E3: Get ready for Dishonored 2

0

During today’s Bethesda E3 conference, Bethesda Software announced an upcoming sequel to Dishonored. The empire of the Isles is in danger once more by a userper. You travel to Cornaca to assassinate targets, and you can switch between playing as Emily Kaldwin (who is supposed to be Empress by now) or Corvo.

Emily_Trailer_Still_1434319206

Not only does it look like Emily has the same agility as Corvo, but she bears the mark that grants her special powers. As in the previous Dishonored game, players can choose to either kill everyone in sight, or not to kill anyone – usually dooming targets to a fate worse than death. It remains to be seen what leads Emily to take up the path of the supernatural assassin.

Dishonored 2 is being developed for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

E3 : Doom coming to PC/PS4/Xbox One spring 2016

0

Today Bethesda Softworks and iD Software announced they’d be revealing Doom during its first ever E3 press conference, which has been in production since 2008. Since then, its been in developmental limbo at iD Software, but today, we were treated to a gameplay demo that was longer than the 11-second tease released last month.

The Bethesda pre-E3 press conference kicks off with Doom, which promises to take first-person shooters to an all-new level. The new game is centred around badass demons, BFG, and moving really fast. You only have one goal at this massive UAC facility on Mars: Kill lots of demons.

Unwilling_Caco_1434321998

Moving through a darkened facility, the solider switches from using a machine gun to a super shotgun. The game looks like it will be all about making your way through narrow corridors, opening doors, and discovering what horrors are waiting behind it. Supplementing the gunfire are a number of melee moves to tear the demons apart when firepower isn’t enough. Demons drop objects like ammo, which look like they can all be automatically picked up at once by walking over or near them.

rsz_1rsz_screenhunter

The gameplay demo moves on from the shotgun to the plasma rifle, to help vaporize enemies. Players use a wheel to switch between weapons, which slows down time. Players can soften enemies up with the plasma rifle, before switching to the shotgun, then finish off a demon by tearing its head apart. There are new stealth demons to worry about, but it initiall seems indifferent to the soldier

Of course Doom is also about opening doors, and this game is no different. But instead of looking for colored keycards all over the place, the soldier pulls a hand off a corpse and uses it on the hand scanner. Finally, the demo moves to the killer chainsaw to tear through demons with ruthless efficiency. The soldier continues forward before tearing a Revanent apart with his bare hands.

We also get our first look at Doom’s multiplayer, which uses unique power-ups and deadly weapons to go head-to-head. Best of all, players can assume the roles of demons to attack opponents.

rsz_screenhunter_120

We also learned the Doom will come with a robust set of mod tools called Doom Snapmap, where players can create and share custom maps and game modes. Any player, regardless of expertise, can stap together objects to create all-new maps, and modify the game logic for additional modes. Players will have access to Snapmap, regardless of platform.

Cacodemons_1434321767

The Doom presentation finishes with a trip to hell, complete with pools of blood in a rocky underground setting. You can kill a giant demon by ripping a power core from its chest and shoving it down its throat. But when all else fails, there’s always the BFG.

Doom will launch Spring 2016 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Earthbound Beginnings out now for Wii U Virtual Console

0

Prior to todays Nintendo World Championships, Nintendo dropped a bombshell on viewers. A new Earthbound is on its way and it will go by the name Earthbound Beginnings. Well, it’ll certainly be new to North American users and for Europe users as well, as it’s actually the original Mother, which was only released in Japan on Famicom.

Earthbound Beginnings

Earthbound Beginnings was originally released as Mother 1 in 1989 overseas, telling the origin story of Ness and the world of Onett.

The trailer above will explaining the plot. The most pivotal piece of information here is that this classic RPG will hit the Wii U Virtual Console right now in the USA.

But it looks like the UK will have to waiting until Monday for EarthBound Beginnings to be released.

Ryu/Roy and more out for Super Smash Bros

0

Nintendo has announced a number of downloadable content as well as new features for Super Smash Bros. For the Wii U and 3DS which will add Street Fighter’s Ryu and Fire Emblem’s Roy to the game.

