To mark the launch of PlayStation4’s exclusive title, inFAMOUS: SECOND SON, out tomorrow (21st March) intrepid free running team 3RUN have taken part in an epic challenge to recreate scenes from the eagerly anticipated game in real life across London’s cityscape.
To bring to life the neon powers of lead character, Delsin Rowe, the talented team of free runners completed a daredevil routine in complete darkness wearing custom made neon suits, delivering a stunning performance that mirrored the gameplay with amazing accuracy.
The stunt marked the first time the team had ever performed in the dark, from rooftops at dizzying heights of over 100ft, and the first time that a neon-effect free running performance has been completed in the UK.
Passers-by were treated to an electric display of colour as the team traversed iconic London landmarks including Millennium Bridge, Westminster Bridge and the London Eye at break-neck speeds.
The neon suits took six weeks to create and hundreds of tiny lights were hand-stitched onto them in order to capture the neon visual effects of the game as closely as possible.
Each suit was specially created to enable the team to free run with ease, while also creating a strobing light effect.
Chase Armitage, chief free runner and founder of 3RUN, comments: “We have travelled the world with our free running projects but have never put our skills to the test in the dark before, so when PlayStation set us the challenge we jumped at the chance! Through the use of specially created neon suits, we were able to bring a whole new element of free running to life, which certainly stopped passers-by, who were amazed by the strobing light effects.”
Fergal Gara, PlayStation vice president and managing director for UK and Ireland comments: “As our latest exclusive game launch on PS4, we wanted to mark the launch of inFAMOUS: SECOND SON in a very memorable way. We loved the idea of bringing Delsin Rowe into the real world and were amazed with how well the 3RUN team were able to recreate the game play with their neon routine.”
