Review: Micro Classic: Neochrome Scooter from Micro Scooters

0

Here is our review of the Micro Classic: Neochrome Scooter from Micro Scooters.

Large wheels – easy life
200mm wheels to go further, faster.

Low impact – high stability
Lower footplate delivers a more stable, lower impact, less strenuous ride.

Adjust. Fold. Carry. Stand.
Commute friendly – Seamless fold for easy storage or transportation.

Their best-selling 2-wheeled scooter for ages 8+ to adult is now available in a stunning rainbow-inspired finish. This foldable, adjustable, big-wheeled scooter with a spectacular neochrome appearance makes getting from A-B fun, fast and feel good.

A one-click fold makes storing or carrying this scooter a breeze. Large 200mm wheels cover more ground quicker which means less effort for you. The adjustable handlebar extends from 72cm-103cm, ensuring that whatever your age or height, you can set the scooter to be at the perfect size for you.

The low-effort, long and wide aluminium deck provides extra stability for all feet sizes. The clever kickstand means the scooter can stand upright on its own (no having to lean it against walls or doors.

Safety built-in. Unlike other cheaper scooters, every Micro undergoes a gauntlet of safety tests. Including sub-zero temperature testing, static load, dynamic drop, and impact tests to ensure every part of the scooter is safe and resilient to use every day.

Details matter. They’ve designed the brake on this scooter to be slightly longer – so that it doesn’t just slow the scooter down when pressed but acts as a mudguard too. They only use the finest parts when building scooters, and this one is no exception. Bearings play a vital role in how wheels perform – keeping them rotating quietly, smoothly and quickly. Bearings are so vital that they are given an industry rating to describe their level of performance. The bearings used in this scooter are ABEC 9 – one of the highest ratings given.

For a lifetime of use. This scooter has been built with individual parts, so if something were to go wrong it could be repaired/revamped rather than thrown away. One scooter. Years of use. Built to last. Built to outlast.

The scooter is fairly lightweight so once folded up (which is a really useful feature) it’s easy to carry around, so it shouldn’t get in the way if you need to take it on a train or a bus, or even pop it in the back of your car.

The scooter looks very cool and certainly gets attention! The rainbow finish really looks good. The build quality is exceptional and the scooter feels very solid and safe!

The handling of the scooter was really good – it’s very easy to steer and very easy to ride it. In fact you will probably find yourself using it even for short trips. I also didn’t feel tired after using it, even for extended periods.

I really liked that this scooter had a kickstand built-in – this meant I didn’t have to leave it laying on the ground when I wasn’t using it, and it really supported the scooter.

For me it gives me the ability to scooter along with my 8 year old son, who has his own scooter and saves me having to walk or run beside, or behind him!

This really is a cool adult scooter and one you should consider, especially when paired with a similar scooter for your little one!

The Micro Classic: Neochrome Scooter is available now priced around £179.95.

Review: OpenRock X Earbuds

I love sports and I adore music. Whenever I’m offered the opportunity to test sports audio equipment, I jump at the chance. Today, I’m reviewing the OpenRock X Open-Ear Air Conduction Sport Earbuds, try saying that after a few beers! In the future, I will be referring to them as the OpenRock X Earbuds. These funky and compact earbuds deliver an almighty punch without damaging your hearing. Moreover, the unique hinged design allows you to adjust them for ultimate comfort.

Whenever I look for sports audio equipment, I need it to be robust and comfortable to wear. Additionally, the sound quality needs to be amazing and a decent case and battery life are essential. Luckily, the OpenRock X Earbuds offer this and much, much more. If you need a pair of versatile earbuds with multipoint technology and incredible microphone pick-up, look no further. I was blown away by the mic and audio quality, and you will be too.

What’s in the box of the OpenRock X Earbuds?

  • The tiny packaging is environmentally friendly and pleasant to look at. Moreover, it can be recycled if you wish.
  • The OpenRock X Earbuds have a sci-fi edge. The hinged arm is unusual but amazingly useful. Furthermore, it doesn’t rely on touchpads and I appreciated the tactile buttons.
  • The charging case adds to the futuristic vibes. It is sleek, small, and hard-wearing. The base is secured with a push lock and the earbuds sit on either side of the central partition.
  • A circular clip is provided to secure the case to a belt loop or bag.
  • Charge the case with the braided USB-C cable.
  • Learn the basics with the quick start guide.

Technical aspects.

Gone are the days of reasonable tech and sports equipment going hand-in-hand. Now, users expect their gadgets to be top of the range. Moreover, if you are paying £169.99 (price correct on date of publication), you are right to have high expectations. Thankfully, the OpenRock X Earbuds deliver on every aspect. Consequently, I was not disappointed. First, the battery life is unbelievably good! 12 hours from one charge and a further 48 hours from the charging case will not leave you wanting. What’s more, the case charges the earbuds exceptionally quickly. As a result, I wasn’t out of the game for very long.