Both Roy and Ryu are currently available to download as well as Lucas. Pricing for both Lucas and Roy stands at $3.99/£3.59 each for either the Wii U or 3DS version, while accessing them on both versions of the game will cost $4.99/£4.49 each. Ryu, on the other hand, is priced at $5.99/£5.39 for either version and $6.99/£6.29 for both versions and comes with his stage, Suzaku Castle.

em

Nintendo put a little more work into Ryu and his stage than other content as he’s able to perform all of his signature special moves and has two final smashes.

Players can perform his signature Hadouken with the press of a button, but if they match the original input (Down + Down/Right + Right + A), it will result in a stronger attack. The same goes for his other special moves, Shoryuken and Hurricane Kick. As for the final smashes, the Shinku Hadouken will be his default attack, although if his final smash is activate close to an opponent, he’ll perform a Shin Shoryuken.

Mii Fighter suits

A plethora of Mii Fighter suits are also being made available today that includes costumes from the Mega Man, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, and Virtua Fighter series that are available for $0.75/£0.69 each on either Wii U or 3DS and $1.15/£1.09 each for both versions. Here’s a list of all the costumes that are available for Mii Fighters and what specific Mii Fighter it’s available for:

  • Zero (Swordfighter)
  • Isabelle (Gunner)
  • Inkling Boy & Inkling Girl (Gunner)
  • Squid Hat
  • Jacky (Brawler)
  • Akira (Brawler)

The classic Super Smash Bros. Nintendo 64 stage Dream Land has returned and is available for both the 3DS and Wii U versions of Smash Bros. Pricing for the stage is set at $1.99/£1.79 for either console, $2.99/£2.69 for both. A new Miiverse-themed stage will also be available starting today that will allow those using the service to interact with its fighters by posting custom Miiverse messages throughout the battle. Lastly, Nintendo is working on two additional stages based on classic Super Smash Bros. stages: Hyrule Castle and Peach’s Castle.

Super Smash Bros. will also support a new tournament mode in August that will feature community tourneys as well as regular tournaments that will only be available during certain times of the year. Creating YouTube clips will also be much easier as Nintendo will allow replay videos to be uploaded directly on the service from within Super Smash Bros.

next amiibo wave

A new wave of amiibo figures that will include R.O.B., Duck Hunt, Mr. Game & Watch, Samus Aran, Ganondorf, Dr. Mario, Bowser Jr., and each Mii Fighter.

The new wave will be available in September with additional figures of all fighters from the Super Smash Bros. game expected to become available in the coming months. Both Ryu and Roy will get the amiibo treatment.

Has Bethesda accidentally leaked “Dishonored 2”

0

With Bethesda scheduled to hold its first ever E3 showcase, it now appears we were going to hear more than just new information on Fallout 4 and Doom. Dishonored fans should pay close attention to tomorrow’s showcase as Bethesda is expected to reveal its upcoming sequel.

With the leak comes from Bethesda via a microphone which was accidentally set live to Bethesda’s Twitch channel, which picked up a little discussion about Dishonored 2 being presented during E3 showcase.

bethesda-logo

The conversation didn’t include any concrete evidence that outright say Dishonored 2 will be shown tomorrow, but based on the words “Dishonored” and “Harvey” seem to be what was picked up.

Harvey Smith was the co-director of Dishonored and appears to be making a presentation during Bethesda’s showcase tomorrow evening. Smith moved to France following the release of Dishonored back in 2012 to work on a follow-up with Arkane Studios.

Using the My Passport Ultra

All the software you need is actually stored on the drive itself so all you need to do is plug it in and run the WD software installer.

CDW Review - WD My Passport Ultra New - 9

As part of the setup process you can select which WD drive (or Dropbox) you want to use to back up to.

CDW Review - WD My Passport Ultra New - 10

You can then set up a schedule for the backups and also which files are included in the backup.

CDW Review - WD My Passport Ultra New - 11

As one of the reasons you might choose to use this drive is the encryption, setting up a password to access the content of the drive is imperative,  so make sure you set a password that isn’t easy to guess.

And if you think you might be having problems with the drive there are a number of utilities available to use. You can even erase the drive from here if you need to.

Final Thoughts

For this review, we had the 2TB model in black to test.

