, and you will not feel uncomfortable. If this isn’t enough, your eyes are protected from UV and blue light. Therefore, you can work and play longer without any annoying side effects.

What’s in the box of the Overwatch D.Va Tokki Edition Glasses?

  • The outer packaging is remarkably understated. However, it can be recycled and it keeps the contents safe.
  • The Overwatch D.Va Tokki Edition Glasses are part of GUNNAR’s legendary range. Accordingly, they are jam-packed with up-market tech. Additionally, the flexible spring hinges are perfect for heavy-handed gamers.
  • A stylish case is provided to protect your product.
  • Alternatively, use the cloth pouch to keep your glasses safe.
  • Remove any dirt with the microfibre cloth.

Technical aspects.

The legendary range of glasses offers plenty of impressive features. First, you’ll enjoy GUNNAR’s G-SHIELD lens coating. This helps to reduce glare and smudging. Consequently, if you stream, your viewers will not endure unfortunate or uncomfortable light reflections. Alongside this, the amber or clear GBLF tints are created using GUNNAR’s patented lens technology.

This next-gen tech prevents your eyes from drying out. Moreover, the 65% or 35% blue light protection reduces eye fatigue and strain when you work in front of a monitor. Alternatively, maybe you would like to watch TV or use your phone for extended periods. Either way, these glasses will keep your eyes protected. Finally, if you game for hours, you’ll enjoy better reactions for longer. These glasses reduce overall levels of fatigue and this leads to better productivity and a higher score when playing your favourite FPS.

What happens if I wear prescription lenses?

You may be concerned about prescription lenses and these fashion/health-focused glasses. Well, worry not, as GUNNAR has you covered. The Overwatch D.Va Tokki Edition Glasses can be purchased with a -5 – +5 prescription included. There is an additional charge for this service, but it allows you to game and work clearly with the added health benefits.

Build quality.

This is a stylish pair of glasses that won’t appease everyone! The cat-eye acetate frame is a love-or-hate design. If you fall for its charms, you’ll wear these glasses with pride. Yet, if you dislike what you see, you will turn your nose up pretty quickly. The pastel colours are complimented by some D.Va bunny accents. This striking approach was eye-catching and attractive.

On top of this, the flexible spring hinges are great if you are somewhat heavy-handed. Though they won’t take a beating like some of GUNNAR’s other products, they are pretty hard-wearing. Finally, the moderate arms are comfortable and snug. The well-moulded earpieces fit your ears nicely, and I had no concerns regarding accidents.

Are the Overwatch D.Va Tokki Edition Glasses worth it?

Though these glasses will appeal to a niche audience, I think they look great. Furthermore, the health benefits are clear and I love the Overwatch theme. On top of this, the accessories are fantastic. If you have the style to pull these glasses off, you will look fabulous behind your desk. Subsequently, they are great and I recommend buying them here!

Review: Kingdom’s Dungeon Rage

Kingdom’s Dungeon Rage is an infuriating yet fun affair that will make you question your life choices! This incredibly simple affair shouldn’t make you so angry. However, minor mistakes lead to failure. Furthermore, failure leads to death, and death leads to angry squeaks and plenty of rage quitting.

This cruel puzzle title was developed by Mascot Bro Studio and published by Samustai Ltd. Furthermore, it is a single-player game that plays from a fixed-screen perspective. This simple approach is deceptive as your agility and patience are put to the test. What’s more, spikes, flames, and other obstacles will cause you no end of problems.

Kingdom’s Dungeon Rage keeps things simple.

The King has been imprisoned and no one can save him. Accordingly, what is he to do? Will he sit back and allow his captures to win, or will he sulk, cry, and starve to death? Well, the answer is neither, as this royal legend can think for himself. Additionally, he is nimble and light on his feet. Consequently, he does whatever he can to escape his prison.

You control the hero as he escapes the same dungeon repeatedly. Yet, there is a sting in the tail as there are minor twists to the gameplay mechanics. As you explore the small stage looking for a key/keys/pieces of a key, you must overcome plenty of obstacles. Every stage differs slightly, and it is your responsibility to work out what is required. Moreover, a cheeky hint is given at the start of each level. Subsequently, you must work out the puzzle, find the solution, and unlock the prison door.

