So I guess I have 13 days before Vail expires? Could you wait a little longer? I will be at CES 2011 in 13 days. Is it just my system or are you mad at me Microsoft?

Maybe try changing the date on the server to trick it, don't know if that will buy you more time or not, but its worth a try.
"a lot to move" ? 😉 1 TB ???
my server holds 13 tb, that was a lot to move.
since microsoft kicked drive extender i use AMAHI (Linux) for my server. it has Greyhole, what is nearly the same like drive-extender.
for my opinion: vail will be a stillbirth.
wow 13 TB – you were brave with an early beta!!!!
There is no new beta version of Vail coming? This is the end of the beta program?
Microsoft have said that there will be more news on further betas during January. Watch this space…..
Will it lock up in 13 days? Will I have a gap between versions? These are all questions I hope to find answers to.
In fairness, it was a beta – I guess this was expected.
While I'm usually ahead of the curve on everything technology related, the one exception is storage servers. I'm notoriously conservative, to the point that I was running a .6 branch of FreeNAS while .72 was out.
Since Vail is dead, I'm experimenting with Amahi now with 4TB or so of "junk" data – mostly DVD ISOs I have anyway in physical form – trying to find its limits and break it … just preparing for the day the main WHS box dies.
I saw the expiration date of 01/10/11 when I went to install the beta (finally). So, I guess I go backwards until the next release, though lacking DE, I hope they have another solution.
