EXCLUSIVE Battlefield 4 interview with Karl-Magnus Troedsson from DICE at E3 2013
DICE, a studio of Electronic Arts demonstrated the next generation of Battlefield 4 at E3 last week, and after the demo we had the chance to talk to them about it.
DICE showcased “Angry Sea,” a stunning single-player demo at the Microsoft media briefing, “Xbox: A New Generation of Games Revealed.” DICE also debuted “Siege of Shanghai,” a spectacular 64-person multiplayer match at “The Download: EA 2013 Preview” press conference. Both software demos were running at a silky smooth 60-frames per second, even while rendering massive maps, vehicles and infantry, environmental effects and dynamic destruction.
Over to Karl-Magnus Troedsson who is the General Manager of DICE:
DICE also revealed two notable innovations in multiplayer: a game-changer called Levolution, and the return of the fan-favorite Commander Mode. Levolution creates a dynamic and emergent battlefield where gamers can use the environment to their advantage like cutting the power to a building to shroud their enemy in darkness or reducing an entire skyscraper to rubble to alter the battlefield. With Levolution, the environment reacts to the player’s every move and ensures no two games will ever be the same. Commander Mode places two opposing players at the heart of the situation room with a birds-eye view of the battlefield. It’s a tug-of-war match between two commanders as they deliver critical intelligence and powerful assets to their troops below to the turn the tide of the battle. Gamers will feel the rush of Commander Mode on current-generation and next-generation consoles as well as PC. For the first time, commanders can also take control from their iPad or Android tablet.
DICE also announced in celebration of the unveiling of Battlefield 4 multiplayer and to thank the millions of fans that have logged over one billion gameplay hours in Battlefield 3, DICE is giving away Battlefield 3: Close Quarters digital expansion pack to all Battlefield 3 players for free. For more details on how to download the pack, please visit: http://www.battlefield.com/battlefield-4/cq-giveaway.
Battlefield 4 will be available November 1 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Battlefield 4 will also be available for Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

Gears of War: Judgment Lost Relics Map Pack out now for VIP members
Microsoft and Epic Studios have now released the third expansion in the “Gears of War: Judgment” multiplayer experience, the Lost Relics Map Pack for VIP members.
This DLC includes four new maps, new weapon and armor skins, as well as the new mode Breakthrough. Read up on all the new maps and study the flythrough videos below to get the competitive edge over your enemies.
CHECKOUT – Checkout’s combat takes place in the carcass of an abandoned superstore. The shop owners tried to move inventory with a closeout sale in the weeks leading up to the HOD evacuations, but ultimately had to walk away and leave everything to time and history. The intense close-quarters combat of the store aisles makes every decision important. Weapon selection is key, cover is essential to survival and every move has an impact. When facing your enemy, remember what the sign says: “Everything must go.”
LOST CITY – The ruins of this ancient city were once a major archeological find . Despite sitting empty for centuries, the hydro-powered aqueduct and canal systems were still in working order and proved that the ancient Serans had a remarkable grasp of engineering and architecture. Like so many projects, excavation was abruptly halted when the Locust emerged and changed the face of the planet. Now every Seran city sits as empty and lost as this one.
MUSEUM – Situated on the bay just outside the city capitol, The Ilima Museum of Natural History features an array of permanent exhibits, special programs, and educational opportunities for visitors of all ages. With over a million artifacts and specimens in our collection, you can explore the wonders of the natural world at your own pace, or take part in one of our special hands-on workshops. Tickets are on sale now for our latest special showing: The Ages of Seran Military Might. Get up close and personal with ancient swords of mystical power and see some of the first working mechanical weaponry of our storied past.
WARD – The battle for Halvo Bay was fought on many fronts simultaneously. While most areas of the city fell quickly, a few sections actually had time to mount a defense and fortify against the incoming Horde. Some were even able to push the Locust forces back and regain some ground before all was lost. This Overrun map features one such area where the battle was small but intense, and the dedicated forces of the COG army tried to hold off wave after wave of invading forces with little in the way of reinforcements. They pushed the Locust back several blocks before resistance increased and ultimately they found themselves in a fierce tug of war with little hope of success.
We recently interviewed Jim Brown from Epic Games. We talked about old characters and new, new modes, cosplay and we even have new gameplay footage to share. Here is that interview:

Call of Duty : Black Ops 2 Vengeance DLC preview video

Get your first look at “Vengeance,” the third DLC Map Pack available for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II Vengeance is available first, exclusively on the Xbox Live online entertainment network from Microsoft beginning 2nd July. Vengeance, the game’s third epic Downloadable Content (DLC) Pack from Activision and its award-winning studio Treyarch, takes players to four diverse locations around the globe, including a deserted tropical island, a destroyed suspension bridge, an abandoned paintball course and the jungles of Myanmar. Vengeance also serves up a new addition to the game’s esteemed Zombies experience with “Buried,” where the undead residents of an abandoned subterranean Old West mining town have come back to claim their home.
“When it’s difficult to see the line between playtesting and leisurely gaming around the studio, it’s a sure sign that we’ve created something fun with Vengeance,” said Mark Lamia, Studio Head of Treyarch. “From the four multiplayer maps to our new Zombies experience, “Buried,” Vengeance continues doing what we set out to accomplish from the very beginning of development on Call of Duty: Black Ops II: pushing the boundaries of fans’ expectations.”
Call of Duty: Black Ops II Vengeance delivers four new, diverse multiplayer maps starting with “Cove,” where the stage is set for all-out conflict on this small, forgotten island in the middle of the Indian Ocean, with players battling it out amongst the wreckage of a jet that crash-landed during a smuggling operation gone wrong. Next up is “Detour,” a destroyed suspension bridge, high above an East Coast waterway, packed with scattered vehicles, exposed iron and collapsed pavement where the head-to-head action will play out on multiple levels. The third map, “Rush,” sets the stage for fast, close-quarters engagements in this paintball course turned full-combat arena, giving players new opportunities and challenges to use the cover to their advantage. Rounding out Vengeance’s multiplayer maps is “Uplink.” In this re-imagined adaptation of the fan-favorite multiplayer map “Summit” from the original Call of Duty®: Black Ops, players clash deep in the rain-soaked jungles of Myanmar, high atop a hi-tech mountain facility.
Treyarch yet again expands the Zombies storyworld in new, mind-bending ways with “Buried.” Players meet up with old characters and will encounter new ones as they face off against the undead residents of an abandoned underground Old West mining town. A healthy arsenal of equipment and weapons that will be at players’ disposal, but with one very special addition – something so powerful it will also appear in all other Call of Duty: Black Ops II Zombies maps (with the purchase of Vengeance DLC): the Ray Gun Mark II.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II Vengeance will be available first, exclusively on Xbox Live for Xbox 360 for 1200 Microsoft Points on 2nd July, with other platforms to follow.