Basic ideas.

Kingdom’s Dungeon Rage has over 180 rage-inducing levels to overcome. Each stage has a unique layer that keeps you on your toes. Whether you must walk a strict path or you avoid fire, the clues are plain to see. Alternatively, maybe the world is inverted, or you are wearing a cloak of invisibility. Either way, you must traverse a dungeon filled with danger and obstacles.

On paper, this seems like an easy task. However, having spent hours traversing the same dungeon arena, I can say it will break your balls. I loved the simplicity and the deceptive nature of the action. Yet, I wanted to murder the developers for their sadomasochistic tendencies. Failing repeatedly is never an easy pill to swallow, but once you complete a particularly difficult level, there is a euphoric sense of reward. Accordingly, if you like a challenging experience, this will be the game for you.

Kingdom’s Dungeon Rage isn’t a next-gen masterpiece.

I’ve played enough indie titles that I appreciate that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Kingdom’s Dungeon Rage is a pixelated title that uses an earthy colour palette. Furthermore, the animation is clunky and the dungeon is rudimentary at best. Yet, I loved the simple layout as this made it easier to comprehend every problem you faced. Moreover, I liked the basic style even though it won’t blow you away.

The audio adds drama to an otherwise flat experience. Exploring the same landscape repeatedly should have been a boring endeavour. Yet, the upbeat and synth soundtrack kept me focused throughout. Alongside this, the basic but suitable sound effects added a morbid sense of humour. The squelch of humans on spikes and the scream of death were enough to bring a wry smile to my face.

Clunky controls.

Though Kingdom’s Dungeon Rage has a straightforward control layout, the controls are still remarkably clunky. If you use the D-pad, the hero moves like a stuttering snail. However, if you plump for the analogue stick, you must be careful not to overdo things. Sadly, jumping into spikes or mistiming precise movements was too easy. These issues led to unwanted deaths, which in turn led to plenty of screaming and rage quitting. In short, it is the perfect storm of hatred and anger.

180+ levels are enough to test anyone’s patience. When you add in an ever-changing environment and plenty of obstacles to overcome, there is loads of replay value and longevity. Though it is relatively straightforward and many differences are minor, you’ll still return for more.

Kingdom’s Dungeon Rage is a great indie title.

Simplicity and brutality are the perfect ingredients for a great indie title. Thankfully, Kingdom’s Dungeon Rage focuses on both of these elements. Moreover, the subtle changes are enough to test you throughout. Though its tough ways and poor controls will put some people off, I loved it and recommend buying it here! Will a locked door prevent the King from escaping? Plan your route, solve the problem, and escape 180+ times.

Review: The Night of the Rabbit

Once we all get to a certain age, the nostalgic floodgates unleash and we grasp onto what pampers these feelings. For instance, some of us may rummage through old children’s storybooks and feel embraced by this bittersweetness; the soft, watery illustrations of cozy atmospheres and huggable critters.

Wouldn’t it be so wonderous to bring these images to life, or rather to insert oneself onto the pages and become a curious, childlike Christopher Robin-type protagonist, and roam and explore those vivid landscapes? We had the chance to explore the 100 Acre Woods in Kingdom Hearts III . . . but it lacked a certain storybook appeal.

The Night of the Rabbit, developed by Daedalic Entertainment, presents elegant 2D scenes straight out of a fairytale, coupled with brilliantly charming dialogue and sound design. Originally released in 2013, this title is not your average point-and-click adventure. Players become immersed in the world of Mousewood and set off on a magical journey full of awe and anxiety.

This game can be played on PC, Steam, and the Nintendo Switch.

Welcome to Mousewood

Introduction of Jeramiah Hazelnut, magician's apprentice

A young boy named Jeramiah Hazelnut has had a lifelong dream of becoming a magician. With only two days left of summer vacation, he suddenly receives a mysterious flying letter giving him instructions on how to summon a chest of magical goods, once owned by famed illusionist Zaroff. Completing this spell initiates the entrance of an anthropomorphic rabbit named the Marquis de Hoto, who identifies himself as a “treewalker.” The Marquis takes Jerry as a magician’s apprentice, and promises to return him home before school resumes.