The drive is small and lightweight so it can easily fit it in your pocket, and its also quiet, which is what you want for a portable drive. There is no power supply with this drive, it is powered from the USB port so you don’t need to worry about having lots to carry.

One of the biggest risks to carrying around a portable drive is that if you lose it then anything you have on the drive could be accessed by whoever finds it, so if you have anything sensitive on their or you just don’t want anyone to be able to see anything on the drive you are in luck as the drive comes with hardware based encryption. What this means is that without the password to decrypt the drive the contents are inaccessible to anyone, so you don’t have to worry about your data falling into the wrong hands if the worst happens and you lose the drive. For those who might be interested, its 256-bit AES, which is very secure. So whatever you do, make sure you use a really good password that isn’t easy to guess and don’t keep your password on a post-it note with the drive, and don’t use the password hint box to give too much away. It’s also hardware based which means that unlike software based encryption there is very little (and I do mean very little) performance impact on the drive. You can use the drive on any computer to access the drive, you don’t need to have the WD software installed on it, you just need your password. You can also choose to have the drive automatically unlock when you connect it to a known computer so that you don’t have to type in your password, but I would recommend to remain as secure as possible that you don’t use this option in case you lose the drive and the computer at the same time!

The WD backup software is very easily to setup and use and you can just sit back and let it backup your selected data without having to manually copy anything to the drive. You can of course add whatever you want to the drive as well though just by copying it over. Restoring files is just as easy – you can choose to restore a single file or an entire folder structure if necessary all at the click of a button.

Overall, if you are looking for portable drive that will keep your data safe and secure then you should definitely add a WD My Passport Ultra to your collection and then you can sleep easier at night knowing your data is both backed up and protected.

CDW-Rating-Banner-black-55

My Passport Ultra ranges in price from £59.99 up to £159.00 depending on capacity and offer a 3-year limited warranty.

PES 2016 gets a September release date

0

Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. has announced a 18th September release date for PES 2016, marking the 20th anniversary edition of the football series. Coming out for the PlayStation 4  PlayStation 3  XboxOne  Xbox 360 and the PC

From its humble origins on PSOne, the PES series has leaped from format to format, adding ever more realism as it evolved. This heritage has been celebrated in PES 2016’s new tagline ‘Love The Past, Play The Future’, highlighting the series’ recent return to core PES values in last year’s PES 2015 and focusing on the many new gameplay and presentational elements that will further establish the series as the definitive football experience.

PES 2016 aims to retain its title of ‘Best Sports Game’, as voted across the world at games shows and by major media outlets in 2014, by continuing to lead the way in the recreation of ‘The Beautiful Game’. The series aims to go back to its roots to create an exciting match between users, and proudly present PES 2016 to deliver quality gameplay as per KONAMI’s ‘The Pitch is Ours’ mantra. From further integration of the industry-leading Fox Engine to bring the on-pitch action to life and full commitment to centre the product around creating the best gameplay experience, to the full redevelopment of Master League, every facet of the game has been enhanced to deliver yet another outstanding product.

PES2016 Xbox One

Fresh Gameplay: Exciting advancements reaffirming the PES series as having the very best gameplay.
»         Advanced Collision System – The physicality of the modern game has been realised in PES 2016 with a significantly improved collision system, calculating how players interact and creating a unique outcome depending on the type of impact.
»         Aerial Strength – With the new physicality system, aerial battles are a completely unique experience this year. Use the left stick to battle the opposition or disrupt a larger, more powerful, player; or find the best position to make the header/volley.
»         1v1 Control – In PES 2016 the 1v1 player control have been enhanced, offering a wide range of movements within the existing control structure. Response times have been improved, allowing players to manoeuvre in tight situations. This also benefits the upgraded feint moves that allow sudden directional change that can cause defenders to lose their balance. The 1on1 situations now offer a great leap in exciting table-turning outcomes. Just as the real pitch offers opportunities for those brave enough to perform, in PES 2016 players can pull off precise action, manoeuvre flexibly and pull away from the defender. Technique and timing can see a defender lose his balance, and creates great chances just as you pictured.
»         Perfect Defence – Performing a tackle at the perfect time will powerfully shove the player out of the way to secure the ball. The ball will immediately be yours, creating direct turnarounds and counter opportunities.
»         Intelligent Player AI – 2-3 player combination play will be available via the improved concept of team strategy, which depends on the type of tactic you set for your team. Players are no longer reliant on manually triggering a one-two, with teammates intelligently running off passes into space.
»         Goal Keeper ID – In a bid to improve quality and add unique individuality in performance, new goal keeper parameters have been added that vary in Catching, Clearance, Collapsing and Deflecting. This adds character to the players, who you can count on catching the ball rather than punching, or are better at stopping close range shots.
»         Celebration Control – New for the series, players have full control over goal celebrations to maximize their excitement when scoring! Prompts appear after a goal to trigger a trademark celebration, or unique actions at the press of a button.

