XSEED Games, an independent-minded publisher, today announced that the next chapter in the Corpse Party series of horror titles, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, will be available now for download on the PlayStation Network for the PSP and PlayStation Vita in Europe, at a price of €14.99 (£11.99).
The sequel to 2011’s hit horror title, Corpse Party, which follows the tales of a group of Japanese high school students trapped in an alternate reality, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows tells a series of short stories that help develop many of the characters introduced in the first game and explores some hypothetical scenarios, finally answering those “What if they survived?” questions. A horrifying blend of adventure gameplay and visual-novel style presentation, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows was developed and published by 5pb in Japan, with supervision and input from original Corpse Party developer Team GrisGris.
In Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, players will be thrown back in time to relive the horrific events that unfolded when they were thrown into another reality after visiting the condemned site of Heavenly Host. Armed with the knowledge gained during their first nightmarish trip in the original Corpse Party, players will be given an opportunity to change the fates of the game’s characters this time around. But is this second chance a blessing or a curse? Can the destiny of these unfortunate souls truly be altered, or will the attempt simply lead to an even more gruesome conclusion? Once again, “wrong ends” lurk around nearly every corner, amplified by binaural 3D audio effects and the chilling original Japanese voice track.
Gameplay in Corpse Party: Book of Shadows takes on an all-new point-and-click mechanic, showcasing the spine-tingling events experienced by the game’s characters from a first-person perspective. As the terror level rises for individual characters, the game’s “darkening” system will slowly distort the game’s visuals and alter the students’ decision-making abilities. “Wrong ends”, while just as disturbing, come with fewer consequences this time around, as players can save anywhere and fast-forward through events they’ve already seen in order to expedite the process of achieving each scenario’s true ending.
Here is the trailer:
Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, from XSEED Games, is now available exclusively on the PlayStation Store for the PSP system and PS Vita in Europe. The game has been rated PEGI 16. For more information, visit the game’s website at: www.corpsepartypsp.com
Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced a free DLC pack that will accompany European versions of its METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE title for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
The game will be released on February 21st/22nd, and KONAMI has announced that every copy will include a free DLC code to unlock a custom Cyborg Ninja body for use in the game. Based on the design of the hugely popular character Gray Fox from the original METAL GEAR SOLID, the Cyborg Ninja DLC not only allows users to assume the guise of the popular character, but it also allows them to use and upgrade his powerful FOX BLADE within METAL GEAR RISING: REVENGEANCE.
The new game features Raiden as its central character, and is set in a near future where cyborg technology has become commonplace throughout society. Following the events of METAL GEAR SOLID 4: Guns of the Patriots which oversaw the collapse of the Patriots hierarchy that had been secretly controlling the global power balance, the large ‘Private Military Companies’ (PMCs) that had been supported and controlled by the Patriots have collapsed, spawning countless rogue entities.
