Indy Cars Coming to Forza Motorsport 5 for Xbox One

0

Microsoft and Turn 10 Studios, the creators of the “Forza Motorsport” Xbox series of racing games, have announced today that open-wheel cars will be making their series debut in “Forza Motorsport 5” for Xbox One. For the first time ever, players will be able to drive open-wheel cars, including current and historic grand prix racing cars, as well as race cars from the IZOD IndyCar Series.

Forza 5 Indy Cars

“Including open-wheel cars in ‘Forza Motorsport 5’ brings ‘Forza’ fans a whole new world of racing action,” said Alan Hartman, studio manager for Turn 10 Studios. “Players will be able to drive these incredible cars on a collection of world-famous race circuits as well as our Prague city track, which we debuted this week at E3. In addition, the brand new graphics engine in ‘Forza Motorsport 5,’ powered by the Xbox One, will let ‘Forza’ players get closer than ever to these amazing cars and to really build an appreciation for these masterpieces of race engineering.”

For the first time, “Forza Motorsport 5” will feature Formula 1 cars, including the 1976 McLaren M23 and the 1976 Ferrari 312-2 cars driven by Niki Lauda and James Hunt, respectively, during the 1976 F1 Season.  These models are the same cars featured in Universal Pictures’ upcoming Rush, an epic action-drama directed by Academy Award® winner Ron Howard, and will be available as a free download to all “Forza Motorsport 5” players at launch.

In addition, IndyCar race cars will be making their series debut in “Forza Motorsport 5.” The game will feature cars representing four of the top teams in the IZOD IndyCar Series: Andretti Autosport, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, Target Chip Ganassi Racing, and Team Penske.

“IndyCar fans have been asking to see IZOD IndyCar Series cars in a console game for some time, and partnering with industry leaders such as Microsoft and Turn 10 Studios certainly satisfies that wish,” said Greg Gruning, executive vice president for Corporate Business Development, INDYCAR. “We couldn’t have better partners to showcase our sport to a young, technology-driven demographic than with the platform provided by the Xbox One and ‘Forza Motorsports 5.’”

The open-wheel announcement was made during the “Forza Motorsport 5” showcase in Los Angeles as part of E3 2013, an event celebrating the upcoming release of “Forza Motorsport 5.” The event featured numerous celebrity appearances, including 2013 Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan, two-time IndyCar Series Champion Scott Dixon, 2011 Firestone Indy Lights Champion Josef Newgarden, and more. In addition, showcase attendees were treated to an exclusive look at Rush, featuring never-before-seen footage of the film, which will make its U.S. debut on September 20, 2013.

Pokémon Video Game Director Reveals New Battle Scenarios

0

Masuda, Director at GAME FREAK inc., joined Tsunekazu Ishihara, President and CEO of The Pokémon Company, at Nintendo’s E3 Developer Roundtable on Tuesday evening in Los Angeles to discuss Pokémon history. And share new features debuting in the Pokémon X and Pokémon Y video games when they launch worldwide October 12, 2013, for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.

Mr. Masuda revealed a new communication feature debuting in Pokémon X and Pokémon YPlayer Search System or PSS. He also showcased two new battle scenarios players will come across when exploring the Kalos region—Horde Encounters and Sky Battles. These new ways to battle will require Pokémon Trainers to plan accordingly and build a Pokémon party that can withstand a multitude of Pokémon or take on flying Pokémon high in the sky.

Clauncher_Flingouste_Scampisto_screenshot_1

The PSS allows players to connect, battle, and trade with other players nearby and around the world. PSS makes it easy to find other people playing Pokémon X or Pokémon Y near you or even on the other side of the world. When the new communication feature is on, PSS alerts players when someone nearby is playing Pokémon X or Pokémon Y and gives you the option to battle or trade with them wirelessly. Players with an Internet connection can also connect with Pokémon X and Pokémon Y players anywhere in the world via the PSS, making it easy to battle or trade with others close by or thousands of miles away.

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tn2ZZb88gRw?feature=player_embedded%5D

When Pokémon like Houndour, Axew, Tauros, and Miltank appear en masse in the wild in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, players will be facing a Horde Encounter. In past Pokémon titles, Pokémon battles have always involved the same number of Pokémon on both sides, like a regular one-on-one match or a Triple Battle. Horde Encounters take battling to a new, intense level that forces a player to battle against multiple wild Pokémon that attack all at once—with only a single Pokémon on the player’s side. Players will need to ensure their Pokémon has moves that can attack multiple Pokémon at once or they may quickly find themselves on the losing end of the battle.

