Myths & Magic

Hidden Through Time 2: Myths and Magic is a fantastic title if you have kids who love hidden object games. However, if you don’t have youngsters in tow, you will still enjoy the colourful worlds and the mind-boggling problems you face. Alongside this, I loved the theme of myth and magic. The developers have done a cracking job of incorporating plenty of creative licence into every aspect.

This 2D hidden object title was developed and published by Rogueside. Furthermore, it is a single-player experience set across 4 unique gameplay worlds. The blend of themes and the strange hidden items will make you smile and keep you on your toes. However, there are helpful hints to ensure that your children are never out of their depth. This user-friendly approach was perfect as my kids enjoyed working through each puzzle they selected.

Hidden Through Time 2 allows the pictures to tell the story.

Though each world has a special backstory, these don’t sit at the fore. Instead, the fun cutscene sets the mood for each puzzle you encounter. Alongside this, the characters match each theme and I loved the cheeky nature of every stage. Whether it was unruly animals, servants, magical beings, or treasure, you have to have your eyes peeled to find them all.

The action demands that you explore a small area loaded with different items. Additionally, you can shift each stage from night to day or winter to summer. Either way, there are special things to find in each scenario and there is a special hidden object that must be located. As you search through one mode, you will not be able to find every object. Instead, you must shift the perspective to find every element. This was a fascinating way to expand the action without adding too many levels. Furthermore, I loved how each world changed depending on the season or the time of day.

Become a creative genius.

Searching for every item was great fun. Yet, I adored the Architect 2.0 mode. If you are a creative genius, and you wish to show your creations off to the world, now is your chance. Hidden Through Time 2 allows you to use every in-game asset to create your own hidden object puzzle. If this isn’t enough, you can share this with your friends and strangers online to see if they can solve your puzzle.

Alongside this, you may test your mettle against other people’s creations. I tackled some weird and wonderful maps and each made me smile. Yes, there were some rubbish ones, but I applauded the effort. Whenever I stumbled across a spectacular effort, I was blown away by the creative ideas and the attention to detail. As such, this creative mode ensures that you will always have a new world to explore and never-ending possibilities.

Hidden Through Time 2 looks amazing.

Hidden Through Time 2 had the potential to be overwhelming and difficult to look at. Thankfully, this wasn’t the case as I loved the clean character models and vibrant stage design. What’s more, the difference between night and day and the changes in the seasons were fantastic.

The audio is fun and energetic, but subtle. As you spend most of your time focusing on tiny items, you don’t hear the upbeat soundtrack. This was a shame as the music matched each theme. I wouldn’t say that the subtlety was a waste, but it would have been better if the music was more in your face and obvious.

Excellent controls.

The controls make this a particularly easy game to play. Thanks to the excellent button layout and the responsive inputs, anyone can play this. Moreover, the superb UI helps you find hints and highlight every missing object. The camera control is smooth and navigating each level was a cinch. Rarely do my children just get on and play a game. However, Hidden Through Time 2 has succeeded where many others have failed.

If you simply look at the core gameplay mode, then this has limited replay value and longevity. Yet, if you love to get creative and try out other people’s ideas, then this will keep you coming back for more. On top of this, there are many secrets to discover; each map will test your observation skills and patience.

Hidden Through Time 2 is a great game.

I’m not a massive fan of hidden object games. They are normally clunky and “adult” affairs. Subsequently, I tire of them quickly and generally stop playing before I should. Luckily, Hidden Through Time 2 bucks that trend. The fun themes and colourful worlds make it a joy to play. In addition, my kids can play it easily, which is always a winner. Accordingly, it is great and I recommend buying it here! Can you find every item that is hidden in plain sight? Explore each level, search every nook and cranny, and find the hidden items.
