In expected and sad news, the organisers of Star Wars Celebration, the annual event that celebrates all things STAR WARS has had to be cancelled due to the current COVID-19 pandemic across the world, joining the ever growing list of events impacted by current world events.
“In a statement released on STARWARS.com:
To our Star Wars Celebration fans and friends,
At Star Wars Celebration, the health and safety of our fans, attendees, exhibitors, guests and staff is always our number one priority. Due to the global impact of the COVID-19 virus and in speaking with local and state authorities on the latest public health guidelines related to indoor conventions, we have made the decision to cancel Star Wars Celebration for 2020.
While this news is disappointing, we are happy to announce that Star Wars Celebration will return to the Anaheim Convention Center on August 18-21, 2022.”
The statement also confirms that their plan is to return to hold Star Wars Celebration in 2022, so a two year break but it will return to Anaheim in August that year but Star Wars will have a presence as always at the D23 Expo in 2021.
The statement also has advice and information for anyone who purchased tickets and pre-ordered the limited edition merchandise that you can only purchase at Star Wars Celebration.