In testing, the battery lasted very close to the advertised hours when the volume was set to around 70%. However, when you start playing with the settings, the battery life is slightly reduced. This wasn’t disappointing and I was still impressed with the overall battery life.

I rarely use multipoint connectivity, but I understand its advantages. The OpenRock X Earbuds have Bluetooth 5.3 and multipoint tech for those people who like to multitask. The seamless connectivity was great in practice and I was able to flit from my music while on my Zwift Core trainer and taking a phone call via my laptop. If you work from home, this could be a great tool while taking some downtime or sneaking in some exercise.

Phone calls.

I’ve alluded to the ability to take and make calls. Thankfully, unlike other devices, you can enjoy crystal clear communication without echoes, background noise, and tinny mic pickup. 4 premium microphones are powered by AI call noise cancellation for an exceptional audio experience. This clever tech wipes out unwanted ambient sounds to create the perfect calling environment.

This technology was impressive and my phone calls were mostly flawless. There were moments when loud lorries and buses ruined the peace. However, I was impressed by the excellent pick-up and the near-silent background.

Audio quality of the OpenRock X Earbuds.

If you are an audiophile, you are going to cherish this set of earbuds. The audio quality is fantastic and the clarity is second to none. I picked a range of songs and environments to test the audio quality and the product blew me away. Other open-ear devices suffer from a lack of tonal range, but these are different. I could pick out the high, mid, and low tones with ease. Moreover, there is a strong bass line that isn’t overpowering.

If you love to play with your settings on the move, there are 3 preset arrangements for you to pick from. Rock mode, Relax mode, and Boom mode change the audio profile without jeopardising your safety. It was great to flit between the different settings or create my own using the free-to-download app.

Alongside this, you are free to hear every ambient sound. As such, if you are running or cycling, this improves your safety without undermining your audio experience. Furthermore, your ear health benefits as you don’t have music blazing directly into your ear canal. This impressive tech delivers a safer sporting environment without ruining your beloved songs.

Build quality.

Finally, I’m going to take a look at build quality. The OpenRock X Earbuds will make you smile! The build quality is amazing and they are robust, comfortable, and great to look at. Additionally, the case is exceptional and I love the locking mechanism. The sleek black finish has a professional edge and the smooth movement of the central housing is great to witness. Consequently, you will not be disappointed at the phenomenal build quality.

Each of the earbuds has a swivel hinge for a 45° left and right x 50° up and down adjustability. This may seem minor, but it ensures the best fit of any earbud I’ve ever used. The secure feeling is essential whenever you are pounding the streets or riding your bike. Moreover, they are IPX5 waterproof rated for any athlete who likes to exercise in poor conditions. As such, the design is reassuring and many amateur athletes will appreciate it.

Are the OpenRock X Earbuds worth it?

I have tested some great open-ear tech products, and these are up there with the best of them. The build and audio quality are amazing and the unusual design will have tongues wagging. Alongside this, they are jam-packed with modern tech and the battery life is great. Therefore, it is easy for me to recommend that you buy them here! If you fancy saving some money, use code UKOPEN15 for a 15% discount.

Review: Alchemist Shop Simulator

Alchemist Shop Simulator is fun but somewhat lacking in content. Though this didn’t put me off, its shallow nature will disappoint hardcore fans of the genre. Moreover, there is a sense of grind and this may be off-putting. However, if you can put these issues aside, you may fall for the medieval charms.

Kool2Play developed and published this single-player simulation experience. Furthermore, there are some business elements as you try to appease the locals and expand your magical potion-creating business. It can be stressful and hectic, but you will avoid every pitfall and thrive if you have a cool head.

Alchemist Shop Simulator treads common ground.

Like its peers, Alchemist Shop Simulator has a paper-thin plot. Though this wasn’t an issue, and it doesn’t hold back the action, I would have liked a story to get my teeth into. Instead, you are left to your own devices as you plan, expand, and turn around your failed business.

You play the role of an outlandish alchemist. His shop is musty, small, and downright dull. Yet, with some hard work, you’ll make the locals happy and the shop shine. The action opens in a haze. You awaken with no idea of what’s happening. Additionally, you are assisted by letters from an unknown individual. As the letter comes to its conclusion, you find out the author and things become clear. This cheeky twist was amusing and brought a smile to my face.

Simple mechanics.

The core gameplay loop is understated. The hero must grow plants or harvest them from their surroundings. On top of this, you must follow your recipes if you wish to make successful potions. Every ingredient can be purchased from the local merchant or snipped from plant pots in your backyard.

