Earlier in the year we told you about Viridian PC launching a WHS 2011 box. Now we have yet to actually get our hands on one, but Viridian PC have today announced two new models – the VS-5HC and the VS-5HA.

Both the VS-5HC and the VS-5HA can come with either Windows Home Server 2011 or Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials.

    • Hi Jim, thanks for your comment. We’re currently offering our Sandy Bridge systems with the following processors :

      Pentium G620T
      Core i3 2100T
      Core i5 2500T
      Core i7 2600S
      Xeon E3-1260L

The upgrade to a Core i3 doesn’t add a great deal to the overall price and we would recommend it to anyone wanting to use the transcoding features. The Pentium is a nice midpoint for those who want more muscle than an Atom, but aren’t likely to use video transcoding (like me, I use my server to share files with my HTPCs, no transcoding required)
