Windows Home Server is a year old

Now that Windows Home Server is a year old, and has been released in over 50 countries, Microsoft have reduced the cost of the software by 30%. So, if you don’t have Windows Home Server yet, and you have some spare hardware sitting around, there has never been a better time to buy the software and try WHS. Remember though, Windows Home Server software is not available to buy in normal retail channels, and so you will need to buy it from a System Builder as OEM softare. Just do a search using your favourite search engine to find a local system builder channel.

Critical Windows Security Patch Released

Yesterday Microsoft released a critical Windows security patch outside of their normal “patch Tuesday” schedule. This one is important as it patches a vulnerability that has been exploited in the wild. If you have automatic updates turned on then you should have it already, if not, download it and install it now. It affects all versions of Windows.

You can read more about it here: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms08-067.mspx