Once you have the required ingredients, you can brew some potions and fill your shelves. Eager punters will empty their coin purses as they buy every product you create. This was a highlight as I loved using the abacus to work out the change. Moreover, adjusting the prices to maximise your profit was a balancing act.

Where Alchemist Shop Simulator falls short is its lack of desire. Though watering your crops is essential, there is no rush to complete any tasks. Alongside this, there is no risk and this was frustrating. The developer needs to add more obstacles while balancing the core elements.

Alchemist Shop Simulator has a pleasant but basic finish.

Visually, this genre rarely blows me away. However, Alchemist Shop Simulator impressed me with its pleasant but basic finish. The world is colourful and the people have a funny “ye olde” appearance. Furthermore, I liked the brewing animation and the smooth movement.

The audio is rudimentary but enjoyable. There is a folksy edge to proceedings and this matches the fantasy and medieval theme. Though the sound effects weren’t incredible, they were good and interesting to listen to. Consequently, Alchemist Shop Simulator sounds good without blowing you away.

Easy to master controls.

The developer has done a great job with the control system. The thorough tutorial is straightforward and you will be up and running immediately. Furthermore, selecting your seeds and harvesting crops was easy to master. Subsequently, this is great for newbie gamers.

The lack of depth was disappointing. As such, replay value and longevity aren’t at the fore. Sadly, once you’ve unlocked every potion, there is little reason to return. What’s more, the repetitive action prevents you from binge playing.

Alchemist Shop Simulator needs some more content.

I’ve enjoyed every aspect of this game. It was fun and the atmosphere and visuals are pleasant. However, it could do with more depth to push it forward. I’m hoping that the developers keep working on their project and this goes from strength to strength. Though it isn’t perfect, I enjoyed it and recommend buying it here! Can you run the perfect business? Pick your ingredients, improve your shop, and become a world-famous alchemist.

Final Thoughts

The TRIBIT StormBox Flow Portable Speaker is fairly hefty – not so much that you wouldn’t want to take it with you given its a portable speaker, but whilst it’s small, it’s quite heavy.

Sound wise, the StormBox Flow pumps out music at 25W, but there is also Tribit’s proprietary XBass tuning DSP technology boosts bass by 10dB at the same power playback, all at the press of a button. There are also 3 custom sound modes to choose from.

Review: Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip

Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip is a silly adventure title that has eccentricity at its core. Normally, this madness would drive me insane, but this game gets the balance just right. Whether you are completing quests, gathering junk, or racing around the open-world setting, playing is a joy. However, the lack of focus may be off-putting for straight-laced gamers. Accordingly, this is a bit of a Marmite experience.

This open-world adventure title was developed by Snekflat and published by Super Rare Originals. Moreover, it is a single-player title that utilises platforming elements. Alongside this, are a host of silly mini-games and plenty of zany characters to interact with. Subsequently, there is plenty to see and do as you try to get to the Moon.

Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip tells a ridiculous plot.

You play the part of Terry. He is a naughty lad and his parents have punished him for his behaviour at school. He turns his punishment into a quest to become a famous astronaut. To be precise, Terry wishes to use any available vehicle to get to the Moon. Now, normal-minded individuals will know that this is absurd. Terry, on the other hand, is hell-bent on achieving his goal.

It is this strange focus that drives the central plot. As he explores his vast surroundings, he must collect super junk to upgrade his taxi. After all, the faster the taxi and the better the boost, the more chance he has of achieving his goals. En route, you must complete an array of strange missions and compete in some eclectic and interesting mini-games. The events won’t test you, but they were fun, nonetheless.

A game about doing whatever you wish.

If you like structure and a goal, Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip probably won’t be for you. The fluid gameplay and lack of structure could drive you crazy. Furthermore, the unhinged residents chuck a spanner into the works. Consequently, you must put aside your sensibilities if you wish to get the most out of this title.

I adored the madness that unfolded. Additionally, the ability to hunt for money and smash things up to find super junk was rewarding. If this wasn’t enough, the mini-games are silly but well-conceived. My favourite was the no-rules football. However, I enjoyed hunting bugs, digging up treasure, and breaking the law. There are so many things to do during the 6-8 hour playtime.

Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip is colourful but dated.

If you want a modern polished game, this won’t be your cup of tea. Yet, Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip is a colourful and eye-catching game that has a bizarre style. Each character looks slightly deformed and the world is overbearing but strangely cute. The developer appears to have chucked a few ideas into the pot and worked with them all. Though this usually fails, they’ve done a nice job with their stage design and end product.

The audio is loud, silly, and a little annoying. Each conversation is rambling nonsense and I ended up shutting off to the madness. Thankfully, it doesn’t become tiresome or distract you from the wonderfully satirical dialogue. On top of this, the sound effects are amusing and occasionally childish. Though the audio was a bit OTT, it works well with the theme.