The Marquis first teaches Jerry how to find portals within certain trees, and walk amongst them into new worlds. Jerry and the Marquis teleport into the magical, parallel universe of Mousewood, full of mice, squirrel, frog, and owl persons. The first chapter of the game tasks Jeramiah with prepping for the Treetop Festival by gathering baked goods, “blue juice,” and sending out magical invitations.

To walk among the trees

In terms of genre, The Night of the Rabbit is a puzzle-solving, point-and-click adventure. Jerry is able to interact with and pick up various items, as well as combine them for unique results. Jerry also has this gold coin with a hole in the center, allowing him to magically see all interactable objects within a scene. Players learn various spells throughout the game, like “rockwhisper” and the “cunning spell.” Jerry is taught how to be a treewalker, so players will traverse through tree portals into completely different areas throughout each chapter.

Mousewood in The Night of the Rabbit

Players also have extra options, like collecting dewdrops, stickers, “stories” for endgame bonus content, and playing cards. These 32 cards can be used to play a game called Quartet, which you can engage in with the inhabitants of Mousewood and the portal dwellers. It plays similarly to the popular game Go Fish.

Flipping through the pages

The Night of the Rabbit is gorgeous and passionate, akin to the aesthetic of The Tale of Peter Rabbit or Winnie the Pooh but with sharper edges. The game’s landscapes are well-detailed, softly colored, and full of life with the plethora of charming, unusual townspeople. Each character has fully voice-acted lines, which came as quite the surprise. Jerry himself speaks jovially and with wit; personally, I think that his jokes are cringy and his comedic timing is sub par, but it is a nice touch nonetheless. Jeramiah feels like an active protagonist.

The Hall of the first tree in The Night of the Rabbit

The game begins lighthearted and playful but as the adventure continues, some of the settings and story elements grow darker . . . ultimately leading to a final duel and a massive lore drop. The Night of the Rabbit is full of surprises and feels rather dreamlike, but not to the point of nightmarish. Even for a point-and-click game, there is a lot to do. Jerry has to worry about crows and lizards, as well as solve a plethora of puzzles, travel through five different portals, and ultimately pass the test to become a true magician.

A puzzling adventure

As splendid as the graphics, soundtrack, and storyline are, the gameplay itself is kind of dull. The Night of the Rabbit is certainly imaginative, but aside from occasionally learning new spells, the mechanics become stagnant. The game is around 14-16 hours long, but I found myself to grow quite bored just a few hours in.

Inventory and spells of Jeramiah Hazelnut

Solutions to puzzles can be rather strange, or just not intuitive. Clues and advice given from the “Advice Seeker” spell were mostly useless, or even more confusing. Like a lot of point-and-click games, there is hardly any workaround to the mechanics. Feeling stumped will leave players dead in their tracks. While the game itself is innovative, the puzzle solutions are not: such strict, singular answers to problems limit player creativity.

For example, why is Jerry prevented from pocketing strawberries, but is expected to pocket acorns for a future puzzle? Or, if players thought that two items may work together, Jerry would nag “that doesn’t go there” or “hmm, I don’t think so.” A lot of puzzles required an unnecessary order of operations that were pointless–such as players would have to plant a tree in the daytime, not night, or players would have to display a trophy and then polish it, not the other way around. The trial and error to find one bizarre solution was frustrating. For a hefty chunk of the game, I had to relent to a guide just to get over the slog.

Final thoughts

As mentioned earlier, while the game begins like a fairytale, there is an underlying dark plot. However, these darker aspects are hardly uncovered until the final fourth of the game. Slogging through ten hours of tedious, guide-mandatory puzzles to finally get some juice is not preferable. Even then, the final duel is underwhelming at best, and does not integrate itself well. For a moment, it feels like I am playing a different video game, and not one that is particularly better.

