Here is our review of the MANGOAL 4K STARVIS 2 Dash Cam (GPS Included).

Keep an eye on the road ahead and behind with the MANGOAL 4K STARVIS 2 Dash Cam. Built around Sony’s flagship STARVIS 2 IMX678 sensor, it records the road in front in sharp 4K 2160P at 30fps, while the dual-channel version adds an IMX675 rear camera recording in 2K 1440P.

Night driving is covered too thanks to HDR 2.0 and a wide F/1.5 aperture, which balance bright headlights against dark roads so you can still pick out number plates when it matters. A 3-axis G-sensor automatically locks footage in the event of a collision, and loop recording keeps everything running without you ever having to clear the card.

With GPS included, 5.8GHz Wi-Fi for fast app control, 24/7 parking monitoring and support for microSD cards up to 512GB, the MANGOAL tucks neatly behind your rear-view mirror and looks like it came with the car.

What’s in the box?

The box contains the Dash Cam, GPS Module, Power Harness, microSD Card, Trim Tool, Cable Ties, CPL Filter and a User Manual. If you go for the dual-channel version you also get the Rear Camera and a Rear Camera Cable.

Final Thoughts

The first thing you notice about the MANGOAL is that it doesn’t look like an aftermarket dash cam at all. It sits behind the rear-view mirror of the car and blends in really well, almost as if it came straight from the factory.

Installation is fairly straightforward. The power harness connects directly to the car so there’s no messy wiring hanging around and no need to rewire anything, and MANGOAL even includes a trim tool and cable ties to help tidy things up. If you want to use parking mode though, you will need to buy either the OBD Cable or the Fuse Box Power Adapter separately.

Getting the camera set up is really simple and quick. You connect to it over 5.8GHz Wi-Fi using the MANGOAL App and from there you can change settings, see a live preview and download clips straight to your phone – and because it uses 5.8GHz, transfers are much quicker than on older 2.4GHz models.

The video quality is excellent. Footage from the 4K front camera is really sharp during the day and number plates on the cars ahead are easy to read. At night the HDR 2.0 does a great job of taming headlight glare and the footage is a lot cleaner than you might expect.

The GPS module records your location, speed and route alongside the video (it supports GPS, BeiDou, Galileo and GLONASS), which could be really useful if you ever need to prove where you were and how fast you were going. Just be aware that the map view is only available when you play footage back.

The G-sensor automatically locks footage if it detects a collision so it won’t be overwritten by the loop recording. Don’t worry about leaving the car either, as the parking monitor keeps watch while you are away and the battery protection means you shouldn’t come back to a flat battery.

It also comes with a 24-month warranty, which gives you that little bit of extra peace of mind.

MANGOAL have various kits available depending on what car you have – if they dont have your specific car then you can get a universal one, but if you are in any doubt, reach out to them and they will help!

The MANGOAL 4K STARVIS 2 Dash Cam (GPS Included) is available now priced from around $259.99 for the front-only version with a 64GB card, and is also available as a front and rear version with a 128GB card. Our readers can also get an additional 12% off using the code MGT12.
