Borderlands 2 DLC : Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty

1

Along with the Mechromancer DLC, 2K Games have also released Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty, which adds a whole load more fun, guns and loot!

Borderlands2_Pirate'sBooty_Header

This new DLC starts off in Oasis, and within seconds you are under fire and fighting for your life (so what’s new in Borderlands)?

BL2_Pirate'sBooty_Screen_Boardwalk01

After you have dealt with those bad guys it’s time to meet a very dodgy character called Shade, who it turns out is the only living person in Oasis. He will give you tasks and tell you stories (but I will let you find out what he has to say).

BL2_Pirate'sBooty_Screen_Boardwalk03

Needless to say it isn’t long before you need to go off and meet with Captain Scarlett – but in order to get there you need to repair a new vehicle called a Sand Skiff (think barge from Return of the Jedi).

BL2_Pirate'sBooty_Screen_Orchid_Vehicle

Then once you meet her you are sent off on a whole new adventure to find pieces of a golden compass which will lead you to lots of trasure, but again, I don’t want to spoil it all for you.

BL2_Pirate'sBooty_Screen_CaptainScarlett

This new DLC adds around 8 – 10 hours of gameplay to Borderlands 2, with lots more humour, guns, loot and booty, and quite a few new bad guys to kill!

BL2_Pirate'sBooty_Screen_Docks BL2_Pirate'sBooty_Screen_AnchorManBL2_Pirate'sBooty_Screen_Sands BL2_Pirate'sBooty_Screen_Boardwalk02

I really enjoyed playing it (admittedly I was playing as a Level 50 Mechromancer) but it was a lot of fun and the time really flew by. There are quite a few challenges in it, so it’s not just walk around and shoot things!

And here is a short video of Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty in action:

If you love Borderlands 2 then you should definitely get yourself Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty, it will bring you hours of fun, laughter and loot.

You can buy the Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty DLC now for $9.99 USD or 800 Microsoft points.  Or if you buy the Season Pass for $29.99 or 2400 Microsoft points this counts as one of the four DLC packs.

Have you got Captain Scarlett and her Pirate’s Booty? If so, let us know what you think of her by leaving a comment below.

Introducing the Mechromancer, the first DLC for Borderlands 2

Borderlands 2 just got a new playable character. Her name is Gaige and she is a Mechromancer, and she is cool!

BL2_MechromancerScreen_Gaige

Gaige was a high school student from the planet Eden-5. She originally conceived Deathtrap, then called DT, as a science fair project to combat bullying. Her rival, Marcie Holloway, was a contestant in the science fair as well, and used her father’s money to buy her way through the competition. Marcie apparently stole Gaige’s DT designs and sold it to Eden-5’s police force.

On the day of the science fair, Marcie’s father bribed the judges, helping win her first place with a defective robot based on Deathtrap’s blueprints. Gaige placed third. Marcie then shoved Gaige, causing Deathtrap to identify her as a hostile. Deathtrap attacked with its claws, causing her to explode due to a miscalibration by Gaige. Gaige was escorted to the principal’s office, and faced expulsion and arrest for accidentally murdering her rival. She called her father to create a distraction to help her evade arrest, and bought a ticket to Pandora, where she hopes her talents will be more appreciated.

BL2_MechromancerScreen_ExplosiveClap

And here is a short video of Gaige the Mechromancer in action:

I have to say that I really love playing as the Mechromancer, in fact she is now my favourite character! And when you set Deathtrap loose, boy does he go for it! Gaige has some very good one-liners as well, such as “Respect the robot!” and “Me and robot are gonna bitch smack ya!”. There are lots more, so you will just have to go and play to hear them all.

You can buy the Mechromancer DLC now for $9.99 USD or 800 Microsoft points. And if you pre-ordered Borderlands 2 then you get her for free!

Have you got the Mechromancer? If so, let us know what you think of her by leaving a comment below.

Hauppauge Launches High Definition Video Streamer

0

Hauppage has launched a new high definition video streamer aimed at customers who broadcast live on the internet.  Read on for details.

Logo

Hauppage has launched a new high definition video streamer aimed at customers who broadcast live on the internet. Here is the press announcement:

StreamEez is an Affordable, Simple to Use, Easy to Install High Definition Video
Streamer Box That Enables Any Organization to Broadcast Live

London, UK, (12 October 2012): Hauppauge Digital, Inc. (NASDAQ: HAUP) has announced the release of StreamEezTM, a high definition video streamer designed for organisations that want a simple to use, high quality video streamer to broadcast live events over the Internet. StreamEez was designed to serve as a powerful tool for any organisation with live streaming needs. Typical applications could include live streaming over the Internet for organisations sponsoring political events such as town hall meetings, church groups wanting to broadcast religious services and other groups that need a high quality live streaming solution.

The StreamEez box connects to an HD video camera using either HDMI or Component Video, compresses the camera’s video using a built-in high quality H.264 encoder into a form that is compatible with many common streaming video sites such as USTREAM and Justin.tv. StreamEez then connects to a laptop computer (that is equipped with the Hauppauge StreamEez control application) via USB, making a connection to the streaming Internet website for live broadcast.

StreamEez is based on the same high quality video encoders that were developed for Hauppauge’s popular line of HD video recorders, Colossus and HD PVR. StreamEez requires a small laptop computer to act as the video server, an HD video camera that has HDMI or Component Video output, the SteamEez device plus an Internet connection and an account with a streaming video site. All encoding and formatting of the high definition video signal is done inside StreamEez, making the video transmission the highest quality possible.

Since most organisations streaming live events store the video equipment between broadcasts, StreamEez is designed to make set up and removal fast and easy. The StreamEez device is in a rugged housing and connects to the laptop PC via a USB cable. And because it is based on well proven hardware encoding technology, the best possible video stream is created with minimal bit rates, which delivers a superior end-user experience.

StreamEez is compatible with several popular video streaming sites and uses standard protocols such as RTMP. Pricing on the StreamEez box and Windows-based application software starts at £299.

Here is a photo of the product.

So if you are interested in live streaming video events over the internet, check out the latest from Hauppage.
