The back of the case as the usual power supply point, rear fan and at the moment an empty space for the motherboard. Due to minor damage during transit the bottom of the case is slightly bent, but that is not what you would usually expect. Vidabox offered to send me a replacement case for the review but the damage was very minor so I stuck with the one they sent.
To gain access to the insides of the case you just unscrew one screw on either side, and the panels are then easily removed.
There is room inside the the Mini-ITX motherboard (obviously) and also for an internal hard drive as well. So you could use that as your system drive and the two removable bays can be your data drives.
Moving back to the outside of the case, the side has 2 USB 2.0 ports, headphones, mic and a power button, all of which are easily accessible but also out of the way of view if you want to have this case in your living room.
Final Thoughts
I really like the CubeCase, a lot! Everything you need apart from the drives, the motherboard and CPU is provided, so you dont have to find anything else. And it looks really good – the pictures really do not do it justice at all!
Fitting a Mini-ATX motherboard and wiring everything up was relatively painless – thankfully both sides came off to give better access, so good thinking there on the part of Vidabox.
Because there are three fans the case isn’t silent, but then I wasn’t expecting it to be. If you are planning on using it as an HPTC and want it in your living room, you could consider changing the fans for quieter ones or disabling one or more of the fans, but do that at your own risk and also take into consideration how many hard drives you will have in there before you do that!
So if you are planning on building your own box, then you really should take a look at the CubeCase.
The CubeCase from Vidabox is available now for $99.99 and can be ordered from the Vidabox website.
