Bungie held a big reveal event that pretty much roadmaps their intention for Destiny 2 content for at least the next three years. Instead of announcing Destiny 3 which many had expected, we were given a look at what to expected starting with the next big expansion…Beyond Light coming September 22nd 2020:
The splintered houses of the Fallen have rallied and built their new empire on the icy moon of Europa. Brave the unrelenting glacial frontier, infiltrate the Golden Age Braytech facility, and uncover the secrets that lie deep under the ancient ice.
But for right now, Season 11 starts today with ‘Arrivals’
Fragments of the vanquished Almighty burn in the sky, but celebration is cut short as mysterious Pyramid ships reveal themselves throughout the system. An obscured message emerges from the darkness. Is it a greeting, a threat, or something else altogether? Eris and Zavala call upon you to find out…
My thoughts….
This event certainly got my attention….but it was not enough to make me want to return to Destiny, just yet. A lot of information was dropped today and right now my attention in September is very much on Cyberpunk 2077 and the Beyond Light expansion releasing just a week after has not done enough from a trailer to make me change my plans to include a return to Destiny.
But it has factors that has me interested such as The Stranger returning and a new location on Europa and Bungie laying out a full three year roadmap plan for Destiny 2 content that takes it into the next generation of gaming whilst they acknowledge mistakes made in recent years especially with seasonal content was good to see. But pricing will play a huge factor in if I make the jump back to Destiny 2.
