Meet the Voice Overs stars of The Evil Within

0

Bethesda Softworks has today revealed the talented cast lending their voices to The Evil Within, a survival horror game developed at Tango Gameworks under the direction of legendary game designer and studio head, Shinji Mikami. The Evil Within cast includes Academy Award nominee Jackie Earle Haley (“Lincoln,” “Watchmen,” “A Nightmare on Elm Street”), Screen Actors Guild Award nominee Jennifer Carpenter (“Dexter,” “Quarantine,” “The Exorcism of Emily Rose”), and film and television star Anson Mount (“Hell on Wheels,” “Safe”).

The Evil Within, out October 17th in Europe, embodies the meaning of pure survival horror.Highly-crafted environments, horrifying anxiety, and an intricate story are combined to create an immersive world that will bring players to the height of tension. With limited resources at their disposal, players will fight for survival and experience profound fear in this perfect blend of horror and action.

Academy Award nominee Jackie Earle Haley, who is no stranger to horror, having recently played Freddy Krueger in the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, lends his voice to The Evil Within’s main antagonist, Ruvik.  Making his video game debut, Anson Mount, best known for his role as Cullen Bohannon in AMC’s Hell on Wheels, assumes the role of lead protagonist Sebastian Castellanos. Players assume the role of Sebastian, a veteran police detective, throughout the game in their terrifying struggle for survival.

Rounding off the cast is Jennifer Carpenter, well-known for her role as Debra Morgan in the hit Showtime series Dexter, who plays Juli Kidman, Sebastian’s Junior Detective partner. As part of recently announced Season Pass plans, players will be able to assume the role of Juli Kidman in post-launch content to experience The Evil Within from an entirely new perspective.   “One of the most crucial elements to any successful survival horror game is the setting and sound, which includes the depth and authenticity of the voice acting,” said Mikami. “We brought together a great cast of experienced actors to help ensure that players really believe our characters’ emotions and the tension they feel in every scene.”

In The Evil Within, Detective Sebastian Castellanos and his partners are called in to investigate a gruesome mass murder. After seeing the slaughter of fellow officers, Sebastian is ambushed and knocked unconscious. When he awakens, he finds himself in a deranged world where hideous creatures wander among the dead. Facing unimaginable terror, and fighting for survival, Sebastian embarks on a frightening journey to unravel what’s behind this evil force.

Slated for release on 16th October in Australia and 17th October across Europe, The Evil Within is in development for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC.

The zombie apocalypse has hit the iconic, sunny realms of California. Building on the strengths of the multi-million best-selling hit Dead Island, Dead Island 2 delivers a shared survival, open-world zombie experience set in a clash of natural beauty and bloody horror and violence: paradise meets hell once again! Developed by award-winning studio Yager, Dead Island 2 is scheduled for release in spring 2015 on Xbox One, PlayStation4 and PC.

Several months after the events on Banoi, the United States  military has put the Golden State under full quarantine. Now a restricted zone, California has become a bloody paradise for those who refuse to leave their homes and an action-packed playground for renegades who seek adventure, glory and a fresh start. Combining the classic Dead Island elements of immersive close combat, action and role-playing, Dead Island 2 features crazy, never-before-seen handcrafted weapons and over-the-top characters in taking players from the iconic Golden Gate to the celebrated beachfront boardwalk of southern California’s Venice Beach.

Exclusive interview with Bedlam author Christopher Brookmyre and Nick Witcher at Gamescom

0

At Gamescom, I sat down with Christopher Brookmyre and Nick Witcher to talk about Bedlam.

bedlam_a2_poster_capped_notxt_thumb_

Bedlam is adapted from the novel by Christopher Brookmyre, but diverges from the original in this change of protagonist. The novel’s hero, Ross Baker, does feature prominently in the game, but the switch to a female lead – who is a gamer and sci-fi fan – offered a fresh and bitingly humorous new perspective upon the “gameverse” that the player will explore.

Over to Chris and Nick (and there’s some new gameplay in there too):

Bedlam will be released on PC later this year.