Opening scene of treewalker in Night of the Rabbit

With these shortcomings, The Night of the Rabbit is not for everyone. However, overall, this game has fantastic visual and sound design and a hefty serving of storybook charm. The characters are a huge highlight with both their outward and inward diversity, and the game does a fantastic job at putting the player into Jerry’s shoes as if you were exploring the world yourself. I am generally not a fan of point-and-clicks, but I do think The Night of the Rabbit is deserving of some accolades. Story-wise, the game has allure, but overall, be ready for tome toiling.

Review: Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengeance

Almost a year after its initial release, Slayers X lands on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. Does this quirky shooter have enough charm? Or should it have stayed in the 90’s?

A Simulation Inside A Simulation

Slayers X is a truly unique product in every sense of the word. Set in the same universe as 2019’s Hypnospace Outlaw, Slayers X is a game within a game. The game is marketed as developed by the main character of the story Zane Lofton, through Big Z Studios Inc. Having supposedly started the development of Slayers X in the 90s, Zane has decided to return and complete the game whilst working as a manager at the Dollar Shaver. It’s a ridiculous concept but one that you really have to admire; the lengths the developers have gone to in order to market the game such as through social media, is something to behold, with developer Jay Tholen posts all made as if Zane was posting himself.

The story itself of Slayers X is bizarre, stupid and preposterous, but it just has this charm about it. Set in 1998, you play as Zane, a teenager who, like most teenagers in the 90s, thinks he knows better about everything and anything. He is a part of the superhuman team, the X Slayers. This team is thrown into turmoil when Zane’s mother and mentor are killed in the games opening cutscene by the villainous Pysko Syndicate. This makes Zane the only person who can save the city of Boise, Idaho. It’s such a ridiculous concept it actually works quite well. Cutscenes are animated like a 90’s show and voiced to such an exaggerated extent that it’s hard not to laugh at everything the characters are saying. The story itself is a simple revenge plot, but what makes this game so unique is its concept; we are playing as Zane who is also the developer of the game so it’s a world within a world, very meta. There are notes left around the world from Zane that are hilarious and obnoxious. The story is never going to win any awards and it’s forgettable but it’s good at what it sets out to do as you cannot help but applaud it, so quintessentially 90’s in every aspect, particularly gameplay.

Hail To The King, Baby!

When I first began playing Slayers X, it was like I had stepped into a time capsule. Modelled so clearly after games like Doom and Duke Nukem 3D, Slayers X is a blast to play. It’s a simple first person shooter that doesn’t try to do too much with its gameplay. Gun play is serviceable and movement is sleek, whilst the classic 90’s shooter tropes, such as health packs and the character’s face at the bottom of the screen are much welcomed choices. Weapons are hilarious: a shotgun that fires glass shards; a grenade launcher that fires sewage to attract rats, or the S-Blade, a katana infused with the games mysterious power Hack Blood. All these weapons feel great to use and the variety in the game is absolutely fantastic. It feels as good today as Doom did back then. A true homage to the classic FPS games of old.

This game plays so much like Duke Nukem 3D, in its levels that are both open and linear at the same time. Countless times I would walk down areas only to find some stupid picture mocking me for going that way, or just something absurd like Zane’s terrible writing sprawled on a door or window. It’s small touches like this that make Slayers X so endearing. Each of the 10 levels available in the base game plays the same: shoot your way through, find the key and exit the level or defeat a boss beforehand. Simple, yet satisfying. Bosses are also a strong point in the game, with my personal favourite being a literal toilet that throws excrement at you whilst you are swirling around in a big landfill – yes it’s that stupid! Slayers X is such a simple pick up and play game, the developers (or maybe I should be thanking Zane) have done an excellent job crafting a true relic of the past but in a good way.

A Gloriously Disgusting Time

Slayers X looks terrible, but it’s purposely designed that way. Levels range from a supermarket to underground bases and more. There is just this level of charm added to each area that’s hard to quantify. I truly felt like I had been transported back into the early FPS’s of old. Character models look awful and blocky but again it’s what the game is going for. Everything visually screams 90’s gaming and I absolutely loved that. Even small additions like Zane’s face changing at the bottom of the screen based on your health is a lovely little touch. Another clear throw-back to games of old are the level designs themselves. Levels have many different hidden areas and secrets to find, some hilarious like Zane’s messages to himself and other areas like secret weapons and powerups. Bosses look increasingly ridiculous as the game goes on, and levels become spectacles of just utter chaos as Zane fights to kill Pysko Syndicate. This game is never ever going to blow you away visually, but it really doesn’t care. It’s unequivocally vulgar and violent and you have to admire that.