Excellent controls.

The Switch isn’t my go-to platform. Consequently, the controller setup wasn’t as familiar as other consoles. Luckily, this matters not as everything is well explained. Moreover, the UI is clearly labelled and exploring the world is a joy. Though some of the jokes and silliness will go over younger gamers’ heads, they can play this with ease.

There is loads of replay value and plenty of longevity if you fall for Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip’s charms. I invested around 8 hours and I played it docked and using the console as a handheld device. If you wish to search for every item and complete every quest, you can lose plenty more hours with ease.

Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip is a great indie game.

The childish nature of Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip will put some people off. However, if you want a nice blend of satirical dialogue and interesting mini-games, this should be on your radar. I chuckled repeatedly and enjoyed tackling the core quest line. Moreover, some of the characters made me belly laugh more than they should. Accordingly, though it is silly, I love it and I recommend buying it here! Can you make it to the Moon and complete your punishment? Upgrade your taxi, help the locals, and become a legend.

Review: Turbo Overkill

Developed by Trigger Happy Interactive and produced by Apogee Entertainment, Turbo Overkill is a fast-paced Modern Boomer Shooter hoping to quench your Doom Eternal cravings.

I think it’s safe to say that Doom Eternal was a great game but sometimes you have to go a step further and make you your life’s dedication, Put years of your remaining breaths into a project that will make everyone around you say that “by god, Doom Eternal was a great game.”

Turbo Overkill is exactly that game: a reminder of something better.

Doom on crack

In all seriousness, Turbo Overkill is, in fact, an enjoyable game. Beyond the obvious Doom inspired… Everything it does do some, just unique enough, things to stand out from the Boomer Shooter shadow.

For Example:

Chainsaw leg:

Your character is equipped with a chainsaw leg, which, as it sounds, is a chainsaw in place of a leg.

How does this differ from the regular chainsaw from Doom, you ask?

Instead of just being a way to quickly kill enemies, the chainsaw leg in Turbo Overkill allows you to zoom through locations like a small bike, killing or damaging enemies on the way. With the speed and quick usage of this Spiky leg, I found myself using it to traverse distances even when outside of combat. It is truly the main selling point of Turbo Overkill.

Vehicles:

Another thing Turbo Overkill has on offer is the two vehicles. One flying Car that controls surprisingly well and one bike that is there more for the trailer and cover art than anything. Still, I was expecting these to be pointless gimmicks with badly turning controls(looking at you Halo), but it led to very detailed and fun sections of the game.

The gangs of Turbo OverKill

Most of the plot went over my head in Turbo Overkill. Since the gameplay took Centre-stage, I found the story not worth engaging. That is to say, my focus was not on the nitty gritty, but I can give a general idea of the story.

Unlike Doom’s Hellish locations and Hell itself, and whatever Duke Nukem’s world was, Turbo Overkill has a cyberpunk setting. Nothing but gia,nt neon plastered buildings and techno- themed locations.

The Story follows Johnny Turbo, a cyborg Mercenary looking to find and end a gang of revolutionaries that nearly killed him in the past. With a body augmented to the moon and back, Johnny goes from location to location, hunting down each high-ranking member, killing them, and destroying their plans of domination. All while his body slowly dies.

It may sound dumb, but by the first 6 missions of episode 1, I was hooked. But then, by the 3 missions of episode 2, I found myself wishing for a conclusion. This brings us to the next point.

A Lengthy OverKill

No mincing words, Turbo Overkill is a very long game,

Now, I don’t mean long, as too long for a poor game reviewer with deadlines. I mean long to the point of falling interest.

Each episode starts with new items getting unlocked for you. This happens throughout the first few missions. The few missions have you face great challenges, putting your skills and your weapons to the test. After is the final stretch where the game goes for the big conclusion. All the remaining challenges run to the finish line, and finally, the episode ends.

That would be well and good, but having to do it three times, especially when after a certain point, all the upgrades and weapons start to stack in the never-use pile, the fun slowly starts to fade.

I would suggest to the Developers to add more upgrade slots for your character as the game progresses as I feel it may fix the slump that occurs in the middle phases of Turbo Overkill.

Nevertheless, it is but a minor trife in what is ultimately a very enjoyable game.

Fun OverKill

Turbo Overkill serves up a satisfying, adrenaline-pumping experience that fans of old-school boomer shooters will appreciate. Its unique features, like the chainsaw leg and vehicle sections, elevate it beyond just a Doom clone, offering a fresh twist on the genre.

While the length and repetitive upgrades can cause the momentum to slow, the overall fast-paced action and cyberpunk setting keep the game engaging. If you’re looking for a chaotic, fun-filled shooter that pushes the limits of your reflexes and you survive some obvious time padding, Turbo Overkill is a great game to play.
