Nike is reportedly working on a second-generation iteration of its Nike+ FuelBand fitness accessory. The new wristband will include a heart monitor, Bluetooth 4.0 support and faster LEDs for a more responsive interface, according to Gear Live.

Developers will allegedly be able to integrate real-time accelerometer data from the device into their apps, potentially paving the way for motion-control features.

Nike is also said to be working on an Android FuelBand application, despite downplaying such reports in the past.

The Nike+ FuelBand faces competition from the recently-released Fitbit Flex wristband, and the Jawbone UP fitness band and its companion apps.

Nike is yet to officially announced a second-generation model of the Nike+ FuelBand.
