A Closer Look

Final Thoughts

The first thing you notice when you take the MR4s out of the box is that they look great – especially in white! Setting up the speakers is just a case of placing them on your desk or wherever else you want them to go, connecting the two speakers together with the supplied cable and then connecting to your source. If your source happens to have a 3.5mm port on it then you can use the supplied RCA to 3.5mm cable, which saves you having to buy one.

On the front of the active speaker is a multifunction dial that acts as both the power, volume and function mode (the function mode being either monitor mode or music mode). There is an LED to shows which mode you are in (Red for monitor and Green for music). There is also an AUX input and headphones output.

On the rear of the active speaker are low end and high end EQ trimmer dials and other inputs.

The MR4s are purely analogue so there are no digital inputs, USB ports or the ability to connect using wireless.

The sound quality is very good – you are certainly getting your monies worth with these speakers.

The MR4s are not just for listening to music, they are for helping you to create music, hence the ability to adjust the EQ and it works pretty well. Having the trimmer dials on the back though can be a bit of a pain when wanting to continually adjust them, but you get used to their position pretty quickly.

The Edifier MR4 Powered Monitor Speakers are available in white or black and retail for around £109.99 and would make a great addition to your desk setup.