Fundamental Changes: New significant improvements across key modes and features.

»         New Master League – The famous and hugely popular Master League enjoys a total revamp, allowing users to immerse themselves in the managerial world of soccer. Every element has been redesigned or reworked, from the vibrant and involving menus to the new and exciting player transfer system, PES 2016 see one of the series most integral modes redefine the single-player experience.
»         New Visuals – Incorporating the many advancements of the Fox Engine, the visuals have seen a huge upgrade. See the rain splash as players slide in to win possession, or the turf kick up as you strike the ball into the top corner. New night-time lighting and real turf textures are among some of the many improvements.
»         Dynamic Weather – For the first time in the PES series, dynamic weather has been introduced, with the chance of rain starting during the game. Combined with the ever more realistic ball physics, the rain changes how the game can be played with passes speeding up, and less skilled players likely to struggle with trapping. The defender taken by the 1-on-1 will also be more likely to slip and fall due to incorrect studs or blades. This feature is applied to all offline modes including the Master League, and is an important element to decide the outcome of the match.
»         Human Motion – Seeking to humanize player movement, 3x new animations have been added to bring the in-game superstars to life. Goalkeepers have seen an abundance of save animations added, while outfield players shoot, pass, dribble and tackle with incredible variety depending on the situation. Players complain when a foul isn’t given, or lament a teammate when a pass isn’t made when in open space. The new 1v1 control also benefits from this, with players being able to fool their opponents with shimmies and feints that can result in causing the opposing player to lose his balance and fall in the wrong direction!
»         New Ball Physics – The past few years has seen the series make huge advancements in ball physics, and for PES 2016 new levels of realism have been reached. Each spin, bobble and ricochet has been calculated using real ball physic data, helping keep every moment in every game unique and unpredictable.
Quality Improvements – Many important elements are upgraded per fan feedback.

»         myClub – Since the launch of the mode in PES 2015, myClub has been updated on a weekly basis, and has been further improved based on user feedback for PES 2016. The enhancement will introduce player level systems, and players exclusive to the mode. Use GP acquired through matches or myClub coins to experience realistic club management combined with players to strive to be stronger in your squad. Choose the manager, consider coaches, and build the strategy based on what you aim with your team. Build Your Team, Create Your legacy!
»         Dynamic Wide Camera Angle – The new angle gives you a larger field of vision, allowing you to better plan and adjust your players to compete in aerial battles, or see the intelligent runs being made thanks to Intelligent Player AI. Depending on where the ball is on the pitch, the camera will tilt and pan accordingly to make sure the user has the best view possible during the match.
»         Commentary – New commentators have been introduced for both UK and Germany, with Peter Drury and Marco Hagemann joining the PES team. A wealth of new lines and specific stories have been recorded dedicated for Master League, responding to player transfers, player growth and team performance.
»         PS4 Image Importing – Edit mode is synonymous with the PES series, and further updates have been made to this hugely popular mode. PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 users are now able to import images into the game, thus perfectly replicating any team kit or emblem the user wishes – including managers.

First teaser for Disney new film called “Zootropolis”

Watch the first teaser from a film called “Zootropolis” out March 2016 from Disney, The modern mammal metropolis of Zootropolis is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde, to solve the mystery.

Zootropolis

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Zootropolis” a comedy-adventure directed by Byron Howard (“Tangled,” “Bolt”) and Rich Moore (“Wreck-It Ralph,” “The Simpsons”) and co-directed by Jared Bush (“Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero”).
