WHATS IN THE BOX?
Apart from the ix4 itself, there is also a power supply, a software disc, Ethernet cable and some manuals.
OPENING UP THE IX4
To access the drive bay you need to undo some screws and lift of the top. Then the drive bays are easily accessible and you just need to pull a drive out. No real effort needed here.
STARTING UP THE IX4
Connecting up the ix4 only took a few moments and then it was just a case of pressing the power button and popping the software disc into your computer.
Then all you need to do is follow the on-screen instructions. For those of you who like screenshots, here there are:

yeah, its pretty bulky, but you can put it somewhere out of the way 🙂

Yes its odd isn't it? it's as bulky as 4 hard drives…
note that:
Surveillance camera option with just 1 axis camera would not work for me.
Seems pretty slow to me, i'm lucky to get 30MB/sec but its worlds faster than the Buffalo linkstation quad 4.0 I tried before it.
Lots of options in software.
No free DDNS.

Not sure if you ever used this device to take backups with Retrospect Express HD 2.5 (comes with this box). There is no way you can restore the backups on another machine that means if ur machine is down or stolen. YOU CAN NOT RESTORE YOUR DATA. and i can assure of no support.