Select Trainers you encounter in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will challenge players to Sky Battles—fierce battles that take the action high above ground. While players traverse the Kalos region, Trainers standing high on cliffs or in other distant places will want to battle, but players can only participate if they have certain Pokémon in their party that can fly. The Sky Battle is a visually stunning battle scenario and an exciting new addition to Pokémon video games.

Never-before-seen Pokémon made their debut at Nintendo’s E3 Developer Roundtable:

·         An evolved form of the recently announced Fletchling, Talonflame, is a Fire- and Flying-type Pokémon that gains a whole new level of speed and firepower. Reaching speeds of up to 310 mph when diving for its prey, Talonflame can attack its foes with devastating kicks while embers spew from its body as it zooms through the sky. Talonflame knows Brave Bird, one of the strongest Flying-type moves. Use Brave Bird carefully, though, because the incredible strength of this move also does damage to the user.

·         The Water Gun Pokémon Clauncher uses its one oversized claw not only to seize prey but also to shoot condensed water at others as a projectile. This capability is so intense that it can crack a boulder! A Water-type Pokémon, Clauncher can also use its giant claw to crush opponents with the powerful Water-type move Crabhammer, which is more likely to land a critical hit. Critical hits against opposing Pokémon will do twice the usual damage.

·         Some would say that the Poison- and Water-type Pokémon Skrelp appears to be nothing more than a rotting piece of kelp, but don’t let its appearance fool you. Using its unique look to its benefit, Skrelp pretends to be a piece of seaweed, and when prey wander past it, Skrelp bathes them in poison so they can’t struggle when it attacks. Skrelp uses the Poison-type move Sludge Bomb, a move that can leave opposing Pokémon poisoned. A poisoned Pokémon will slowly take damage over the length of a battle.

It was also revealed that Pokémon X and Pokémon Y are the first Pokémon titles that allow players the choice to play the game in one of seven languages: English, Japanese, Korean, French, Italian, German, or Spanish.

Wii-U.jpgCall of Duty Ghosts Logo Black
Third part support on Wii U has been lacking it seems, so it will come as fantastic news for Nintendo fans that one of the biggest games of the year will be on their favourite system.
Infinity Ward’s executive producer Mark Rubin confirmed the news during an event, as reported by Gamespot via CVG.
“That’s probably in the next-gen bin, but we’re not actually talking about Wii U yet. ‘Cause we want to keep it mysterious,” Rubin said before confirming that the game will launch alongside PS4 and Xbox One editions.

Sony Clarifies Stance on No DRM, Online Passes

0
Sony has once again clarified details surrounding its no DRM policy, as well as revealing that it’ll drop its own online pass system for PS4.
Speaking in a new interview, SCEE boss Jim Ryan told VG247 “Basically, what we’re saying is that there’s no change from current-gen to next-gen.”   That seems to count for the Online Pass system too, of which Ryan said, “Very much the way the tide is going on current-gen is that people are not pursuing the Online Pass thing. It’s being dropped.
“I mean, some publishers have gone bankrupt and others are dropping it. We’re dropping it ourselves. “It’s a diminishing phenomenon and I don’t see any reason why that should reverse itself.”

So there we go. No online pass, No DRM. Maybe the internet can move on now.

Microsoft Explains Points to Currency Changes

Microsoft will begin phasing out its MS Points system, switching it for real currency. A new Q&A published by Microsoft explains these changes, focusing on areas such as being able to use a single account across Microsoft stores on Windows Phone, Windows 8 and Xbox.

Everything is explained below so have a read.

Microsoft Points to Currency Q&A

What is changing?
We are excited to announce that as part of the fall 2013 update, Microsoft Points will be retired, and transactions will take place using local currency! The monetary value of your Microsoft account will be stored in local currency as well, offering you a new, convenient way to purchase exciting Xbox content. This change allows you to use a single Microsoft account to purchase games, movies, apps, and entertainment from your favourite Xbox stores and the Windows Phone Store!

How does this change affect me?
You will begin using local currency or an Xbox Gift Card (denominated in your local currency) to buy music, games, videos, and more from your favourite Xbox stores. When you use your existing Microsoft Points to initiate a purchase or redeem a Points card with your Microsoft account later this year, we’ll deposit into your account an amount of money equal to or greater than the marketplace value of your Microsoft Points, and your Microsoft Points will be retired. The purchased funds you deposit into your account after the transition will not expire. However, the funds we deposit into your account at the time of the transition will expire one year from the deposit date.

Is there anything I need to do?
As long as your account location is set to one of the following countries or regions (see the next question, below) and you have a billing address on file in your Microsoft account, there is nothing you need to do.

