Today at IFA Toshiba presented the Satellite U940 as a new member of its Ultrabook range, and yes it’s running Windows 8.

This sleek and elegant silver-coloured model is a good choice for those who are searching for a portable yet powerful Ultrabook but also value a display that measures 35.6cm (14.0’’) in diagonal.

The high-performance Satellite U940 has the latest CPUs and graphics for Ultrabooks on board. It will be available in the fourth quarter of 2012 in Europe.

Usability and power on the go
Due to the power of the third generation Intel processors for Ultrabooks and dedicated graphics, the Satellite U940 provides a smooth HD multimedia experience on its 35.6cm (14.0’’) display. It also allows for playing graphic-focussed games and handles advanced office applications. The slim chassis accommodates powerful stereo speakers enhanced by SRS Premium Sound 3D for a rich sound experience. The new Toshiba Ultrabook comes with either a fast, silent and highly shock resistant SSD of up to 256GB or with a HDD of up to 1TB, which is supported by a 32GB SSD for fast responsiveness and quick boot time.

Wide selection of ports and interfaces
Although it is only 20.9mm thick, the Satellite U940 has a wide selection of full-size ports and interfaces on board; amongst them HDMI, Ethernet LAN, and two USB 3.0. One USB 3.0 features Sleep-and-Charge support to charge smartphones or MP3 players while the laptop is turned off. High-speed wireless connectivity including WLAN, Bluetooth and Intel Wireless Display leaves nothing to be desired.

Elegant and slim looks
The Satellite U940’s considerable feature set is packed into a sleek, elegant and yet durable silver-coloured casing featuring a mix of textured finishes. The Satellite U940’s weight starts at just 1.7kg depending on configuration.
