USING THE IX4

Using the ix4 is pretty straightforward, you just need to select whatever it is you want to do from the various menu options. There are lots of different selections available, here are just a few:

FINAL THOUGHTS

So, did I like the ix4? The answer is yes, I did. It was fairly simple to set up, and fairly simple to use. Perhaps novice users might be put off by the number of possible choices and options and features available, but that’s not really a complaint, is it?

I would say that my only real complaint is the price. Here in the UK, the 4TB model will set you back a whopping £920, although a quick search on Google found it a fair bit cheaper than that. Amazon.com are showing it as $734 (so certainly a massive price difference between here and the US, as usual).

Now, to be honest, you could get yourself a really good Windows Home Server for that, and buy a few 2TB drives and still have some change, but not everyone wants a Windows Home Server.

Do you have one of these? If so, tell us what you think.

  1. Yes its odd isn't it? it's as bulky as 4 hard drives…

    note that:

Surveillance camera option with just 1 axis camera would not work for me.

Seems pretty slow to me, i'm lucky to get 30MB/sec but its worlds faster than the Buffalo linkstation quad 4.0 I tried before it.

    Lots of options in software.

    No free DDNS.

  2. Hi There,

Not sure if you ever used this device to take backups with Retrospect Express HD 2.5 (comes with this box). There is no way you can restore the backups on another machine that means if ur machine is down or stolen. YOU CAN NOT RESTORE YOUR DATA. and i can assure of no support.

    Regards,

    Rishi
