A new Add-In for Windows Home Server 2011 and WHS v1 was released today that will allow you to record TV on your WHS and then stream to your client PCs.
TV4Home – The all-in-one TV solution!
“TV4Home installs MediaPortal TV Server on your Windows Home Server. You can then record your favorite TV shows or stream Live-TV to network clients.
The installation procedure is based on easy to use wizards, which means you can get your TV Server up and running in a couple of minutes! The Add-In is available for the original Windows Home Server, as well as for the new version Windows Home Server 2011 (Vail).
It integrates into the WHS Console or the WHS2011 Dashboard and provides an overview of the current TV Server status. With the Web-Interface you can schedule recordings by using the EPG (Electronic Program Guide) from any Internet-connected PC.
Simply visit your WHS Remote Access Website and click on the TV4Home link.”

I tried installing TV4Home and get a message box indicating “Your platform is not supported by MediaPortal Team because it lacks critical hot fixes!”. It suggests looking at the Wiki, but I haven’t discovered what is missing.
That message is ok and is mentioned by the publisher. You can continue on with the installation. You will see that message each time you open the MediaPortal app.
Tim–
Are you looking at how well this plays with HDHomeRuns on the network?
Jim
I got this installed on my EX490. My setup is a bit different, I used an existing SQL 2005 install since I have MyMoves running. This needed a bit more after indtsll tweaking with permission to work,
I have a HDHomeRun. The tuners showed up but I was not able to get the channel lineup visable in the addin. The channels do show up in the HD HomeRun app.
I have the add-in set up on both 2011 and v1 but cannot get mediaportal to see channels. The question is whether the error/issues are with the add-in or with mediaportal on a server. My SD software sees channels on both servers without any issues.
Tim,
Are you using your cable card on your HTPC or did you install the cable cards in the server?
Using 6 SD HRs. Mediaportal sees the tuners but does not get channels. Working with the developer to see what the issue is.
