IO Interactive A/S, a Square Enix studio, today announced the launch of HITMAN ABSOLUTION : FULL DISCLOSURE, an iOS app which presents an uncut retrospective of the award-winning and critically acclaimed HITMAN: ABSOLUTION as told by the people closest to its development.
HITMAN ABSOLUTION: FULL DISCLOSURE shows a side of game development that is rarely seen in such uncompromising and unrestricted detail. The app shines a light on more than 250 images and 25 videos that show the discarded concepts, abandoned ideas, early prototype videos and creative exploration that helped to craft HITMAN: ABSOLUTION. The majority of the content has never been seen outside of IO Interactive and is taken directly from the production folders by the development team, who provide an on-going narrative for each of the 40 individual sections.

“We’re coming full circle here by going back to some of the very earliest ideas and concepts that came out of our explorations and I’m really happy that we get to show this content,” said Tore Blystad, Game Director on HITMAN: ABSOLUTION. “We made a conscious decision to dig out a wide selection of things from the data vaults and I think fans will get a real treat here.”
The app is available for Apple iPad through the Apple App Store and costs $1.99 / £1.19 / €1.59.

As soon as IO Interactive said “From the very beginning there was a strong desire to drive the gameplay forward with an emotional story” i knew Absolution was going to be bad. Hitman has always been gameplay OVER story, not story over gameplay. Us Hitman fans want to be dropped into 12 to 15 big open world sanbox levels and be left alone to do as we wish. This is what made previous Hitmans (especially Blood Money) so great. It seems that IO Interactive are hell bent on making some kind of action movie. They tried and failed twice with Kane & Lynch 1 and 2, they thought they would try with Hitman. IO Interactive should stop making games and start making movies instead, their in the wrong game. Take note of recent games that have done exceptionally well recently, Far Cry 3, Assassins Creed 3, GTAV etc etc. Now look and see what all these games have in common…..all are big open worlds where you are dropped in to do as you please. When i play a game i want to play a game, when i want to watch a movie i’ll go to the cinema or put a DVD on. So please take Hitman back to gameplay over story. Before Hitman Absolution there was NOTHING out there like the Hitman franchise. Then they turned Hitman Absolution into Splintercell with Agent 47 in it. Now Splintercell fans have lots to play, while us Hitman fans have nothing! Keep Hitman Hitman!