The element of the game I loved the most by far was the soundtrack itself. It’s emo, it’s metal and it’s just an absolute blast! Composed by Seepage, the soundtrack just oozes punk rock and metal, with over 30 tracks available in the game. It truly felt like it could have been Green Day and Linkin Park making these songs as I blasted, hacked and slashed my way through the game. The soundtrack feels like it never stops as there is constant music blaring through the game to keep the tempo up. You’re constantly on the move and the music echoes this. A wonderful soundtrack.

Sound design is also strong in Slayers X. Guns sound fantastic and weighty upon firing, enemies groan and moan when attacked, reminding me so much of games like Quake and Doom. Zane is hilarious when he speaks, as most of the time it’s just obnoxious nonsense coming out of his mouth but it keeps the game feeling light-hearted. The best way I think I can sum up the sound is that it’s reminiscent of a 90’s game but with modern day enhancements to make it feel upgraded and improved.

Verdict

Slayers X truly is a throwback to the past. For players seeking a retro arcade shooter, all the ingredients are here but with added vulgarity and punk rock mayhem. This is never going to blow people away with its gameplay and visuals but it doesn’t care and I can truly admire a game that just wants to have fun. Whilst the story is forgettable, the soundtrack kept me wanting to replay levels just to hear those songs again. In a gaming world where developers are constantly trying to iterate and innovate, it is bizarrely refreshing to experience a game that is so old school. See you in the 90’s!

Review: Overwatch Ultimate Gaming Glasses

The Overwatch Ultimate Gaming Glasses from GUNNAR will impress fans of the franchise. Not only are they lightweight, but they match the vivid colours we’ve all come to expect. Furthermore, they have some pleasant Easter Eggs to thrill lovers of the game.

Alongside this, the glasses are ideal if you love to play for extended periods or if you work in front of a monitor. Alternatively, they make watching your TV or using your phone much more comfortable. Thanks to the UV and blue light protection, your eyes will feel refreshed. Moreover, you can eliminate those tired and itchy notions as your eyes will not dry out.

What’s in the box of the Overwatch Ultimate Gaming Glasses?

  • The packaging is understated. Accordingly, a simple logo and subtle colour keep things under the radar.
  • The Overwatch Ultimate Gaming Glasses are wonderful to handle. The lightweight design feels comfortable and I loved the amber-tinted lenses. Finally, the colours are striking and the glasses are extremely well-built.
  • A soft cloth case is provided to keep the product safe.
  • Clean the lenses with the Overwatch-themed microfibre cloth.

Technical aspects.

Blue light and UV light will make your eyes tired and dry. Thankfully, the Overwatch Ultimate Gaming Glasses remove these issues. Thanks to the 65% blue light protection and 100% UV light protection, your eyes will feel wonderful. Additionally, GUNNAR’s patented technology keeps your eyes moist. Consequently, you needn’t worry about that uncomfortable scraping feeling when you’ve played or worked for too long.

On top of this, the G-SHIELD lens coating reduces smudging and unwanted reflected light. Therefore, if you stream, your followers will not be distracted by fingerprints or the glare of your backlighting. Where these glasses excel is the health benefits. I’ve been wearing GUNNAR glasses for years, and my productivity has improved. I no longer struggle with eye strain and my headaches are vastly reduced. Accordingly, I have better reactions when I game, and I can stare at harsh contrasting colours without wincing.

Build quality.

Unsurprisingly, these glasses are robust and well-built. The frame is made of precision polymer and weighs 20 grams. The nose bridge is wide and comfortable, and the arms are chunky but not oversized. As such, they rest nicely on your temple without adding too much pressure. Finally, the lenses are a little on the large size. This was great as it increases the area of protection for your eyes.

