I have this camera pointed at my front door right now.  Click on Administration and we’ll take a tour of the configuration capabilities.  You land at Status where you can see the MAC address and IP assigned by your router, firmware revision and status of your network connection.

Click on Video to see how the video settings are configured.  We’ll change them in Configuration.  Ditto with the audio settings, which I won’t show you here.

Skip down to the Network settings.  I manually set the DNS servers on the camera to ensure that the camera can see my DNS service.  Until I did that, the camera was not able to be seen from outside my network.  I have no idea why, but suggest that you set the DNS servers manually if you are having those issues.  Here is how.  Click on Configuration and then on Network.

I selected Fixed IP and then gave it the IP to use (192.168.1.231), the subnet mask to use, the address for my router and then configuration for the Dynamic DNS host to use to keep my ever-changing IP address reachable from a URL.  I also selected an HTTP port (1025) to forward traffic from my router to the camera and enabled the UPnP options.  Click Save.

Make sure that you specify those DNS server addresses.  I did not do that at first and the camera was not reachable on the internet.  Once I did, it worked like a charm every time.

  1. I recently bought the same camera for use as a baby monitor and couldn’t be happier with it. Completely agree with the reviewer’s assessment. My only complaint with the camera is that audio doesn’t work over wireless, which is apparently fairly common according to Google. Everything works perfectly over a wired connection, though.
