Being able to buy and download TV shows is nothing new – although it is new to PlayStation 3 owners, and now it’s here!
When you now go into the PlayStation Store and choose Video there is a TV option.
You can then search of TV shows by name or by type of show, then drill down into what show you want, and then what episode you want. You can even pick SD (Standard Definition) or HD (High Definition) where available.
Prices start at £1.89 per episode (which for old content seems a bit steep to me). For example, if I wanted to watch all of season 1 of 24, it would cost me £45.36, where as today on Amazon I could buy the season 1 DVD boxset (including extras) for £17.99 and I wouldn’t have to wait ages for it to download.
Also, the available seasons of shows seems a little odd. For example, you can download Seasons 1 and 8 of 24 (not seasons 2-7) and only season 4 of the Unit.
I assume over time this will change, but for right now it doesn’t quite seem worth it.
