We have told you about the HP Proliant MicroServer in the past and how it makes a great Windows Home Server 2011 box. Well now HP have said that they officially support WHS 2011 running on it – good news for sure!
This is what now appears on the HP site:
Have you got a MicroServer? What do you think of it?
i have one of these, and installed whs 2011 pretty easily. the only part i had problems with was setting up remote web access… rather than using my own domain, the microsoft served option at xxx.homeserver.com finally worked.
before installing the OS, i upgraded to 4gb ram and added a dvd drive and 2 2tb wd green drives with hardware raid1. total cost about $750. it seems to have plenty of speed for my purposes: subsonic, windows live mesh, ftp server and automatic daily backups of all my networked computers. overall i am very happy with my little server.