Each element of this package was impressive. The soft case and the microfibre cloth are nicely constructed. The stitching is neat, and I was not concerned that the lenses would become scratched. Furthermore, a handy drawstring keeps the glasses safe when you are out and about. The sturdy multi-barrel hinges are perfect for heavy-handed gamers. Moreover, I loved the clean and smooth movement as I opened and closed the arms.

Are the Overwatch Ultimate Gaming Glasses worth it?

These gaming glasses are from GUNNAR’s signature range. As such, you get their market-leading tech without paying a crazy price. Yes, they may not have the flair and finish of the legendary or epic range, but they deliver every health benefit without breaking the bank. Additionally, if you love Overwatch, you’ll appreciate the grey and orange finish and the small Easter eggs. Accordingly, these glasses are fantastic and I recommend buying them here!

Review: I Am Your President

I Am Your President is a satirical title that tries to make light of American politics. Additionally, it allows you to take the seat of the “most powerful job on Earth”. As such, you’d think there would be some tactical elements and a pinch of logical thinking. Instead, you are overwhelmed with never-ending dialogue and some pretty clunky controls. Accordingly, it was a bit of a mess even though I laughed throughout.

This simulation title was developed and published by Ultimate Games. Furthermore, it is a solo experience that is played out from a first-person perspective. There are layers of statistics to get your head around and plenty of ways to influence your term as President. Yet, I found much of the action to be confusing and many of the core elements were poorly explained. Even with some trial and error, I struggled and this frustrated me repeatedly.

I Am Your President has branching storylines.

I’m not an expert in American politics. Consequently, the whole Republican and Democratic Party divide is alien to me. What’s more, the heavily laced political in-jokes and nods to recent agendas were lost on me. Yet, I’m not sure if this mattered too much as you may select your agenda, political party, and goals from beginning to end. I liked this as it was a gentle learning curve that wasn’t too overwhelming. However, if you have an understanding of what happens over the pond, you’ll probably appreciate this more than I did.

The action focuses on your term as the President of the United States of America. During your first or second term, you must set the agenda and work with different members of staff to make each element work. However, this is easier said than done as you have to work through mountains of dialogue and plenty of paperwork. Moreover, there was a problem with the overworld map that prevented you from seeing all the information. This was disappointing as this led to plenty of guesswork and many failed opportunities.

So many choices.

The gameplay flows from one moment to another without respite. Consequently, you must spin many plates if you wish to be a success. As each member of staff proposes a new idea, you must contemplate how it’ll impact your stats and the aims of your term. Sadly, you can not always appease every person and must make some difficult decisions. Whether this is going to war, signing a challenging bill, or aiming to become the most powerful country in the world, it isn’t easy.

As you make decisions, you’ll improve your popularity and increase your influence. Alternatively, bad decisions will hit your numbers and make you extremely unpopular. Either way, you have to balance the books whilst attempting to keep to your pledges. Unsurprisingly, the game throws in some curveballs that muck things up. Yet, at times, the massive political scandals have almost no impact and this was surprising. This lack of realism undermines much of the action and left me feeling confused about I Am Your President’s overall aim.

I Am Your President has an unusual style.

I Am Your President reminded me of a Monty Python sketch. The strange cardboard cutout characters and the weird facial expressions create a cold and almost emotionless atmosphere. Every time a member of staff marches into your office, they walk with a stiff and uncomfortable strut. Moreover, they stand with a gormless look on their faces that doesn’t match the severity of the message they are delivering. Though I found this to be strange, it worked particularly well. My biggest complaint is the ridiculous UI. The map is tough to navigate, and the text doesn’t fit the display. Subsequently, you missed key information and that wasn’t acceptable.

As expected, the audio has outlandish moments that match the American theme. Yet, this rarely takes away from the numerous issues on display. Furthermore, the basic sound effects are suitable, but they rarely add to the action. As such, though it delivered what was expected, it did not blow me away.

Poor controls.

This was originally a PC-only title. Having been ported to console, I expected the developer to deliver smooth and responsive controls. However, sadly, they are often clunky and this makes the UI tough to navigate. This was maddening as I wanted the gameplay to flow nicely. Instead, the immersion is often broken as you struggle to move from each key element.

