A global audience loves SteelSeries. Their reliable and next-level tech is admired for its durability, comfort, and match-winning edge. Furthermore, they love to break the mould with interesting designs and cutting-edge technology. Accordingly, whenever I see something new from this manufacturer, I must get my hands on it. The Arctis Nova 3X Wireless headphones are the latest product that is designed with console gamers in mind. The X version is for Xbox, and the P is designed for PlayStation. However, you can use either across multiple platforms for increased versatility.

Available in 4 colourways, I was sent the delightful aqua version. The vibrant colour is bound to make heads turn. However, if you like things a little low-key, you can select white or black. This gaming headset is a wireless-only beast. This may cause you concern, but it shouldn’t. The battery life is impressive, and there is a quick charge facility. Furthermore, you can use the handy Bluetooth or USB-C/A dongle to connect to any compatible device.

What’s in the box of the Arctis Nova 3X Wireless headphones?

  • The packaging is surprisingly slim! Additionally, it is attractive to look at, and it can be recycled.
  • The Arctis Nova 3X Wireless headphones are light, comfortable, and eye-catching. It has a detachable microphone and simple earcup-mounted controls.
  • Charge the headset with the USB-C cable.
  • The detachable mic has a pop filter and a flexible arm.
  • Use the L-shaped USB-C or standard USB-A dongles to connect to your device.
  • Learn the basics with the user manual.

Technical aspects.

The Arctis Nova 3X Wireless headphones are packed with impressive tech. The 5.3 Bluetooth connectivity and stable 2.4 GHz dongle connection reduce latency and audio issues. Additionally, there is a quick switch button and 200+ Xbox Audio presets to improve your audio experience. Simply download the app to your mobile device and get to work. The quick switch button is impressive. Tap the small button on the earcup, and you can move from gaming to mobile in no time at all.

A wireless headset is judged on its battery life. If it is terrible, you may as well put it in the bin. Thankfully, you get a whopping 40 hours from one full charge and an impressive 9 hours of juice from a 15-minute fast charge. This is enough to keep you in the game for longer. Moreover, Bluetooth 5.3 has a low power draw and a stable connection. Consequently, you can game for longer without worrying about battery life.

Usability.

I love complex tech, but a gaming headset doesn’t need to be complicated. Luckily, the Arctis Nova 3X Wireless headphones are unbelievably easy to use. If you don’t want to use the audio presets, you don’t have to. Instead, this can be as plug-and-play as you like. However, if you want the best experience, it is advised to install the app and let that do the heavy lifting.

Alongside this, connecting this headset was a piece of cake. Using the dongle or Bluetooth was easy, and switching between the 2 was child’s play. As such, this headset can be mastered by the biggest technophobe. If you commute and you listen to music, you won’t want the microphone connected. This isn’t an issue as it simply plugs in or can be pulled off whenever you wish.

Audio quality.

It won’t surprise you when I say the Neodymium magnetic audio drivers are great! They deliver an incredible range of tones and a wonderfully healthy bass line. Additionally, it is easy to identify each tonal range thanks to the clear and crisp audio profile. I experienced no hissing, crackling, or broken high notes. The Arctis Nova 3X Wireless headphones never cracked, faltered, or failed, no matter how hard I pushed them.

Each of the preset audio profiles creates a perfect gaming soundscape. Enhanced footsteps, pinpoint accurate bullets, or blindingly good soundtracks await anyone who invests. On top of this, the microphone quality was fantastic. I worried that the detachable approach could lead to problems, but I was wrong. My teammates never complained about echoey comms or horrible background noises.

Build quality.

I absolutely love wearing these headphones. The earcups are plush, comfortable, and do not overheat during gaming sessions. Moreover, the detachable microphone ensures that you can wear these out and about without looking like a gamer. The clean dials and buttons are colour-matched to complete the discreet finish.

I adore the floating internal headband as it reduces pressure and stress on your skull. This makes a huge difference when you game or listen to music for any length of time. Additionally, the soft earcup material is glasses-friendly. Therefore, you don’t get that horrible pressure pinch if you wear prescription or GUNNAR gaming glasses.

Durability is a huge factor when deciding on your next gaming headset. Fortunately, the Arctis Nova 3X Wireless headphones are built to last. The hard-wearing plastic has durable hinges and lay-flat yokes. Furthermore, the headband is flexible enough to accommodate a wide range of head sizes and shapes.

Are the Arctis Nova 3X Wireless headphones worth it?

I don’t think I’ve handled a SteelSeries product that hasn’t impressed me. The Arctis Nova 3X Wireless headphones will not break this streak as they are phenomenal. They look great and they are easy to use. I adore the audio presets and the spectacular audio drivers. Moreover, the battery life is great, and the quick charging facility is a lifesaver. Finally, they are built to last and will deal with some rough and tumble. Accordingly, they are amazing and I recommend buying them here!
