Here are the unboxing photos. First, the 1100:
Since I have a PlayStation 3 that is used as a BluRay player, I also bought a PS3 adaptor:
The 1100 comes with the remote, a charging cradle, and cables:
And finally the PS3 adaptor:
Installation is not that hard. First, charge the battery for the remote. Second, load the software onto a Mac (OS X 10.4 or 10.5) or a Windows (XP, Vista, or Windows 7) machine. Third, tell the software what components that you have that you want to control. Fourth, transfer the commands and settings from the computer to the remote. Fifth, troubleshoot. The manual states that the installation should take 30 minutes. My system took about 3 hours to set up.
So far the pros are:
- Complete database with every component in my system listed;
- PS3 support (replaces the BD remote);
- Small size;
- Touch screen;
- Easy one-touch control of the whole home entertainment system; and,
- Rechargeable battery.
The cons:
- Long setup time;
- AppleTV support was difficult to configure;
- The unit sometimes fails to turn off all components properly.
I’ll have a full review soon. And Happy Mother’s Day, Laura!