In theory, I Am Your President has plenty of replay value. Yet, the aforementioned issues hold it back. Consequently, I struggled to work through my 2nd term and this annoyed me. This was a shame, as I love a satirical approach. Disappointingly, the amusing elements are often marred by the non-stop negative moments.

I Am Your President should have been much better.

Though I liked the idea, much of the execution was poor. Unfortunately, I Am Your President misses the mark on several layers. The UI is appalling and this undermines much of the action. Furthermore, the controls are woeful, and I found it to be too confusing to be enjoyable. For these reasons, I don’t recommend buying it. However, more information can be found here! Can you successfully run the most powerful seat in the world? Choose your party, pick your goals, and make it to a second term.

Despite not being a typical visual novel enthusiast, I found myself deeply immersed in the decision-making process that “B Project Ryusei Fantasia” offers. The game excels in providing players with meaningful choices that influence the story’s direction and the development of relationships with the idols. There are two primary endings, but the journey to each can vary significantly based on your interactions and management style. Review: The Last Alchemist

The Last Alchemist is a 3D-isometric farming and alchemy simulator with story-driven and complex gameplay.

Going in, I was not expecting such a heavy game, and I am not just talking about the constant drop in frames. For better or worse, The Last Alchemist truly has a lot to say.

The Last Farmer

The farming side of The Alchemist is fairly basic as most games go. You go out and scavenge resources, then come back to grow them in your mansion. As it sounds, the goal here is to find seeds for required resources and ultimately create a semi-automated factory for yourself.

You have a few tools at your disposal, like the axe and the looking glass. You need to look through the looking glass to search for items and break down the ones you need with the axe.

The Last Alchemist

And now here’s where things get interesting. When you get a resource or a collection of resources, you can put them in a machine that will extract their essence and leave them as nothing more than chemical formulas in the form of liquid in a bottle. Now that I think about it, we were just juicing those things.

This juice is then used either by itself or by another machine, combining with other juices to create concoctions that are then either used to add to other machines or make tools, basically just creating anything to make your life more efficient. It is quite insane to look at.

The Last Alchemy Story

The plot of 3D-isometric The Last Alchemy is where it really shines. You play as an old man titled The Last Alchemist. If his name was ever mentioned, I must have missed it.

After a plague killed everyone in his village, he left to find a cure for them and himself. Ultimately, he failed and decided that he would never go back.

But when he lost his own leg due to illness and was dying, he decided to return to his old master, Sindivogius, to find a cure.

To his dismay, the master had died of the disease himself.

Our MC decided to use his master’s machines to try and create a cure but ended up causing an explosion that blew the entire castle to the ground.

When he woke up, he found himself in the care of creatures called the Enoki and their leader Agari… or they are the Agari, and their leader is called Enoki.

Whatever the case, we must now use the help of these creatures to fix the castle and find a cure for our disease before it kills us. It is all thrilling stuff and worth going through the complex story.

Of course, The Last Alchemist isn’t all perfection.

Alchemy is Not all rainbows and Sunshine.

There is a system where, when you want to create something or get a machine to do something, you have to wait for the process with a timer overhead. Sometimes, this takes a few minutes and is very annoying, especially when you don’t have any other tasks to do and just wait.

The camera is really bad at behaving, and it gets annoying when you have to walk long distances just to look at something, when a camera tilt could have been really helpful over the 3D-isometric feeling.

Finally, putting items into your inventory is very annoying. You either carry them automatically or do it manually. The automatic feature always ends up making you pick things you don’t want, while the other method has you use your cursor to slowly pick things up and drag them to the inventory box.

Putting things out or managing them in the inventory is even worse. You have to drag them from side to side, and if you go too fast, they will lock back into place.

Worth the curve

Despite its flaws, The Last Alchemist offers a unique blend of farming, alchemy, and storytelling that keeps you engaged.

The complex 3D-isometric gameplay and intriguing plot make it worth the effort, even with the occasional frustration with the alchemy and Farming. If you can handle the quirks, you’ll find a rewarding experience that stands out in the genre.

