The KontrolFreek Thumbsticks are a colourful and useful addition for console or PC gamers. Furthermore, this awesome company designs and manufactures other handy control accessories. However, I’m looking at 3 variants of the same product today. I have been sent the Galaxy FPS, Lotus Action Adventure, and Clutch Sport Edition Thumbsticks for Xbox gamepads.

These vibrant caps are robust, comfortable, and easy to install. Additionally, they give you a match-winning edge as you can improve your accuracy and reactions. Alongside this, there are different styles to buy and some eye-catching variations if that is your thing. Though the thumbcaps were more understated, I liked the colours and the textured surface.

Technical aspects.

Improving your skills takes time, effort, and a whole heap of patience. Moreover, it doesn’t hurt to invest in a premium controller. I’ve looked at The Stealth Ultra Wireless controller from Turtle Beach and plenty of PowerA products. Each of these excellent items has mappable buttons and responsive inputs. However, they instantly improved when I added the KontrolFreek Thumbsticks. Depending on my needs, I can clip each cap to my controller and adjust my setup accordingly.

The Galaxy edition improves precision, aim, and movement. The Lotus version focuses on your aim, movement, and grip. Finally, the Clutch variant edges towards movement, grip, and comfort. Alongside this, each set has a slightly different profile and height to complement the end goal. Though the changes were subtle, there is a noticeable difference. I was impressed by the Clutch option, as the grip was comfortable, smooth, and perfect for lengthy gaming sessions. The Galaxy edition, on the other hand, had a high-rise profile that felt alien and tough to get used to. Yet, if you prefer an increased range of movement, then this could be the option for you.

Build quality.

The KontrolFreek Thumbsticks are well-built. The textured surfaces look fantastic and the colour rarely fades. Though I played with each set repeatedly, the clasps never lost their rigidity, and they gripped each thumbstick with ease. Alongside this, I noticed no unfortunate wear and tear during lengthy sessions. This is impressive, as the official controllers suffer from this issue.

I have yet to look at the more elaborately designed thumbcaps. However, I’m sure the grippy design and impressive colours will feel and look great. Moreover, the ability to remove the covers with ease will impress the harshest of critics. I loved the clear differences in design quality and each edition performed as expected.

The low and mid-rise variants felt more pleasant to use. Though the reduction in movement may disappoint some gamers, I liked the old-school design. Yet, with three options to pick from, you are bound to find the right one for your needs.

Are the KontrolFreek Thumbsticks worth it?

Though the KontrolFreek Thumbsticks aren’t essential, they enhance your gaming experience. I loved the build quality and the different profiles. Furthermore, the unique designs will catch your eye and impress you. Accordingly, I loved each edition and I recommend buying them here!
