ADDING A DRIVE
Adding a drive is very simple – the drive bays are at the rear of the unit, and just open up with a press. Then just slide out the drive bay, fit the drive with the screws and then slot it back it – simple!
USING THE DS710+
Once the drives are in place and the cables connected, all you have to do is power up and put the software disc in your computer.
You also see configuration information and status information.
Once the DS710+ is configured, you can sign into the DiskStation Manager.
And you can also see more information on your system:
Like the previous review we did, the software enables you to use various capabilities, depending on what you want and need.
FINAL THOUGHTS
The DS710+ comes with the latest 2.3 firmware, which means you don’t have to perform an update to get the latest version (at the time of writing).
The DS710+ is relatively quiet, and sits on your desk, or wherever you put it and can just be left alone.
Price wise, here in the UK, the cost is just under £400 (without drives) and in the US it is under $600 (again, without drives).
This is quite a good price point for all the features, but remember you need to buy some drives!
Overall I liked the device, it did everything I wanted it to do with very little effort, so if you want a NAS with additional features, for a pretty good price, take a look at the DS710+ and see if it is for you.