Which regions are affected by this change?
Microsoft Points will be retired in all countries/regions. Content previously available for purchase with Microsoft Points will soon be available for purchase with currency in the following places:
– Argentina France Mexico Spain
– Australia Germany Netherlands Sweden
– Austria Greece New Zealand Switzerland
– Belgium Hong Kong SAR Norway Taiwan
– Brazil Hungary Poland Turkey
– Canada India Portugal United Arab Emirates
– Chile Ireland Russia United Kingdom
– Columbia Israel Saudi Arabia United States
– Czech Republic Italy Singapore
– Denmark Japan Slovakia
– Finland Korea South Africa

How will you ensure that I will get a currency credit that is equivalent to what I paid for my Microsoft Points?
To make this a seamless and positive experience for our customers, we have considered many factors to ensure that the amount deposited in your Microsoft account will be of equal or greater marketplace value than your Microsoft Points.

Am I going to lose my Xbox LIVE Rewards?
No. Microsoft Points that you’ve earned through Xbox Live Rewards will remain in your Xbox account and will transition to your local currency with the rest of your Microsoft Points. Prior to the transition, all your earned Pending Points will be deposited into your account.

What will happen to Microsoft Points Cards?
Microsoft Points Cards will continue to be redeemable on your console and on Xbox.com throughout 2014 and for a limited time thereafter but will be discontinued after the launch of Xbox Gift Cards this fall. Please note that any funds we deposit into your account at the time of the transition will expire one year from the deposit date. Xbox Gift Cards, which will be denominated in your local currency, will be available for purchase in retail stores and through online retailers.

What if I have codes and/or Microsoft Points Cards that I haven’t redeemed?
Go ahead and redeem them! Even after your account transitions, we’ll still accept purchased Microsoft Points Cards and codes through 2014 and for a limited time thereafter, and we’ll credit you an amount of currency equal to or greater than the Marketplace value of those points as we phase out the Microsoft Points program.

Can I add funds to my Microsoft account online?
Yes! Xbox Gift Cards, which will be denominated in your local currency, can be added to your Microsoft account online. Xbox Gift Cards will be available for purchase through our online retailers’ websites and in local retail stores this fall. In the meantime, please continue to purchase and redeem Microsoft Points cards and codes – we’ll accept them through 2014 and for a limited time thereafter. Please note that any funds we deposit into your account at the time of the transition will expire one year from the deposit date.

Can I take funds out of my Microsoft account?
No. While you can’t get a cash payout of funds from your Microsoft account, you can use the funds in your account to buy a variety of Xbox content—from apps in the Windows Phone Store for your Windows Phone 8 to games in the Xbox Games Store.

Can I transfer funds from one Microsoft account to another?
No. Once your Microsoft account is funded, those funds can’t be transferred to another Microsoft account. Xbox Gift Cards make for great gifts and can be purchased in retail locations or through any of our online retailers’ websites.

Do I have to use the funds in my Microsoft account as my primary payment method?
No. Although your account will initially be set up with the currency in your Microsoft account as your payment method, you can still purchase content using another form of payment, including credit cards.

Can I split payment between an Xbox Gift Card or my Microsoft account and a credit card?
We do not offer a split payment option at this time. However, this option may be available in the future.

Which tax locale will be used in calculating my purchases?
We will not apply taxes when you purchase digital content using funds that we deposit into your account at the time of the transition. However, when you use funds that you deposit into your account after the transition (including from Xbox Gift Cards, which will not be subject to tax at purchase), all appropriate taxes will be applied to those purchases based on the ship-to address for your account.

Where can I use the funds in my Microsoft account?
At this time, your Microsoft account can be used to buy a variety Xbox content from your favourite Xbox stores, as well as content from the Windows Phone Store using your Windows Phone 8.

Can I buy an Xbox LIVE Gold Membership with an Xbox Gift Card or the funds in my Microsoft account?
At this time, Xbox Gift Cards can’t be used to buy an Xbox LIVE Gold Membership. However, this option may be available in the future.

Can I buy an Xbox Music Pass with an Xbox Gift Card?
At this time, Xbox Gift Cards can’t be used to buy an Xbox Music Pass. However, this option may be available in the future.

Can I use the funds in my Microsoft account to buy third-party content and subscriptions, such as Netflix, Vudu HD movies, HBO GO, or Hulu Plus?
No. Funds in your Microsoft account can’t be used to buy third-party content, such as TV programs, movies, games, and app subscriptions. However, you can purchase such content using another form of payment, including credit cards.

How do I change my account location?
You can move your Microsoft account from the region it’s associated with now to any other region up to one time every three months. However, the funds in your Microsoft account will not move with you, so be sure to spend your money before you change your account location!

Can I redeem currency from a different region in my account?
No. You can only redeem currency from the region associated with your account.
