Metro Exodus: The Two Colonels DLC Out Now

0

Deep Silver and 4A Games announced that The Two Colonels – the first piece of story DLC for Metro Exodus is out now.

It follows the journey and experiences of Colonel Khlebnikov during the last days of life in Novosibirsk, which Colonel Miller retraces a year later.

*A quick word of warning: if you have not yet completed the Metro Exodus campaign, the below contains spoilers.*

Just below the surface, under the dead city of Novosibirsk, Khlebnikov makes his way home to his son, Kirill, for New Year’s Eve.

But all is not well with the people here: the slime is further consuming the tunnels, mutant attacks appear to be on the rise and the precious ‘green stuff’ that protects the people from radiation poisoning is running low. In order to secure the survival of any of the people, those in charge may need to take drastic measures…

The Two Colonels contains classic Metro gameplay, exploring the claustrophobic environments of Novosibirsk, with all the hair-raising tension players expect from the Metro series.

This story also features a brand new weapon to fight the slime and worms of the tunnels – the deadly flamethrower. Like the Tikhar it needs to be pumped up to maintain its power, but can really light up a room.

The Two Colonels is available to buy now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. It is included in the Metro Exodus Expansion Pass which also entitles holders to our second DLC, ‘Sam’s Story’, set for release in early 2020.

MARVEL Studios and Sony Pictures Partnership for Spider-Man Over?

MARVEL fans all over the world rejoiced when MARVEL and Sony Pictures managed to secure a partnership that allowed Spider-Man to finally enter the MCU in Captain America: Civil War before continuing into his own film ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ with Tom Holland in the role of Peter Parker and our friendly neighbourhood Wall Crawler.

Now Deadline has reported that this partnership deal may well and truly be over in a dispute over money following the huge success of Spider-Man: Far From Home which has surpassed James Bond’s Skyfall as Sony Pictures most lucrative film. This dispute means that Kevin Feige, the man overseeing the entire MCU and creative director for the two Tom Holland Spider-Man films will no longer play a part in any future films.

In basic financial terms, according to the Deadline article, Disney wanted all future “Spider-Man” films be a 50/50 co-financing arrangement between them and Sony Pictures with discussions that this might extend to other films in the “Spider-Man” universe.  But it seems that Sony turned that offer down as their own team led by Tom Rothman and Tony Vinciquerra, refused to give away half their biggest franchise. Sony instead proposing that they keep the arrangement going under its current terms where Marvel receives in the range of 5% of first dollar gross which considering the success of Spider-Man in the MCU, Disney Refused.

My Thoughts…

This really is a crushing blow and to me as a MARVEL MCU fan is just staggering in what it could mean going forward. I would argue the current  success of Spider-Man for Sony Pictures is absolutely as a result of his inclusion in the MCU, not to mention having Kevin Feige overseeing both smash hit films. Considering how Sony Pictures on recent efforts with a Spider-Man film series with Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man crashing and burning hard with critics and fans that even lead into this studio partnership in the first place, the perhaps over arrogance that they can continue this success without Feige or MARVEL’s direct involvement.

Reportedly there are two more films planned with Tom Holland in the role, but what this means for the Webhead and the next phase of the MCU is now very much up in the air. Sony Pictures might be thinking they can create a full Spider-Verse with Vendom sequel and the expansion of the animated Into the Spider-Verse franchise and possible TV adaptations as well but Spider-Man largely known from the MCU could perhaps struggle if this breakdown means Disney no longer make plans to include him going forward.

Time will only tell at this point what this could mean for Spider-Man and the MCU as currently no comment has been made from Disney, MARVEL or Sony Pictures on this.

* Update: Sony Pictures makes official statement: *

Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise. We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film.

We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him – including all their newly added Marvel properties – do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own.

Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue.

Humankind Announced by SEGA for 2020 Release

0

What if you could rewrite the entire narrative of human history? How would you change the course of Humankind? These are the questions at the center of our newest, wildly ambitious historical turn-based strategy title Humankind, where you’ll be leading your people from the Neolithic era to the modern age, combining cultures as you progress through the eras to create your own unique civilization.

Humankind for us is truly labor of love. As explained by our chief creative officer, Romain de Waubert: “Amplitude Studios was founded with the intention of creating this game, all the games we’ve created up until now have been leading up to this moment. We are so excited to finally be able to share with the community what has been at the heart of Amplitude since day one.”

Here’s what you can expect the day you launch your first game of Humankind:

  • One million civilizations– Create your own unique civilization by combining 60 different historical cultures from across the heritage of humanity. Begin as Ancient Egypt, then evolve into the Romans, the Khmers, or perhaps the Vikings—the choice is up to you. Each culture brings its own special gameplay layer, leading to near-endless outcomes.
  • More than history, it’s your story – Face real historical events and figures, make great scientific discoveries, and visit the wonders of the world. Shape your people’s beliefs and confront other players. Every decision you make adds a flourish to your story.
  • In the eyes of posterity– The journey matters more than destination. Fame is a new and unifying victory condition. Every great deed you accomplish, every moral choice you make, every battle won will build your fame and leave a lasting impact on the world. The player with the most fame will win the game.
  • A tactical world – Show off your tactical skills by mastering terrain elevation, city-building, full tactical battles and warfare. Choose the high ground for your city, and it will be harder to siege. Deploy your archers in the woods to avoid stampeding horsemen. Call upon your allies to help you in times of need and transform an epic battle into a full-scale multiplayer world war!

Humankind will release in 2020.

More information is of course available on the Humankind website as well as on the Steam page.