Review: PowerWash Simulator: Alice’s Adventures

PowerWash Simulator: Alice’s Adventures is the latest addition to the crazy and often eclectic PowerWash franchise. This relaxing and rewarding title allows gamers the freedom of some psychedelic and weird arenas. Furthermore, you can play this alone or ask up to 5 friends to join you as you clean some whacky environments. Like the other DLC titles, you get a smattering of stages to enjoy. However, each one is massive and cleaning them thoroughly is no easy task.

This simulation game was developed by FuturLab Limited and published by Square Enix. Moreover, it sticks to tried and tested mechanics and fans of the base game or other DLC content will have a whale of a time. Yet, if you are new to this title, you needn’t worry. Thankfully, a thorough tutorial and excellent controller layout help you to cut through the red tape and get up and running quickly.

PowerWash Simulator: Alice’s Adventures tells a limited tale.

Though Alice in Wonderland is a crazy acid trip with a thrilling and twisty tale, PowerWash Simulator: Alice’s Adventures doesn’t follow suit. Instead, you are introduced to titbits of lore and information to build up an interesting foundation. Now, this isn’t a complaint, as I’d be surprised to find any sort of plot. Instead, I enjoyed the minor story elements and the incredible settings.

The gameplay revolves around 5 monstrous stages. Each level captures the essence of the theme and you’ll enjoy cleaning each arena. You flit from the White Rabbit’s house to the caterpillar’s mushroom. On top of this, you can enjoy a cuppa with the Mad Hatter or witness the cruel nature of the Queen of Hearts. Each scenario is unique and if you are familiar with the book, you’ll adore the Easter Eggs you’ll discover.

Standard mechanics.

Though the levels are striking and interesting to explore, the mechanics tread familiar ground. Your cleaning hero is armed with a pressure washer and a handful of nozzles. Each tool must be used to clean an array of surfaces. At first, the level is covered with grime and dirt as far as the eye can see. Yet, as you let your pressure washer go to work, the true nature of each world comes to light.

I loved this element of discovery and the relaxing gameplay. Though many of the structures are often overbearing, it is fascinating to see the dirt disappear. Additionally, there is a knack for finding every last ounce of dirt. Subsequently, you must remain calm and work methodically if you wish to succeed.

PowerWash Simulator: Alice’s Adventures is a vivid experience.

Having played the Spongebob DLC, I didn’t expect the developer to create another outlandish and crazy DLC. However, I was wrong as PowerWash Simulator: Alice’s Adventures is a vivid and psychedelic experience. The bright colours and strange landmarks capture your attention. Furthermore, the larger-than-life items play with your mind. I cherished the layers of detail and particularly enjoyed the caterpillar stage. The enormous mushroom was paired with plenty of tiny layers. Moreover, the eye-watering colours only add to the madness that unfolds.

Sadly, the same can’t be said for the audio. There is a lack of background music and this was disappointing. Instead, you are met with a wall of water noises that will drive you crazy. What’s more, you occasionally hear some skittish and strange noises that enhance the fantasy layers. However, these moments are few and far between and that is unfortunate.

Spectacular controls.

Where this excels is its user-friendly approach. No matter your ability or level of skill, you will master this in no time. Each level opens with an explanation of the controller layout, and you are free to take as long as you like to complete every level. Consequently, this relaxed approach allows you to take in every sight without a sense of pressure.

This laid-back idea was great. Yet, there is unfortunately a lack of replay value and longevity. If you tackle this as a solo gamer, you will invest plenty of time in getting it finished. But if you team up with your friends, you will nail it in no time at all. Thankfully, there are some hidden achievements if that is your thing and this will pad things out slightly.

PowerWash Simulator: Alice’s Adventures is a great addition to the franchise.

Though it isn’t long enough, I still believe that PowerWash Simulator: Alice’s Adventures is great value for money. If you love the franchise or the book/film, then this is a must-have title. Moreover, I adore the relaxing gameplay and how easy it is to play. Additionally, the vivid graphics and wonderful stage layout are eye-catching. Accordingly, this is a great DLC and I recommend buying it here! Can you clean every ounce of dirt? Grab your machine, gather your friends, and get to work.
