Film Suggestions for the Weekend

A weekend film night is always a good idea. It is a great time to bond with family or friends, but also enjoy a conversation with a glass of wine over a good film.

To help you with that, we have compiled a list of the films we suggest which, based on the reviews, are great films of different genres. Thus, apart from playing online casino in Australian websites, we suggest that you take some of the free time during the weekend and enjoy a good film. So, without further ado, let’s get started!

1. Are you there, God? It’s me, Margaret.

The first movie that we highly recommend is Are you there, God? It’s me, Margaret. The movie’s genre is comedy and drama, and it lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes in total. The movie is based on the novel with the same name, written by Judy Blume, published somewhere in the 1970s. Are You There God? by Judy Blume has been a beloved and ground-breaking book for more than 50 years.

Its timeless coming-of-age tale, perceptive humor, and open examination of life’s most important problems have all contributed to It’s Me, Margaret’s lasting influence on generations. With new friends in a new school, 11-year-old Margaret (Abby Ryder Fortson) leaves her home in New York City for the suburbs of New Jersey as depicted in Lionsgate’s big-screen adaptation. She is going through the messy and turbulent pains of puberty. She is supported by her mother Barbara (Rachel McAdams), who is also finding it difficult to adjust to life outside of the city, and her devoted grandma Sylvia (Kathy Bates), who isn’t glad they moved away and likes to remind them whenever she can. The audience reviewssay that even though the story is based in the 70s, they could still relate to it even now in 2023.

2. The One I Love

Second on the list comes The One I Love which is a comedy and romance film that was released in 2014. The main roles are played by Mark Duplass and Elisabeth Moss, while the entire film lasts 1 hour and 31 minutes. The plot of the film revolves around the couple in the story, who are having marital issues and seeking counseling. He cheated on her, they don’t get along, they no longer have sex, and other prevalent reasons are why they are in marriage counseling. They lament the “irreverent” selves they once were, the people who “did ecstasy at Lollapalooza.” When they follow the counselor’s advice to spend the weekend at a house, things spiral out of control. I won’t reveal much more since I want to keep the plot a surprise, but I will say that the house has something surprising in store for the young couple that will make them and us wonder what it is that makes the person we love unique. However, we can definitely let you know that this film blends several genres rather unnoticeably and naturally.

3. Huesera: The Bone Woman

Let’s move to something scary, shall we? For all my horror film lovers out there, the star of today is Huesera: The Bone Woman which came out in 2022 starring in the key role as Valeria, Natalia Solian. The movie will keep you and your whole focus in front of the TV for 1 hour and 33 minutes. We see Valeria, a member of the middle class who is actively trying to conceive. Valeria is shown pleading with higher powers to help her conceive as the movie opens.

At first glance, one may conclude that Valeria aspires to have children and that becoming pregnant would bring her the utmost joy. But as soon as Valeria finds out she’s pregnant, the titular Bone Woman begins tormenting her. Valeria is being followed by the strange being, putting her baby and her family in peril. So, when Valeria is cursed by the evil thing, her joy at becoming a mother for the first time, which she has long awaited, is swiftly taken away. The featured review in IMDbsays that this is a movie that many young parents can relate to, since welcoming your first child can be a challenging and rather difficult.

Watching films can be a great option to consider when you have free time at the weekend and want to indulge in a story that is outside the reality you are living. So, it is rightly said that watching a film is always a good idea. Choosing what film to watch on the other hand, depends on the people’s preference of a genre of the film. Thus, based on what your preferred genre is, you can choose from one of the options we have given above for a movie this weekend and we promiseyou’ll love every minute of it!
